The Department of Defense Skillbridge program can set you up in ways you wouldn't imagine!
Getting out of the military can be scary. There is a lot of uncertainty and stress durning the whole process. Therefore you should take control of what you can and start early!
This video was RIGHT ON TIME. I’ve been in the Air Force 19 years 4 months and have said for a long time imma do at least 24 years…. But I been waking up recently feeling it’s time to go. I’ve lost the happiness in my heart for what I’ve done so long and with a nervousness I looked in the mirror and faced the fact it’s time to hang up the uniform with all the uncertainties. Your video has encouraged me and enhanced my faith that it will be alright. This wk I’m going to start taking the steps for what I need to do to get ready to retire… skill bridge and all that… thank you I appreciate you taking the time to share
I’m so glad this video helped you. Change can be so scary. It was for me and I was only in for four years so I can imagine your anxiousness about getting out. However, to be in for as long as you have you seem to be a certain caliber person. Hardworking and diligent along with a plethora of skill sets you’ve gain form the military. Therefore, it is inevitable that you will be successful out of the military.
Love to hear it!!
The animated intro 👌🏾 🔥 Thank you for your inspirational testimonial! I feel more comfortable knowing someone of my demographic has successfully achieved and surpassed their goals and expectations utilizing this program. Thanks again. 🤗🤩
Love the video. Informative and inspiring!
Wow, I got teary eyed. 💪🏽. You are worth it! So proud of you. I’m trying to get like you!
thank you so much for this information! it will definitely help me with my own skillbridge journey moving forward
Good job! Thanks for sharing.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video!
I can’t wait to hit my 20 and get into this program. One of the best things the Navy has to offer.
Proud of You, good Job!
OMG You hit so many emotional trigger points within me in this post. I really can relate to every single talking point you discussed, especially at the end when you spoke about "success" and it essentially being relative. I have struggled so much internally with the idea of success, my career aspirations, burden of financial debt, etc. After going through school and serving in the Air Force over 9 years, I am finally attempting to take steps towards my own version of success - Sustainable happiness is tranquility, peace, and comfort in this world filled with social abnormalities, biases, and economic inequality. Thank you so much for affirming my outlook on this subject and being transparent with your journey. Peace and prosperity, love!
Wow. Thank you so much for sharing. It means so much to me because sometimes we can feel alone in our thoughts and we don’t know we aren’t until someone else shares. I’m so glad it resonated with you . And over 9 years in service whew you go !
@@legallyblack9418 so true, I feel so isolated in my thoughts often times. It's so refreshing to know someone else sees a particular subject the way I do.
@@legallyblack9418 Were your lodging accommodations covered by the company or did you manage the cost? If this is private information, I understand.
I needed this video!!!

Man Im glad I watched this, currently a YN w/ 3 years left on my contract trying to start the transition into tech lol great video!
Thank you so much for this video
Thank you for watching ! Hope you got some good info!
Wow. You're an inspiration.
I absolutely agree with you, especially towards the end when you mention success. 2018 I registered my business under "Guided By Success" the brands philosophy is based on the same idea you mentioned here! Out journey towards our version of success is what guides us into making certain decisions and taking certain actions. Although there are few CZcamsr's talking about skillbridge I'm glad I came across your story. Definitely a motivational boost😃
Absolutely!
I absolutely love everything about this video especially the intro! Keep it up! I love it! 🥰😍
Thank you so much !!
I love your intro! This video was very informative I am currently looking into skill bridge! You story is encouraging on not selling yourself short! This video has got me excited to transition out!
Thank you so much !!!
Great info
Thank you for this video, I’m very excited and happy for your success. I’ve been thinking of leaving the military (hm2) and don’t really know which route I would like to take. Thinking of completely switching my career to a more technical/computer science/analyst/admin centered job. My EAOS is a year and a half of from now. On top of that, I’m currently 1-2 years away from my math degree and really looking for a job that will give me the time to start and finish my masters after regular working hours.
Could you tell me the name of the position you skill bridged for please? Thank you!
System engineer
All I can conjure up to say is...THANK YOU
No thank you !
I absolutely loved youre video and message! I’m sorry force and I’m also going through the skill bridge route. My path is different from yours but your video was still informative and inspiring!
Are you still going through the process? I have questions.
