- The Copper Penny Dump Hunt - Why I Stack Copper Pennies
I picked up 100 rolls of customer wrapped pennies from my bak in hopes of finding a bunch of wheat cents, varieties or even some copper for my stack. I figured out pretty quickly that this was not going to be an ordinary hunt...
Keep hunting and good luck!
They're still out there for us to find!

Hey now
Bak?
It's strange how people talk about all the profits, they've been making through trading of bitcoin, while am here making huge loses. Please can Someone put me through on the right path or at least advise me on what strategy to follow .
I lost £1200 carelessly trading on a
platform before I was referred to Mr Roy Louis, he recovered the loss and made an extra profit of £4600..I will advice you should stop trading on your own if you keep losing and start trading with Mr Roy trading services.. Consistency is key
Wow...amazing to see another investor who trades with Mr Roy , i am currently on my 5th trade with him and my portfolio has grown tremendously.
You don't need to be shock because I'm also a huge beneficiary of expert Mr Roy trading services .. Earning from india🖐️
it's not about watching videos about trading and wasting your time on strategies like i was ignorantly doing earlier I was still making losses until Mr Roy started managing my investments now I make approximately $7000 weekly. God bless him , he has been a blessing to my family.
Greetings!! from Canada, Expert Roy is my portfolio manager he also carries out both orientation and mentorship
Love pennies my youngest son just won 25 dollars at his science fair last night and wants to take it to the bank and get his own box lol
Or you can get one of robs penny coins mats on eBay if he doesn’t have one already. Then spend the rest on rolls
Rob, you went through all that effort to find out your exact total profit, but forgot to deduct the sheet of paper!
Dang it!! 😂
The ink is the expensive part 😂
Holy Copper Batman!! That's a lot of copper!! Nice copper dump!!
That was a pretty cool hunt Rob. Wouldn't mind seeing how much profit you make just from Copper alone after 6 months or a year like you do when you do a yearly silver profit tally.
My best penny box I ever had, had a little shy of 800 copper Pennies!
And I thought that was great!!
The "nerding out" is my favorite part. I was doing the math before you even mentioned it !
That hunt was just plain "weird", Rob. Not the fact that there just wasn't anything there other than the copper. All I've ever hit with customer wrapped rolls so far in my hunts is bupkis, so that's not shocking to me. Not one wheatie in any of those 5000 cents? That's astonishing to me. When I go through rolls if I get a coin like a wheatback that I already have in my collection, I end up rerolling it to the bank so someone else can find it. I know not everyone does that but I don't see the point with having another 1958-D penny in my collection. It's basically worth a "cent" and no more. Let someone else enjoy the thrill of the hunt! Thanks for showing us another coin roll hunt! Love ya, RFT!!!!
Thank you Rob for this video. We have been watching your videos for a long time, you are an inspiration. Mrs. Empire
You'll never go broke saving copper!
That's all speculation for when the U.S. follows Canada and Australia and discontinue the use of penny's. I know that you are very knowledgeable and we can't legally melt U.S. coins. But you may need a warehouse to store them until that happens. Good luck Rob and keep your excellent content flowing.
You can't melt pennies or nickels but you can melt silver (and gold) coins. It's not worth storing copper. The time, money, storage, and physical labor is not worth it. 1. It is illegal to melt. 2. Even if it were legal, it is not Grade A 100% copper, it is an alloy and scrap dealers will only pay you a max of 25% of spot. Copper would have to go to $6 to break even. 3. The high was 5.02 and the current spot is 4.05.
I have a giant coke bottle piggy bank that's almost full of copper cents (there's $152.90 in it) the coke bottle now weighs over 105 pounds, I got all of this within the span of 7 months, most of it was within the span of July to November
Interesting video. I enjoy your hunt and fill series. Nice video..
I’d like to see your complete copper stack
Shame on the lack of wheaties but it's always good fun regardless if you can walk away with some copper
Crazy copper!! Thanks Rob!!
That's a lot of copper! holy Copper Batman
Been loving the videos rob, they were the main reason why I started doing album filling
Very cool Rob! Gotta say...love your new intro!!! Nice!
Thanks for the video!
Great video rob thank you for sharing 👍
Interesting hunt for sure. Thanks for sharing Rob! Happy Hunting! Stephen
Hey Rob I loved this video. I love the information you've given us. I love for you for do it again. Gather up all the copper in the year and make big melt video. I wonder what it is going to be.
Great video, love it
...but Rob - we did have fun with this hunt. Thanks for all you give us - love your channel! Chuck in NE Kansas
Very informative on saving copper thanks rob for sharing see you on the next one 👍🏼👊🏼
Wow! That was a lot of copper. Nice profit off those two boxes.
