K Will I know, I grew up not to far from there, and worked in that community for like 10 years. My Grandma moved there in 1960, and my Uncle used to own the duplexes that she lived in, but a lot of the homes that are occupied by blacks are rented, not all of them, but quite a bit , especially a lot of the apartments in Leimert Park are owned by a lot of Chinese, and Koreans, even the Well known "Liquor Bank" , store where they filmed the movie "Baby Boy", it was a goldmine for the owners in the 60's, 70's and the 80's, they had a deli inside that served fresh sandwiches, and they used to deliver Large Liquor orders to the Celebrities that lived in the Community not too far away, like Baldwin Hillls, I remember as a kid, my father driving us through Baldwin hills showing us Ray Charles Home, and other Celebs, but after the 70's quite a few of them moved away.
K Will The genrification part I'm referring to is the properties that a lot of blacks used to own, but no longer have ownership, especially the commercial property, and also the businesses, you can own the businesses, but the Landlords are the real ones that make the money, they sit back and rather the business make money or not, they collect their rent every month. Look at the liquor stores in the area, majority of the licenses are owned by the Koreans, and the land is owned by Jews, not all of it, but a nice amount of it, I think Slauson Liquor is owned by Koreans, they seen the weakness in the Black community in the 80's from the drugs and gang violence, and creeped in and bought all the liquor licenses and businesses from the blacks that had ownership in the 60s, and 70s, after the Jews migrated further West.
K Will So I'm Proud to see Nipsey do what the Blacks have been doing, back in the 60s, and 70s , he's just being a real businessman, which is a good example for the community to follow, if a lot more people start to follow his trend, then the community will grow and repair itself over time.

The more and more i hear about how he positively impacted OUR community, the more it hurts to see this brother lose his life. I listened to his music knew about his business but i didn't know it was to this extent. My heart goes out to his family, all the brothers/sisters in Crenshaw......this hurts us as a whole.
