I’ve been taken aback by how beyond belief awful the umpires have been to start the season. It’s about as bad as it’s ever been. Doesn’t seem like they’ve gotten a single call correct. Legitimately needs to be looked at. They seemed to be getting better the last few seasons but it’s been insanely bad to start the year and it’s only week two
i've been feeling the same, but part of me wonders if i'm just way more hyper-aware of it now that the on-screen strike zone and pitch location indicators keep getting more accurate. when i go back and watch footage from the 90s and 00s before the on-screen zone, a lot of those zones look pretty massive and funky too. but i think i just took the umpire's word for it more back then, nowadays when we "know" the call was wrong, it feels more frustrating. idk, it might be a little column A, a little column B.
