Shannel is truly the epitome of Drag Race LEGEND. It’s such a shame that she isn’t getting the edit or representation that she deserves as she really did set such a standard for Drag Race.

My issue with Gottmik's plagiarism.is that it seemed lazy. She couldve at least pulled from multiple sources/roasts and tweaked them more to disguise their source. But no, not only did they pull it from one comedia, it was from a single roast.
They all had cellphones toooo. She was lazy and thought she could get away with it
Right like everyone else that used recycled material at least reworked it or changed the phrasing. Gottmik might as well have used a tape recorder and just played clips from Nikki’s standup into the microphone.

i think production is involved more than we know when it comes to the queens' jokes. I feel like they probably suggested it or at least okayed it.

I lived for the Baroque Look. Perfectly executed, the presentation of the “Marie Antoinette” type gown that has been seen before felt elevated and one of the best on Drag Race. Imho.

Shannel has been so stunning in every look so far she has such presence and such incredible personality on stage it's a pleasure to watch.
Drag Race is supposed to be a contest. In a comedy roast challenge, the judges want to judge the contestants on how funny they are. If the jokes aren't your own, you're not competing fairly. The other queens should be competing against Gottmik, not Nikki Glaser.
Be careful being too passionate about facts. The Gottmik brigade will attack you for being “transphobic”

That's not exactly true. Yes they are wanting to see how funny each queen is. But "funny" is 95% delivery. 5% content. Most of the funniest comedians you know don't write all... or even most of their content. They are just REALLY good at delivering it.
I think it really helps to see comedians as very specific forms of actors.
@@robertbeste of course, professional comics have writing partners etc. but do you think all of the drag race contestants ALSO had jokes written by high level comics like Nikki Glaser? Also Nikki didn't write those jokes for Gottmik or for the occasion. Gottmik took/used Nikki's jokes that were written for a different roast altogether. If Drag Race wanted to assign famous comics as co-writers to ALL the queens, that would be different.

I think I stronger argument is that she was lazy and didn’t a curate a better set of jokes from several sources more suited to her.

She is such a legend, so articulated, and a mature queen. She stated it so clear, no doubts, and with grace. Shannel might not have won many badges, but she has won all the fan badges, she has done amazing being the first queen to walk into the werk room so many years ago.

@@beeradley1788 At the end of this video it explains that Shannel's innocence is corroborated by security footage and witnesses that all she took from that woman (who got hers and her groups tickets refunded to her) was $2 that the women gave to her as a tip. The woman was forced to take the videos down because her claims were proven to be false. Shame that Shannel was still punished by losing bookings and etc. And apparently people still hold false claims against her.

Shannel deserved at least one or two top placements, but production needs to keep up the narrative of giving her zero maxi challenge wins. If you watch the latest video, there is a moment when you see Shannel doing Gottmik's makeup.
Comic writer Bruce Vilanch has been a guest judge on several iterations of Drag Race and has even written material for the show. Since Gottmik and the comedian are friends, it is likely the comedian knew and the "controversy" created production drama for the show.
I am disgusted by the "Karen" that tried to take advantage of Shannel and the casino. Shannel is not allowed to counter sue because it would reflect badly on the casino and number one rule in Vegas is don't mess the casinos making money or you will find yourself buried in the Nevada desert.
Michelle hates Marie Antionette outfits because it brings back memories of Madonna's MTV Vogue performance and her infatuation back then was a rivalry, She loves Madonna now, but it wasn't always so. Yes, It has been done, so what, Shannel looked GORGE! (as usual)

I remember that challenge from season 1. Drag Race didn't take itself so seriously back then. I can't watch anymore. Love the queens, but All Stars and VS the World just feel like "queens that the audience wants to see again" or sometimes just "Ru's favorite queens". I don't need these extra series anymore. It would at least be better if we didn't see the same queens over and over again. Every time I see a joke about Jujubee on a new season, I half believe it.
I'm a bit confused, did Nayasha first say that copying someone else' jokes was "Wrong. Period" and then agreed with Shannel that it wasn't that bad? English isn't my first language but that was what it sounded like

