High DPS Kusarigama guide. My Best Kusarigama Build for Nioh

- Today what I want to show you is my high DPS Kusarigama guide, which is the best Kusarigama build I have made for Nioh. In this guide I will show you Kusarigama stats, leveling stats, and the skills and items needed to make this build crush yokai like glass.
For my best kusarigama build for Nioh, I tried to maximize all the dps I could from many different sources. I am using two sets with the Yasakani Magatama, the Kingo crossed sickle set and the Warrior of the west set. Both of these sets give you a very large damage increase by close combat damage stats, the kingo's armor set gives you a damage from behind bonus and a killing blow bonus as well.
For the Guardian I am using by far the best spirit guardian in the game Tengen Kojaku. I will leave some stats from one of my previous videos showing you how I determined the strength of this spirit in the bottom of the description.
I am using a +10 divine Kusarigama with a change to attack a+ in dexterity. I may not have the best kusarigama out there, but the rolls I have help make this build shine. If you want to have a high dps Kusarigama build the rolls on my weapons would be good to shoot for.
I am using many buffs to help increase the damage output while keeping enemies at bay. I am using the Power pill, carnage talisman, extraction talisman, steel talisman, tiger running scrolls, blinding shells, and sloth talismans.

Today I wanted to test Tengen Kujaku, who in my opinion is the best guardian spirit in Nioh. What makes Tengen Kujaku the best guardian spirit in Nioh? Stats! For general increases to attack power, defense, and ki regeneration, Tengen Kujaku delivers more than any other guardian.
The reason this is so much better than other guardians is because of a certain passive stat in this spirit guardians arsenal. Bonus from amrita absorption basically gives you a buff depending on the stance you are in while receiving amrita.
High stance - Attack buff (in my tests it was around 60%)
Mid stance - Defense buff
Low stance - Ki Regeneration Buff (similar to sacred water)
These buffs alone can beat out some of the most offensive, defensive, and ki based guardians you can choose, but together they make Tengen Kujaku in a league of his own.
When paired with the carnage talisman the attack buff stacks to be over a 200% attack power increase! This is an absolutely absurd amount, and makes this spirit guardian easily the best in Nioh outside of infinite living weapon builds.

To all the people asking how he got attack on all his armor, whatever gloves that have the symbol for passing traits through soul matching you want to raise familiarity of 5 pairs of divine gloves (with the passable attack trait) and soul match them onto the armor for your build.

I'm level 125, I was stuck in the Return of the Gourd mission, so I watched a video about it and the guy literally just 2-shot everything with a katana. I wanted to do the same with a Kusarigama, but 260 is a bit high to aim for atm lol
If you want to be fancy, switch to a sword weapon after you foot sweep, use a Iai attack on the downed enemy, THEN final blow him. If you time it well and don't screw up the inputs (they can be very tricky) you get both attacks on the downed enemy. If you get good enough at the swap you can put your final blow damage mods on the sword and free up space on the kusarigama
Obviously at level 260, you will have a pretty solid damage, especially with a lvl99 in both dex and skill lol... But thanks anyway...

Soul matching the attack inherited bonus on all armor is such a great idea, why the hell didn't I think of it before! It's going to cost me a lot to do it but the payoff will be well worth it I'm sure.
I use the Sayoarashi kusarigama:
SPECIAL EFFECTS

- Wind Damage (WEAPON) + 49.1%
- Ninjutsu Damage Bonus A
- STATUS AILMENT AUGMENTATION + 15.1%
- FINAL BLOW DAMAGE + 17.3%
But I like to roll as a wind ninja with parts of the Iga Jonin set.
you cant roll skill damage because you have close combat damage already (they're in the same stat group and are mutually exclusive--oddly final blow damage isn't in the attack/damage group for some reason), you basically have to choose between close combat, skill, grapple, or familiarity damage bonus.
you can roll agility damage bonus on your ranged weapon (which you're already taking advantage of in a way), but it and enemies defeated bonus damage are on the same skill group as well, so you've gotta choose between tehm

