But the DFB is still captured in old structures and mindsets and is nowadays a complete mess. They renewed the Education of young players, but not the DFB himself... Just until recently, since France didn®t do anything before 1998, outside a brillant WC in 1982 reaching semifinals. While Germany had an amazing team in 1954 (WC Champions), 1966 (Lost WC the final in Wembley against England to a goal which really was not inside, the ghost goal), Lost the Worldcup Seminfinal in 1970 against Italy, in what is considererd the Game of the Century, 1974 (WC Champions), 1982 (Lost the WC Final against Italy), 1986 (lost WC final against Maradonnas Argentina), 1990 WC chanpion against Maradonnas Argentina... And yes then came the dark period (not so dark as they lost the WC Final against Ronaldos Brazil in 2002), and then Finally the golden generation won the 2014 WC in Brazil with an outstanding display of football. France success is very recent, 1998, 2018. It seems that Germany likes to win WC specially in years with 4s (except 1990) while France in years with 8s. 😃

Of course we don't know the future results of the tournaments, but we got the quality and potential through all the good work people put at the academies, or how to develop young and good players. That was the point of the video. We never got so many talents as nowadays. Same for the coaches, who are pretty successful, even outside of europe (Klopp, Tuchel). But it also provided a culture where great individualist were sorted out early because the teamwork is the most important. Well sure its important but in modern football on the highest level you also need players who wont be afraid to go in 1v1 situations and solve them to create space for other players. Today in germany our best 1v1 individualist is jamal musiala who was trained in england. We need to adapt a mentality in the football academys here in germany where both abilitys are promoted. As Chris Kane correctly stated above, Germany has always recruited most of Bayern Munich and a couple of other players to make up their team. In the era 1970 - 1978, the fowarders and the defenders came from Bayern, the midfield players from Mönchengladbach, then the second best team in the Bundesliga. Now compare Premier League clubs (or the First Division in the past). Englishmen, Scots, Welshmen and Northern Irishmen in one team, but four different national teams. The coach of the Three Lions could never take the whole Man United or Liverpool team and let them play for England because of this factor.
    Nowadays, it's even more complicated, with all the foreigners playing in the Premier League clubs, but even if many foreigners are also now playing in the Bundesliga, the German coach can still fall back on the majority of German players in the Bayern Munich or Dortmund teams. However, Jogi Löw failed to do that since 2018, introducing players from all over the shop. The result was what we have just seen in the match against England at Wembley in the 2020/21 Euro ;
    England 2 : Germany 0.

    At the 2022 Worldcup, the National Elf sucks.
    They play without drive, ambition, motivation.
    It's painful to watch.
    Forget playing a polite game and fight. 👊

    The academy system in Germany is one of the best in the world, but it has some draw backs, which you can see in the current national team. I love that Klose was mentioned in this video, because he wasn't an academy player. And maybe it is good that he wasn't an academy player, because in his early career Klose was good at mostly one thing and that is scoring goals. He learned pressing and tactics at a later stage when he was already a professional footballer.
    In a German academy if you're only good at one thing, like scoring goals for example you're usually not promoted or even let go by the academy, even if you're REALLY GOOD at the one thing you do.
    That's part of the problem why Germany has no clinical finisher like Klose in their current squad.
    Also their best performer at Euro 2020 Robin Gosens was also let go of his youth academy.

    Italy needs to implement this system. After back to back failures for WC qualifications, this system will improve the national team

    Th problem is also, that other countries dont have respect for goalkeepers and defenders. Especially in South America, which got a lot of awesome offense players but does not get the value of an Arne Friedrich, Mertesacker or JĂŒrgen Kohler.
