- Many stories and articles have been written over the last 15-20 years about the opioid epidemic and oxycontin. Many times oxycontin and other opioid pain meds are compared to heroin but are they really that similar?
People say oxy is hillybilly heroin or synthetic heroin is it?
In my experience and I have done both heroin and oxy hundreds of times each, they are almost the exact same thing.
The main difference I noticed is with oxy it's a consistent high because you know exactly what you are getting. Every oxy 80 is the same around the world. Yes there are generic meds and sometimes different companies make them but they all have rules and regulations the government makes them follow.
Heroin is from dealers and cartels. One batch might be great and 2 hours later it sucks. It's not as consistent. That was the biggest difference.
As far as the overall effect, if you take out the cut and the filler of each they are the same thing from the same plant and hit the same receptors in the brain.

I got hooked on OXY due to a major operation on my spine. I used it for 6 months after 3 month hospital stay for my spinal surgery.
I went cold turkey and it lasted for a full 14 days. Always how long heroin withdrawal took?

oxycodon was made to be less histamine relese and more dopamine so morphine side effects will be less :itching swalling and nausa .
Oh wow didn't realize how similar they are. I've been craving oxys like a mofo 4 days since I took 20mg still have 40mg should I just do that and quit after I get nauseous af right?

How are they diiferent IV? Oxy is clean and uncut. H, who knows whats in it. Im sure uncut H is the most euphoric. Both i imagine would be stinulating at equal dose.
One time I tried roxicodone 10 years ago and passed out then puked the next morning. Was not fun at all

Omg the nursing home story 😅 You know what I've always wondered? People always seem to say, they "don't even get high from heroin anymore", they just do it "to get well". Is that really true? If so, how long does it take someone to not get high anymore? Everybody still seems to be nodding out (that's when you're really high, right?), so I'm just a confused about that. Hopefully you get what I'm trying to say, English is not my mother tongue 😅 P.S. The mic is great!
Thank Eva!!! yea the nursing home story was and is crazy yea so its kinda both after a while of doing heroin or any opioid the person needs to do some everyday or else they are sick many heroin addicts will say i need my 2 bags in the morning to not get sick they say "it doesn't get me high it gets me well" just like u said and that try usually when the tolerance is that high the first few bags just get the addict normal but don't mistake it the addict is still trying to get high and they still can and will it just takes them more for me it was like the first high of the day which was 3-4 bags usually got me out of withdrawal and feeling "well" maybe a little buzz depending on how good the dope was then a few hours later if i scored more that was the "high" hope that makes sense kinda like a real bad alcoholic might need a beer for breakfast to get rid of the shakes that beer doesn't get them drunk it just gets them normal then later that night the alcoholic has 20 beers and that still gets them drunk

Geoff i've heard that from others as well. I never did kratom so idk i mean it makes sense it hit the same receptors as opioids so it would have a similar effect.

For me those were the 80's and that was in the earlier days of my addiction. unfortunately towards the end, I needed 3-4 '80s to get normal and 5-6 to get high

I did both ..heroin in europe and Oxycodone in usa.
There is no question..heroin is much more intense and euphoria is much more strong
Oxycodone is mu agonist but also a moderate k agonist
Heroin is a pure mu agonist and a weak d agonist

It's just like sativa vs indica (oxy being the sativa and h being the indica) same core thing but one is a little more upper and one a little more down. Out of everything opium (smoked or seed tea) is the closest to heroin almost identical peak.