Writers are artist like wig makers and costume designers. Even if someone "changed the jokes" it'd still be wrong. Like "lifting" someone else's art. If we keep "moving the goal post" of what's right or wrong with art, then we'll need to keep it the same with all mediums. And that means your signature makeup, costumes, writing, vision, style, hell your name and over all "self"... is all up for grabs by someone who may have a bigger platform, audience or current status. Obvi all this would be beyond frustrating 4 everyone so... let's keep the goal post where it belongs. Don't lift, don't steal. If Shannel really does dream of going on camera she should start a CZcams channel where she controls the content and showcases what she is proud of. She could do interactive content with people because that seems to be where she shines, and drag race currently doesn't consider how you perform as a host. Which kind of is a huge part of drag. We usually look to the queens like the ones hosting the event even if they just show up lol
Why was there no poll results for last weeks episode?
See if that information change some of the “fans” minds before crucifying some Queen for not doing well specially the early seasons. And before assuming that the Queen missed the mark on a “Runway look” most times they are told it’s for something and then production change the whole thing last minute.

This isn't an issue of "ghost writers." A ghost writer creates new content, and doesn't recycle other people's content. This was material already out in the ethos. And Gotmik's laissez faire attitude toward it "You think that we actually write our own jokes" is totally lazy. btw... Im totally buying that sleeping mask... Sorry, but all of those excuses and justifications re Gottmik's stealing Nikki Glaser's material are BS. Yes, comedians sometimes use writers, but it's a JOB and they get paid for it. The artist/show approaches the writers, they state what they need, they agrees heads of business, then the writer provides the material, the copyright is decided, a credit appears at the end of the show, and the performance goes ahead with everyone being happy with the outcome. What Gottmik did is pretty much the same as someone stealing book content, or copying music or the performance format of a song. She didn't ask permission, the writer wasn't paid, and calling Nikki her queen, and 'gorge' doesn't cut it. Individually, jokes are made to be shared, and sneaking in one of Nikki's gags amongst her own efforts probably would have been acceptable, but the whole set? As for her 'executing' them, a few huge musical artistes have 'executed' less successful artists material, yet still ended up in court and getting their cheque book out, so let's call this what it is, plagiarism. Mik should publicly apologise to Nikki and offer her retrospective payment, and even if she lets it slide, this should be a lesson learned and a line drawn re respecting another party's creative work - period.

I didn’t know about it until now but saying someone stole $700 when it was complete BS and costing them $18k in canceled bookings sounds like slander and a lost wages case to me (although I’m not a lawyer and it sounds like Shannel just wants to be done with it)
The customer didn’t lie.. it’s on video. It wasn’t two singles but a wad of cash. The customer had legal standing to sue her and the business who allowed her to steal money.

Her getting a lawyer means nothing?? R. Kelly and O.J. Simpson had lawyers too. Any person of reasonable intelligence going into a legal issue would get a lawyer.
For starters: Humor always comes from somewhere. Even people like Jinkx or Bianca take stuff from somewhere and use it. Gottmik did the same, albeit a bit clumsier than others.

I hate that theyre comparing PLAGIARISM to "having a ghost writer". Those are NOT the same thing. Having a ghost writer is PAYING someone to help you but Gotmik just very lazily STOLE an almost entire set of jokes word for word from someone. Id even forgive her if they were just heavily inspired, like how most of Plastiques set were, only at least plastique seems to have taken from multiple sources (i dont think she even paid a ghost writer, i think she looked up a compilation of greatest roast moments lol but at least she changed them a bit.
What Gotmik did is especially gross and nasty because she stole from A FRIEND who would have helped them write their own jokes for FREE. There's no fkn way Nikki gave gotmik permission to use an entire set word for word, no WAY, but now Nikki is in an awkward position where she has to comfort Gotmik for all the hate shes getting and stand by her friend even though they literally stole from her. It puts nikki in a lose lose situation where if she says publicly she is okay w what Gotmik did she looks weak, and like she is okay with joke stealing and plagiarism which will ostracise her in the comedy community which is already so misogynistic, OR if she stands up for herself against her friend everyone will call her a cold hearted bitch, who doesnt have anh empathy for her friend, rumours will spread that she is a backstabber who gave gotmik permission in private and then jumped on the band wagon of hate when public opinion went against gotmik.