Informative and fun
Wow, even though you didn't have any finds that was a huge copper addition to your collection brother, I think I'm gonna start saving my copper pennies now that you showed that breakdown, thanks Rob 👍
thanks for the video
You should show us how you store all your copper pennies
As an Accountant: math can be fun.
Rob, thanks for your great videos! Starting to make my own piles of copper now too. So you told us a "melt" value, but what is the endgame for you? I don't think we're melting or recycling US coins, right? So how will the value in your copper penny stack be realized for you or for your family when you pass? I've started my stack, but have no idea what to plan on doing with it LOL.
Rob you are amazing. Only you can turn a sausage sandwich into a steak dinner. Love the video and more copper to ya!👍🏻😂💪🏻🇺🇸
I always see you keep the copper sorted, do you have 55 gallon barrels buried in your backyard or do you have a source that buys them for copper spot? If so can you share who you sell it to. As I can't find a buyer of coins for the metal spot values
Hey Rob, love your videos, been watching awhile...Wondered if you save your 2009 pennies. I'd imagine you're very busy with comments, but an answer would make my day. Thanks for all your content!
Basically 3 90s and a 2 40s. Not bad!
You can tell search one by a tick mark on the rolls like a dot or a plus, when I re roll I stuff back the wheats 1910, 1917, 1920 , 1930 ALL 40/50 . so that really wont tell you., these are like the unsearched boxes on ebay I bought high dollars and nothing in them
Sounds to me when you only found 09 and older that it was probably a 5 gallon jug that sat in storage and the new stuff was from other units that had some or theirs
Sorry you didn't get any wheat pennies but congratulations on getting 14.7 lbs of copper pennies thanks for sharing Rob
This was definitely different, but enjoyable
Copper King, Keep Stackin bro
I don't mind customer wrapped rolls, Sometimes alot more copper, Usually no wheat cents though.
All the copper makes the hunt worthwhile.
That's a load of copper. I have all my copper rolled and boxed. I currently have 27 boxes of 1960 to 1982 P&D copper pennies. Where can I sell them for the weight value?
nothing wrong with making a nice profit on copper pennies here in nova scotia Canada copper is about 5. 45 per pound so a good return here to
Hello
That is melt value if you could melt it, which is illegal currently, because they have not discontinued the penny. Currently it costs more to produce a penny than its value, so I can’t imagine it will be too much longer before they do completely nix the penny. That doesn’t stop me from collecting copper because one day they will.
I’m just starting out coin roll hunting and I’m wondering what bank you use
2893 zinc Pennie’s. The total Penny’s was 4,999. I still liked this video despite no Wheaties
To be accurate, you only have 95% times the total weight of copper pennies in copper metal.
hello, I just watched your video on the two boxes of pennies in the video you searched the boxes you really didn’t find any wheat pennies. You separated the zinc from the copper you said you made is $38 and some change profit how did you dispose of the pennies? Did you melt them down for scrap ?
We medically-inclined folks would normally ask about yellow eyes or skin out of concern for liver failure due to copper toxicity if we see that much!
Gresham's law says we'll cull all the copper cents until they are gone.
So where do u sell your copper if u were ready like would u sell it like sliver coins or take it to a scrap yard like how
Where do you take the copper pennies for recycling? Who takes them and pays you?
👍
8:23 you actually had 2893 zinc pennies because of that one dime
I hunted my first box of pennies today and ended up with 1303 grams of copper
what do you end up doing with all your copper? i have 50-100lbs of it and dont know what to do with it.
What do you do with all the copper??
A different sot of penny hunt.
Sorry Brother but yout math was wrong... you have only 4999 pennys... + one dime... in your math theres 5000 pennys + one dime ;) :D Love youre vids!
do you keep the copper pennies or do you sell them??
time for the silver jar to change his diet? This video is also why I keep copper.
in your calculations, did you include the 59's and 69-S in the copper weight?
Yes
Have you found places that pay melt value for copper pennies? I know it's still illegal to melt them for profit.
I was going to ask the same thing. I'm new the coin collection but I had heard it's illegal to melt them so I don't understand how it's profitable to search this way.
Until the Federal Government ends circulation of minted US cents it’s illegal to melt these copper Pennies. There may be unscrupulous metal scrapers doing so right now but it’s against Federal Law. I think most people like Rob are saving these copper pennies till the day the Mint ends producing Pennie’s. I know I am saving the copper ones for that day. FYI🤔
@@spooderdoggy that was my assumption. But when he talked about profit instead of value, I had to wonder. I'm guessing by the time they stop, copper will either be the same or higher but I never count chickens before they hatch sort to speak.
