    Locktite foam would have saved all that foil, and you can spray it with water, wait 5 minutes and shape with your fingers. Then you can spray paint.

      Oh believe me, I know my way around a can of spray foam. That's not the look I wanted here though and through the years it will need far more touch up work then this technique. On top of that I have some birds that love to come peck at my spray foam props so I avoid it when I can. Thanks for the watch and the comment.

    Not only is your pumpkin monster so beautifully done, your video gave me multiple ideas to incorporate into various applications. Most unexpected is the simplicity of the plastic drop background. I plan on using large black plastic for some simple outdoor walls/area dividers. What I did last year was use Gorilla Glue duct tape to attach the large plastic to some of the taller fiberglass rebar pounded into the ground. It makes it a mess to try to take down, and the tape can make much of the plastic not reusable. Funny thing is, I planned on picking up some more of those fiberglass rebars on the way home from work today. Now I will pick up some clothesline as well. Clipping the plastic to the clothesline should make it easier and much quicker to set up, and take down.This should also allow me to just get the rebars in place in early Oct., but wait till the 29th or 30th of Oct to attach the plastic "walls", so I don't have to fret so much over potential bad weather (wind) taking down what took some effort to put up!
    There is a wealth of good info in this vid. It also started sparking more ideas in my brain. For one, I love the two-sided aspect of the jacko head. Being able to change its face from more or less menacing is a great idea. Also makes me think it would be cool to add a motor to make it possible to switch from one face to the other. It would certainly add some complication to the prop build overall, but I don't see it as impossible by any means. Another idea to add to the pile of things I must eventually make - lol
    Kudos, and thanks for sharing your build.

      Thank you so much! I'm just a amateur goofing around in my basement but and so happy you enjoyed it and love that you found some unintentional ideas in it too! I really dig the idea of a 2 faced jack o lantern. It never even crossed my mind as I literally had 2 faces carved in everyone of them for a period of time 😂. And motorized you say??? My friend you just raised the bar! I freaking love that idea! There would have to be a dividing wall inside his head so you couldn't see the other face through the front and then you could have two different color lights in there as well. A yellow on the happy side and red or green on the more menacing side! This is totally doable. Thank you for the idea. Halloween people really are the best!

    • @didjbusker
      @didjbusker Před 11 měsíci

      @@mayhemonmidlake7681 Yes, a dividing wall inside was what I was thinking. Even with different color lights for each side, you could still maybe add to that effect with the divider itself being colored differently on each side. I haven't incorporated any motors into any of my builds yet, but I imagine this effect would best be served by a motor that could very quickly turn the head exactly 180 degrees. At least a 1 second or less switch from happy face to a menacing red-lit face would certainly have a more powerful effect than a continually turning head at a slow or moderate steady pace. Of course, the effect would be even more powerful if you could rig up short music or sound effects that got seamlessly and immediately triggered just as fast as the quick 180 head turn. Keep creating! I look forward to all that you come up with.

      Thank you and you're most welcome. I'm just a amateur goofing off in my basement but I'm so happy you got some good information out of it. I've seen some of those pumpkin guys your talking about and the price is def high but they are on a whole different level. The ones I've seen are nothing short of art sculptures. I definitely pulled inspiration from those but for my needs and budget I had to go a different direction. I would never stick one of those other ones out in my yard for a month, it would be on my mantle! These guys are meant to be rough and tumble foot soldiers.

    The first set of 4 go you have a video on how you did the pumpkin heads?

    • @mayhemonmidlake7681
      @mayhemonmidlake7681  Před 11 měsíci

      I don't have a tutorial on the heads unfortunately but I can explain rather easily. After picking out and carving the face I wanted into it. I took paper clay and built up the features I wanted to stand out more like the teeth and eye sockets. The paper clay recipe was from another you tube channel called draconfang and it was the 5 part video where he made a giant paper mache pumpkin. After that I finished it just like I did in this video.
      Hope this helped.

    • @HollywoodColt
      @HollywoodColt Před 11 měsíci

      @mayhemonmidlake7681 so the actual pumpkins are the store bought carvable ones? I was thinking about doing that to to make them better. Check out a paper clay called "celluclay". It's a ready to mix one you can buy from a craft store. It's pretty good and easy to use.

    • @mayhemonmidlake7681
      @mayhemonmidlake7681  Před 11 měsíci

      They were given to me by a friend but they were store bought foam ones that had faces. I covered the factory made faces and carved my own on the backside.

    • @mayhemonmidlake7681

      So the pumpkin heads were a donation from a fellow home haunter that was moving and downsizing. He gave me about 60 of these on stanchions that he used to light the path through his haunt. I wanted creepy faces though so I covered the traditional faces and went with something more my style.

    • @mayhemonmidlake7681
      @mayhemonmidlake7681  Před 11 měsíci

      So the ones I made for my haunt will just be slid over a piece of rebar that's pounded into the ground and tied off to the fence. The one in this particular video has legs which have him steady on flat ground but there is also a pvc cross at the base of his spine. His legs go out left and right but the bottom of the cross is open and I cut a small hole in his overalls so a rebar stake can be slid right up his *ahem you known what. That will have him solid out in the most all weather.
