Siegfried is arguably one of the best fighting game characters. I love how his story, and how much his character develops from a somewhat arrogant teenager, to a very strong, and honorable adult.

I always found it cool to play as Nightmare as Siegfried‘s costume in Soul Calibur II. It makes it seem more like Siegfried when I choose the Japanese voice on the options menu.
I like to take off the top half of Nightmare’s armor in SC6, the mix of Nightmare and Siegfried is so badass

I'm a fan of Soul Calibur, more so the gameplay. Didn't pay that much attention to the story growing up but this was pretty cool.

Siegfried happened to become my favourite character really quickly when I first was introduced to SoulCalibur, before I even tried to learn about him. I didn't even know he was the main character haha. Nor that I would get so good at his moveset. He's my main through and through now. Also Siegfried is also one of my favourite characters in gaming. :D Hope he gets a movie someday. He deserves one.
Seigfried/Nightmare reminds me of Anakin/Darth Vader
Which would make Inferno Emperor Palpatine, since they manipulate them into doing dark & scary stuff.
While Sophitia is Padme, despite how we ship her with Siegfried, which is better than with her husband & father to her children. And if Siegfried did end up with her. He would have been Pyrrha & Patroklos’s father instead of Rothion.

Mr.brandon rod you forget the story of darth tragedious the wise(YTP REFERENCE LOVE IT).
The main reason why I love Siegfried is his backstory. Is so damn tragic and interesting, and this made him interesting as a character as well (talking about his personality). What I adore is seeing him reach matureness and turn into an adult; how he accepted the weight of being the killer of his father and deciding to search for redemption instead of searching for pity from the others.
That and the fact that he's hot as the sun in july... But that's my problem. xD
I don't think he ever searched for pity. He more just kept bargaining to bring back someone who was dead rather than accept it that's what caused nightmare
I mean, Siegfried killed his own father, turned into a monster by holding Soul Blade, then now has to fight that monster when he was split away from that monster.
@@last-shinobi-of-the-oboro-clan I did mention he killed his father, but in the end he killed off the iteration of Nightmare that he caused. His story came to a close. And he could find peace.
All by his own means too.
Among many other characters in the game, I think Raphael also had a tragic story and I hope he will be saved one day. Many people see him as an already evil character, he was supposed to be a cold aristocrat before the start of the story but it wasn't that evil to be cold and working for his family's prestige.
He was accused of killing a man but that man tried to kill him so Raphael had to defend himself and killed him in self defense so he was somehow innocent. His own family then turned on him and he had to flee. Then after having taken Amy as a gratitude gesture for her help, he somehow acquired a mansion under 'dark pretense' (probably meaning murdering the previous owner but he was a wanted criminal so he didn't have much choice to act badly now and his goal was mostly his foster daughter's well being but yeah, it could be considered evil depending on the dark pretense meaning). Then maybe unwillingly but not absolutely unwilling, he saved Siegfried, which is a very important act, then became malfested. I'm kind of sad they never expanded that part with Siegfried. Siegfried somehow could try to help him and try to de-malfest him, after all Raphael saved him... Siegfried meets him for a fight in SCIII (non canon I think) and then it's done.
The story says he and Amy had to flee their home when people noticed their paleness and the fact they now lived at night, even now being malfested, he didn't seem to have started the problems there (even if somehow becoming vampire, there was no mention of some misterious murders or whatever around him). He seemed more like a reactive guy who will make you pay dearly if you annoy him but who stays quietly at home when not bothered.
But since he was now malfested and had a grudge against humanity who chased him and his daughter away, he started transforming people in Walachia, now acting evilly but it was now his malfestation making him do that and driving him crazier. Then something happened between SCIV and SCV and he fell even deeper into darkness by becoming the new Nightmare. Since Siegfried got out of this, I would like for Raphael to do so as well but I just don't have the feeling he will (assuming Namco continues the franchise).

Nice one HMK. I didnt consider Siegfried to be my favorite character (in fact, Maxi's my favorite), but I always enjoyed Siegfried's story throughout the games. The Soul Calibur games I played were 1, 2, 4, & 5, and I always liked to read the biographies of the characters in those games (except 5, which lacked bios), especially Siegfried's because it let me learn how Nightmare came to be and the internal struggle between those two in Soul Calibur 2.

Nightmare= Venom

when I first saw Siegfried I was on sc3 and I thought he was link after a decade, because I remember him from the sc2 game, I never even dream he was nightmare when I played sc1, is nice to finally get a resume of his whole history.

