Carrying a 2 lbs rock is not the same as pushing someone off a bike and intentionally hurting them… All this is, is a guy on the spectrum that is socially inept and doesn’t like jokes.
Pulled this gag a few times. Standing in formation with packs for long hours, we'd pick a guy and slip one rock in at a time. After a few hours he's going man this pack just keep getting heavier. When he finally realized something was up, wed slipped at least 50lb of rocks in there lol. He was not happy.
He's got a point though. Unplanned expenditure of energy when you're about to commit to free climbing something could absolutely hinder his ability to judge what to do and not do while climbing.
Arguably one of the most important clips of Alex we could all see. That subtle reminder that he is indeed a human and not some climbing cyborg from the future. He is so chill and calm it’s uncanny. My brother put three good sized rocks in our cousins backpack on a 5 mile hike to Crypt lake Alberta. He was already a “big” boy. Sweeting like a butcher he would rest periodically. “ Man, this pack feels heavy!” He was a little upset when he found those rocks.