I commented on last video and now I do see, wow! To even get to this point will take easily 100 plus hours. For serious gamers who can't put Nioh down lol! I keep looking for beginner guides and keep finding these pro videos with hours and hours of leveling. I can't wait to get to this point but I know I just want to beat the game once and know I won't be no where near this level. At this leveling and power you become like a game god and cut through everyone so easily! I never have played a new game plus mode. Guess I'm old school, I don't know. I put in over 50 hours and barely am in the game at all!
Is hard for me to understanding how to match all the things to have the best build, but this video helped me a lot
Change to attack (skill) is way better - Only due to it getting to A+ while you still have Dexterity at B+
It's not much damage you're gonna get, but it'll definitely help when you have both maxed
If you're lower level and can't max both, then but a 70 dex and 99 skill.
Btw, only primary bows/rifles/cannons passives count, not the secondary - as far as what I've experienced. Tried stacking fire damage bonus on cannons and it didn't work, unfortunately
Tried the change to Attack skill in place of dex and it didn't increase my damage at all. Anything different you are using that could have increased it? Also I agree with the Ranged weapon comment, that is what I was trying to say but I might not have explained it well though. That is why I said that I use the matchlock for amrita farming and the bow the rest of the time.

i think the change to attack doesn't "change" the b+ to a+.. i think it doubles up.. so you get both... because if not.. then a "change to attack (skill) A+" would be better cause the default skill is a rank lower.. so the difference would be greater...
mmm how can you have 4 piceesof kingos and warrior of the west and have 5 picees bonus?

Yousef Abu-Khadija way of the demon drops +10 , attack on all gear except the gloves HAS to be crafted.

What are spears?! Haha, haven't found anything promising for spears yet but I will be on the lookout. If I find a build that kicks ass with a spear you can be sure I will make a video.
Yeah I agree I think spears are great lol they were my secondary weapon the whole game (I used mainly sword) but it's just a shame how they don't have super op build like some of the other weapons do :/ (well not yet hopefully lol)
tracerbeast swords imo have the best hit. the hit were it pulls from your sword holder and knocks them back
Legendary Mikawa set or Fanatics set work really well with spear :) should try it out!
Roll the "Change to attack" to Body. Then put 99 in body, 99 in Dex. That gives you a ton of life, and increases the damage from D+ to A+ instead of B+ to A+. MUCH more dps.
I will have to check that out, I have change to attack body gear I can reroll to other weapons. I did try this with skill considering that it would take a C+ to an A+ but it made no difference to attack damage from re-rolling from Dexterity.
You should try to get a raven rifle for more protection. Non crit builds can be very squishy.
Surprisingly, this build can take shots very well. Crit builds are insane though.

From the two main attributes you leveled to 99, which is the one you focus on first?
Do you level them both at the same time, or do you level one to 99 and then the other?
First get your spirt to 10, than level your weapon with a mix of magic

How did you get change attack dex A+ I've reforged countless times and have only seen B- and that's with 999 weapon familiarity.
I got back into Nioh in preperation for Sekiro. I played this build and loved it. Is this build still viable in 1.21??
Did they nerf this? I'm way higher lvl, my gear is higher lvl, and my rolls are about the same and I'm doing nowhere near your dmg :(
I have exactly the same Armor and weapon built, my only difference is that close combat and final blow damage stats on the weapon are much higher
So when do you put your stat points where? Did you balance dex and skill and do others as need or did you focus one then the other, etc? I know what stats I want to raise not sure when to raise them. I mean the primary stat obviously you want to prioritize but like for body and heart do you just save those until later?
hi dude. thanx fr these. was wondering you can do a STEP BY STEP vid on how to increase your attack,, weaken enemy and keep my special weapon (i think you call it the living weapon) active through out. just a suggestion. keep up the vids cuz .
Very similar to my build but i used dual katana spining build.. stack lightning .... and it destroy most of boss in 2 spins...
So far i am running odachi build with Warrior to the west a d tech build for close combat damage... and it does around 22k to final.blow.. most of yokai boss it does around 13 to 17k per slash..damge also increase if enemy is electrified as well

Great build and video! I'm surprised you use steel talisman and not devigorate based on your onmyo magic testing video. Also, would you put points to stats to wear Kingo's early game or do you wear light armor like Iga's until you can get divine gear?
Even though the steel talisman only gives you a 6% damage reduction it cancels out the carnage defense debuff completely, so it is terrible on its own but very powerful when used with carnage. I tested this after the video was made and put it on the comments. Kingos is still very good lower level, I would hold off on upgrading though. Save your materials and gold until you are getting divine drops.

