  • Bill shows you how to install a Classic Tube 3/8" Original Steel Fuel Tank to Fuel Pump Line on your 1965-1966 Mustang with a V8 Engine.

The next step in our Forgotten Fastback project car is to install the Fuel Line, which will go from the tank to the pump mounts. This 3/8-inch line is originally found on the Shelby models, and will help when we plan on adding some decent horsepower to the Fastback.
To begin this installation on your 1965-1966 Mustang with a V8 Engine, remove the driver's side tire to allow for more room and then locate the route your Fuel Line will take on the underside of your Mustang. Install the grommet, begin straightening out your Fuel Line, and secure the one end to the grommet. Follow Bill's step-by-step instructions in the video to learn how to secure and straighten your entire Fuel Line.
We've also decided to install a Brake Line in the Mustang, since it shares many of the same mounting points with the Fuel Line. To run the break line, make sure the end with the 90-degrees is facing the master cylinder. Follow the instructions in the video to learn how to properly run this Line and finish up your installation of the Fuel Line.

The videos are one reason I choose to purchase from CJ Pony. Their prices are in line with all other vendors, but they go out of their way to make the tutorials. Thank you!

Fantastic...so glad you have these. My son and I are fixing up a 66 and we have never been mechanical and these videos make us realize it is not so hard if you take your time and have patience. Love love love these videos.

I would agree with you it's not the best routing but that is how the lines were made since that's how Ford did it originally. In 1967 they moved the fuel lines to the rocker so they no longer pass under the rail.

It's kinda fun to look back at this video and realize that the poor shell of a car they're working on would eventually become Project 50Thirty.

I think Fords 'light bulb' was out when they 'designed' a rubber hose (that breaks down over time) as a connection between the sending unit and the fuel line. Every few years I have to replace mine and it's a job that I 'never' look forward to; especially when the gas tank is full. :(

How different is this install on a 68' coupe? I would love to see a video of a full break line install on a 68' mustang.

Is it just me or wouldn't it be safer if the fuel line was ran through the rail or inside the bay rather than the outside of the rail and running it under the rail?

I agree with you, who cares about 'originally', I'd take safety over it any day