@@richardbianco9674 Rob is saying at this moment here’s what I am making on these boxes. The price could go up or down. But, with the way the fools in DC are running America and it’s debt, my bet is we will se a higher price. Pols in DC just can help themselves.🤦🏻♂️😂
@@spooderdoggy while I agree with most of that, the price of copper won't have much to do with what they do.
Not as Fun, but still interesting!
Rob , I keep all my copper Pennie’s as well , easily have more than 500 pounds or more at this point, do you think that once the government stops making the cent , that then they will be legal to scrap for the metal content?
Im guessing it will be. Nothing to stop anyone with a smelter to do it anyway. I wouldn't because if its ever needed as a currency, being recognizable will help
Getting rid of the penny will not be easy. To do so, Congress must enact a law that removes the penny from circulation. It must also direct the U.S. Mint, a bureau of the U.S. Treasury, to stop producing them
✌️
It doesn't look like your math accounted for the pennies only being 95% copper.
In my penny hunt boxes, I don't find much of anything especially wheat cents. I always keep the copper pennies as a way to stay motivated looking for treasures.
Question - if it’s illegal to melt these pennies for their copper content, what is the practical use of stacking copper?
Its a long game. Wait till the government no longer exists or the law changes.
Just like any PM it will never really decrease in value.
How does he tell if the coin is copper? The date or the look?
Anything pre 1982 is copper. Anything after 1982 is zinc. 1982 has both copper and zinc and you can determine which it is by weight
@@markae0 if the penny weighs 3 grams or more it’s copper. Also anything before 1982 is copper. In 1982 part of the year they made copper coins and part of the year they made zinc ones. A digital mail scale can assist you in this endeavor.
I noticed you pull aside 1959 pennies, are they a key date?
Just a transition year he says
Forgive the noob question, but Why 1959?
Yep, this is my typical hunt. I think was returned wheat penny hunt. Most wheat penny hunters don't save copper.
I find that perplexing. Copper cents are literally fractional copper bullion that you can buy way under spot. I keep and separate my wheats and keep all the copper
What about the extra 9 cents from the dime?
It’s in the recap. 😱
B
BOOM! 💥
Congrats
How do you flip the copper for cash ifn you cant melt them down?
Stack it till the government collapses or the law changes.
@@marquestreasures we could go the way of our northern folks and get the pennies dropped but it's a hard sell in our government
Precious metals aren't used for "flipping"
@@Harry-Sachs sure they are. Maybe not sooner but later you want to get paid or what's the sense of stacking it to begin with?!?!
@@lordeagle100 Flipping usually means short term profits, I believe that's what Harry meant when he quoted it.
А в США можно сдавать монеты на медь?
First!?
2nd!
@@RobFindsTreasurelol
Why do you keep copper pennies?
I save copper as well.
Very interesting outro. Can you do more outros like that? Cool video nonetheless.
You left out the $21 in profit for the zinc that your returning to the bank.
What is he/are you doing with the copper?
Oh, rob explained it further into the vid. Just asking, is that legal to melt those in us? In europe that isn't legal with euro. But I think it wouldn't even be profitable here
Putting it where the sun doesn't shine of course
Hi. It might belong to a deceased person that his inheritance deposited into the bank.
Isn’t that possible profit. You can’t melt them right. So they’re still only a penny
It is possible profit. That being said, there are many buyers out there who love to buy bulk copper cents by the pound. I don't sell them (yet) but I have them should I decide to.
Will you sell copper pennies for scrap if it becomes legal? I have been hoarding copper for years thinking that eventually they will stop making pennies.
Aren't all pennies copper?
It's not worth storing copper. The time, money, storage, and physical labor is not worth it. 1. It is illegal to melt. 2. Even if it were legal, it is not Grade A 100% copper, it is an alloy and scrap dealers will only pay you a max of 25% of spot. Copper would have to go to $6 to break even. 3. The high was 5.02 and the current spot is 4.05.
Ha, if you were in San Diego, California I'd think you hit one of my dumps, been saving copper for about 40 years, been searching for varieties and errors, but the majority I have been putting in rolls and getting rid of
I can't hunt those coins because I have a wheat allergy
Maybe it is a metal detectoriest cashing in all there finds
So you are suggesting that you and your viewers should melt their copper cents??
Nope. Never said that.
Are you allowed to melt copper pennies????
Considering you can't actually melt any of it, doesn't really seem to make much sense to keep the copper.
It makes perfect sense
What if you take the copper to another country? Then melt it down at that location. Cost of the fuel to melt the copper would probably kill your profit though.
A: play the wait game and hope that the laws change in your life time B: melt it anyways, as who is going to know? C: go visit your friend in Canada and melt it up there
you made nothing since it's illegal to melt US Copper cents.