@@128722t yes I am. What’s up
@@DeAnaira how does the seperation part work to ensure you dont have to return to your command? Also does the company send anything to prove they have selected you as an applicant? And if you have insta or facebook you can contact me on there which would be easier. Facebook: trevon raysean. Insta: rayseanh1

6 figures is decent money in DC if you live on the Maryland side. I’m so happy for you! You have me motivated to talk to the chief/commander for SkillBridge. You are motivating! Would your company happen to have corporate Jets and looking for a technician?
Exactly what I was thinking. Making 6 figures and living in Maryland. Probably the best way to see your money grow.
At 18…can’t wait until 20!
Great video! I have a question regarding when when I should start skillbridge. If hard separation date with the navy is in July, do I base the 180 days off of that date or do I base it off of my 30 days terminal date in June? Maybe you had experience with this?
Thank you ! Every command is different however my command would not allow me to take both Skillbridge and terminal. My contract was up in May but my Skillbridge ended in April . Instead of going back to work for a month I took regular leave. Signed on with the company took about a two week break and went straight to work. This way I got paid both by the military and the company . I would suggest you base it off of your terminal leave. Have a bit overlap for multiple income but I would not suggest taking a full 30 days after the internship before you try to get a permanent job with them . Does that make sense ?
Hey boo I’m the creator of beauty in boots. Love the video
I love that group!
Great video! I’m 10 months from separation, 4 moths form starting the Skill-bridge program.
I am so proud for you I’m going through the same thing right now and Iam amazed. It’s crazy how most of the people in the military try to scare you and say your going to struggle then soon as you get out you have high 5 and 6 figure jobs blowing your phone up ! Lol for those of you out there trying to start a new life don’t let fear stop your blessing !
Thank you so much for this video! I am currently in the same situation you were in, but in the USAF. I don't know anyone who has gone through the program with a TS. Is there any way to contact you?
Sure! You can message me on my Instagram poeticj_
@@legallyblack9418 same here can I message you? I don't have Instagram, but I do have LinkedIn.
My husband and I have so many questions!!! First of all, you're gorg! Second, were you getting paid during skill bridge and was it by military &/or the company? If military did they cover your housing and substance?
Thank you! Yep the military paid me my base. pay and BAH!
Congratulation on landing an awesome job! So agencies that are not on the skillbridge page can be apply to? What is the procedure for that?
Thank you ! Yes they can. Your command and the company both sign the memo with the terms of agreement
@@legallyblack9418 Hi, where can I find this memo? Do you mind sharing? Thank you!
Is it the one on skillbridge website?
Im currently a year out and I’m looking into it and I’m terrified.. sis I need HELP 😭
Dope story. Appreciate the info. I will be transitioning soon as well.
Great video! I'm currently in the process of picking an internship program for Skillbridge. This was super insightful. Do you have any more information/advice?
TAXES! When finding a company have an idea about the salary they will offer you when the internship is finished. When figuring out your salary account for taxes that will be taken out of your pay in the civilian world. For me as a second class no dependents a six figure salary was only about a $1,000 increase on my check.
Be mindful of the company you choose and make sure you are going gain real knowledge that will help you maintain you way of living when you get out.
I just completed my Skillbridge, and I recommended all my guys to take a look at it. Staring down a 80+ job once terminal leave start end of this month.
What skillbride program did you do??
Hey I'm soon to retire and I'm going back to the DMV as well. I'm wanting to do the CSP or DoD Skillbridge. How can we get more information?
Heyy! Congratulations on retirement!
Dod Skillbridge now has a website at dodskillbridge.usalearning.gov/
But I would also check with your command to see if they have any extra requirements
Open to civilians or no?
This video was extremely inspiring and a great story
Thank you very much !!
Did the company accommodate your stay during the 6 months of Skillbridge or did you have to pay out of pocket for your lodging?
I paid out of pocket. Since the military still pay your your BAH when in the program , I was covered
@@legallyblack9418 Thanks
I think the equivalent of this job in the Army is cryptologic linguist analyst or 35P. This is really inspiring.
yeah the army called themselves 35S
@@zacharivs 35S cleans the mopo.
Can you join the program even after separating but still while being Reservist?
That’s a good question. The program has specific time restraints. If you are already separated I don’t think you can join. As a reservist you get paid for the time you have duty that month. If you don’t go to duty because of the program I’d assume they would not still pay you. However I would definitely talk to your chain of command at the end of the day they have to sign off on it.
Boring...............................................
You must be getting kicked out Brian. Lol
Are you kidding me right now -_-