1) i'm playing Dual sword & Sword, if i go and up some skill of Kusarigama, but i'm not using Kusarigama, is the skill of kusarigama that i up will affect my character ? (because i saw many videos, some of the points they up are not the weapon they are using)
2) Any suggestion about (sword + dual sword) and (dual sword + Kusarigama) build ?

skill damage and CCB damage conflict with each other so can't have both IDK if you knew js but skill damage is hard to get it is easier getting a 21 % than close combat damage

Hey tracerbeast theres one more thing I wanted to ask you how do you get the water element on weapons?
I reforged it. It can be hard to get elemental damage rolls but if you use divine fragments to forge it gets easier.

This game gets hard as shit. I'm like level 67 around the region where you fight Yuki-onna and I swear I die in like two to three hits, if even that. Like goddamn. I can't ever tell if it's just because I'm terrible at the game or if it just gets that difficult.

How did you roll attack from your gloves onto each piece of Armor?
If you talk with the blacksmith she'll explain inheritable effects. Some effects on gear have an icon next to them that looks like two white boxes. That means that if you max out the familiarity on that piece of gear then you can transfer that inheritable effect over to another piece of gear. You can do that through soul matching at the blacksmith. You put the final piece of gear that you want to upgrade as the base, and then put the piece of gear with the special effect and maxed familiarity in the material slot. Once you confirm it it'll sacrifice that material gear to transfer that effect over to the base gear. If the base gear already has an inheritable effect then it'll be overwritten by the new one. Armor doesn't get inheritable effects until you beat the game and unlock the Divine tier of armor though so if you haven't gotten that far then I wouldn't worry about it

Never run your weapons without change to attack in the weapons stat and familiarity damage
where where can I farm change the dexterity I have yet to find one and I'm now level 230
how do you get Change to attack for your weapons?
Can revenants drop Divines before I get to NG+?
When I try to Re-forge my gloves to Attack stat it says "Special effects with (arrow) cannot be re-forged"
Make sure you have the familiarity all the way up on the gloves you are trying to transfer the attack damage from.
What costume did you use?
I just cleared the second area. I been farming gold, to better some weapons. The weapons I have have elemental attributes. They are expensive to soul match.
Is that worth it early in the game?
I unlock the ability of forging the effect of the weapon. The one that I like instead of the random ones. But I don't know how to use it .😂

As long as you reach the cut-scene it counts as a kill, so If you are going for the flawless kill as long as you don't get hit and reach the cut scene the title should unlock.
Level 260 isn't that hi? I am approaching the end of my first playthrough and level 96. I'd expect your guy to do insane damage at that level.
magicbrit not sure about the rest but I hit 'peak' performance at lvl 120 to 130. For my katana build, i was hitting 3k per hit from the back.
I'm on the 4th Region, first playthrough exclusively using an Axe. Currently I'm level 100, been grinding hella hard.

Once you unlock the Oni region on NG+ you can level very fast. If I wanted to (but I don't want to...... because of all the boredom) I can level up 40-50 levels an hour by using Infinite living weapon amrita farming builds. Most of my levels have come from natural progression, the only time I really speed level is when I want to test something and don't want to use a book of reincarnation.

Love this game I'm @ 750 lvl but I've farm so much I'm @ 88% of almost completing the whole game and dominating it but im still building and struggling , now I just started the abyss end game grind 🤦♂️ hope you ready but I'm determined its to much fun to not play .

I have been using something similar to this build around lvl 110 or so. It has been progressing and getting better, like when I realized Jerry (tengen) was one of the best guardians to use, and finding good stats for gear peices. As long as you have access to the gear and skills you can still put down some really good damage, and all you need to do is build on it. Hope it helps, Oni region can be a bitch.

How do you get the Change to Attack (...) onto the transferable skill. Did you craft a specific weapon or just crafted random weapons until it popped up?

I don't understand this community. Is there no meta level? Early game is level 80 to 150...i come from soulsborne game an 150 is usually MAX level of your going for new game plus. 120 os standard for PvP. But levelling takes forever...level 260 probably took a crazy amount of doing the same levels over and over.
Do you have videos of how to farm specific armors?
Your best bet is to farm revenants because they drop all the gear peices I am using on this video very frequently. Try the battle of ohashi bridge because there are tons of them. I have a guide I put up a few days ago about getting to +10 quickly if that will help you, but revenants will be your best bet to get base armor sets.

Just watched this a minute ago, and yes they look very similar. To be honest though he made a better suggestion on set peices than I did lol. Plus he is going for a back stab sword build, and my build is based on standard attacks and skills in any direction.

Kusarigama is trash, attack animation takes too long to startup and the range is incredible low. Of course its gonna do alot of damage by maxing out smh. Its a crappy start weapon