Siegfried is not only my most favourite Soul Calibur character, he is one of my most favourite video game characters HANDS DOWN! After all, I always prefer him more than Patroklos and Pyhhra.
That's the spirit because Patroklos and Pyhhra are another of Nightmare's servants as is Elysium also Darth Vader his student and Haihachi Mishima.
Of course! Siegfried has been my main since Soul Edge! Speaking of Patroklos and Pyrrha, I was okay with Pyrrha. Patroklos however makes me both laugh and cringe. #IfSiegfrieddiesweriot!
But they murder people so I have a pretend of wanted posters as putting prices on their heads. 50 million Gold each sibling.

It all began with Soul Blade/Soul Edge (1996) when I played this game (I still play the game) when Siegfried turned into Nightmare it used to freak me out. I am glad he is out of Nightmare's control

Yeah Siegfried did started this mess. You think Raphael break him free but in my POV it was Link guest character in the Gamecube version of the 2nd one. Also every villain is trying to kill him so he'll be Nightmare again Zasalamel, Setsuka, Tira, Amy, Darth Vader, both of Sophitia's offspring etc.
But he will not allow himself to be defeated yet until he atoned for his sins and move on. So to me Siegfried is the Deadly Blossom.

I once red a fanfic crossover with an Anime called Shiki. It follows this boy, who’s a descendant to Siegfried & Ivy Valentine. He arrives in this village in Japan, because he was told that Inferno broke free from his tomb in Hell, just to finished what he started 400 years ago(despite taking place in 1994), but needs a new vessel to become Nightmare. Little did the boy know, that not only he has to deal with Soul Edge. But a family of Vampires, that moved into the village to make it their colony. Later, this one boy, who has been unloved by his family since his mother died. After he died & came back as a Vampire. He makes a deal with Inferno, not only to get revenge on his family. But a guy who he seriously hates for taking away his friends, & a chance to be with a girl, who he keeps getting rejected by, for being a total creep/stalker to her since childhood. This would drive the boy into insanity, which corrupts him into Nightmare. By the time the village finds out there are Vampires, that are behind almost all the deaths of their loved ones & friends. Nightmare along his dark followers unleashed themselves. To commit Mass-Genocide on both Humans & Vampires. Around that time, the new Nightmare pays his father an unexpected visit. To the point where he kills him for not loving him so hard, since the birth of his nephew. Which was similar to how Siegfried accidentally killed his father, before ending up as Nightmare. Those of y’all who know what Shiki is? You should check this one out. It’s way better than the Anime itself.

The Soul series used to be one of the most respected fighting game series to date until the new developers released the revolting pile of vomit known as Soul Calibur V, which revolved around two sorry excuses of main characters who did nothing but whine, cry, and kill innocent people thanks to their biddings i.e. Tira = Pyrrha Nightmare and Elysium = Patroklos. Not only that, they were also extremely annoying as well. Worst protagonist and deuteragonist ever. And don't get me started on the free to play releases as well (Lost Swords and Unbreakable Soul). :P

Of course and they all tried to kill Siegfried. And for him Patroklos is not the good chose to land Soul Calibur to be he murdered too many people same goes with Pyrrha.
I mean both Sophitia's kids were born with evil energy due to Soul Edge piece embodys into her right. so the energy of those 2 sword could have canceled each other out. That makes Siegfried still protagonist even in Soul Calibur 5 and Nightmare still being main Antagonist. So what do you think?

-Griffith and Siegfried are pretty boys
-Nightmare is like the Femto and Black Swordsman personas of Griffith and Guts
-Like Guts, Siegfried turns away from his alternate persona and resolves to fulfill a more noble purpose
I played the very first Soul Calibur game called Soul Edge on the original Playstation long before the Soul Calibur games came out. It's the by far the best fighting game on the PS1, even better than Tekken 3. And Siegfried's still a badass in that game too.
Siegfried was one of the best in the games, though Li Long, Kilik and even Lizardman were all epic.

Siegfried was just batshit insane imo, not that profound. He killed own his father accidentally then invented a bs story about someone else(?) killing him and went on a vengeance trip. and somehow soul calibur was relevant to this quest and he let himself be consumed by it, becoming a mass murdering soul consumer in trade of one soul back. then, in his come-back era he became something arguably even worse that covers the entire world in crystals if he wins the game. he is one of the least deserving of pity among all major villains.

Dead yes but since then she suffered the same fate as Siegfried becoming Elysium.
But thanks to her son it's possible she broke free and was resurrected and properly they became 2 different people as Siegfried and Nightmare did. See Siegfried and Sophitia have some connection as when their in a blood stained pool of evil using Soul Edge their bodies were messed up.
But Siegfried's Soul Calibur is Elysium but his is different spirit of Soul Calibur in the form of Blossom of the Powerpuff Girls except adult that she's in Grim Tales.

5th one has nice gameplay, as I remember, but everything before it had loads more content, a more respectable roster, and, personally, I think they all looked way cooler back then too.
