I'm 60 years old and can honestly tell you that there were thyroid issues when I was young. To see a fat person, would have the same effect as spotting an alien! Everyone would stare. It was a very rare thing to see. We didn't have fast food in those days. we ate correctly and children were outside running about all day having fun. Now people eat themselves silly, don't move from their chair and have their children doing the same. They're gonna die earlier than they should!
Exactly. You can have as many issues as you'd like. But energy doesn't just stop working because of your thyroid. Energy in vs energy out is still a thing. It may be easier for some than others, but that's true for everything.
I agree but, people are living longer as we have the medical means to prolong the lives of people that treated their bodies like shit. The NHS spends £6BN annually on obesity which is set to increase to £10BN by 2050 if the obesity trend continues.
There are diseases in the world that are not seeing those figures to help in research and the people suffering from these diseases did nothing to cause it.
I had a friend die from MND and they don't get the money for research that the NHS spends on people who cannot say no to seconds.
I know people will start saying it is not that easy to stop over-eating but I have been there and it is if you have the motivation. I lost 7 stone in 4 years (which is not even quick) so I could be with my family and friends for longer and a big part of that was looking at myself in a full-length mirror every morning when I woke and accepting I could not keep living this way, I literally could not keep living the way I was.
So when people say they cannot do it yes they can but it will require effort and not just a Wegovy injection.
I'm almost amazed by slim parents who have fat kids, it's a form of child neglect.

Most comedians are pretty normal down to earth and if sat down an talked they would agree with the obvious dissecting of joke not being 100% true or facts. They are just poking fun at the avg and will always be some exception. I think Jerry Sienfield said it best. A comedian will say any random string of words or sounds as long as it gets a laugh. Very often its not personal at all.

He's hilarious. The hard bit about getting fat is our bodies crave things that make us put on weight. In ancient times, easily adding a bit of fat could mean the difference between life and death during periods of scarcity. The problem is, there is no scarcity now. We still have the urge to binge on calorie-dense foods, and food scientists have engineered foods to be irresistible-- I can't remember the industry term, but they have one for the optimum amount of fat, salt, and sugar to make you crave a product. Giant food portions don't help either. I use an app to track calorie intake and output and it's helped.

People with thyroid issues are no different when you think about it - the laws of physics still apply in the same way. All it means is that their bodies burn calories *more slowly* than other people, so they must compensate by taking on *fewer calories* than other people. It's much harder work (absolutely!) but the principle is the same.
Think of it like a bucket with a hole in the bottom being filled from a tap/faucet. If more water goes into the bucket than leaks out through the hole then the level will rise and the bucket will eventually overflow. In this analogy, a thyroid problem is like having a smaller hole in the bottom of the bucket - if you turn the tap down a bit more you can still prevent the water from overflowing. Also in this analogy, the bucket probably has a lovely bubbly personality. :)
12.4% of human beings are affected by thyroid issues vs 39% of the global population of people overweight. It is a fallacy that people use to excuse their social issues which ultimately lead to their weight.
I read the other day that people are eating at MacDonalds more these days because they can't afford to buy food at the supermarkets due to the rise in costs of vegetables etc. So it's sometimes not choice, it's all people can afford, in saying that MacDonalds isn't exactly cheap food these days.

Yes, there are people with thyroid problems and the like. But there are WAY more people claiming they have thyroid problems than actual people with it. Statistically less than 1% of overweight people in the US have these issues because of health problems. 99% are really just overeating. About 30% claim they have thyroid issues or something similar, though...

Weight loss Still only depends on one thing a persons will power!!! no matter the diet or if you have your stomach stapled or have lipo suction surgery. you still have to change the way you eat and make the choice to eat things like chicken or fish or turkey instead of beef and pork, its making the choice to eat a salad instead of 1/2 a dozen donuts, maybe the salad and 2 donuts lol!!!😁😁👍👍 I dont enjoy eating food like i once did. its also about avoiding places like Mcdonalds and other crappy american fast food and choosing to cook and eat at home and yes getting out an exercising is part of it too Im now struggling to walk because of being too heavy for too long and other health issues which is what happens we you become too much of a couch potato😂😂
People do struggle with conditions i.e thyroid issues etc. But he is right. If your input is more than your output you gain weight, if your input is less than your output you lose weight.

I read somebody say that people eat bad food because they want to get fat. No, we eat bad food because it taste good which makes us feel good, the consequence being getting fat. The consequence isn't the desired situation. If healthy food tastes as good, and I be looking for sugar free shit everywhere I go, we would do that. Not everyone has to watch their calorie intake. It depends on what part of the planet your ancestors are from. Cultures who never had to starve tend to have a higher metabolism. others cultures had who lived through thousands of years of famine's needed those calories. Those prooportions have changed in modern ages as food was more readily available. The people's biology is not changing at the same rate.
The only thing I disagreed with Ricky on is that when a fat girl does lose weight, more often than not they look amazing. It's not just the looks but the confidence they then have and happiness you can see is also attractive.

It's always a choice. You don't see fat people during a famine. My dad and many family members have thyroid issues the ones that move about and are always on the go are quite slim the ones who don't are bigger.

Sorry, but thyroid problems are not an excuse. If your body is burning calories at a slower rate then you don't need to eat as much. It's the same as someone who was active and then ends up in a wheelchair. If they're not using up calories as fast as they were they don't need to take on so many calories. I started getting over weight when I hit 45 so I stopped eating so much. It's that simple.
