  • These are my out-of-the-box impressions of the Virpil Control Panel 2. Virpil makes a variety of high-quality sim flight simulation gear and this is my first toe dip into the Virpil ecosystem. Is the Virpil Control Panel everthing I thought it was going to be? Will it replace my Winwing F18 Flight Panels? Make sure you check back soon for the full Virpil Control Panel 2 review and to find out how I get on setting it up and how it fits into the daily flyer.

I have the entire lineup aside from the cyclic + cyclic throttle. They are amazing products...the software is a bit challenging to learn, but once you've got it down it's not an issue.

Yea. I'm going through the software trying to get my head around it right now. The product is quite something though. Very happy so far with the purchase.

Have panels 1, 2, CM3 throttle, WarBRD base (TM F/A-18 stick), and Ace Collection pedals with zero regrets. Virpil’s build quality along with their software capabilities create a unlimited amount of pragmatic possibilities for multi module flying in DCS.
Assuming you’re not a stickler for replicas willing and wanting to get more throttle, the CM3 is the clear first buy suggestion. I use the full throw range as a heli collective; Warthog idle stop detent, no AB detent; and full jet idle stop detent + AB detent - and I can switch between them trivially while playing on the same MP server.
My recommendation for all of their panels and the CM3 in DCS is don’t use shift states except for axes range mappings. My only shift state is one switch is for fixed wing (limits throttle 0-100 range to after idle-stop detent) and another for heli (uses full range). This is a T switch on the CM3. Everything else is just a button so the two “T” switches on the panels are modifiers so I have 3x the rest of the buttons. The CM3 has the mode dial so I have 5x the buttons. No B.S. I could map entire cockpits but I’m happier with organically mapping things by feel so I can remember them better and ignoring what I actually don’t use.

Proud CM3 Throttle owner. Never could maintain contact with my FCS 16000 when I was midair refueling. Did it immediately when I gave it go with the Virpil. Stuck contact and didn't disconnect until my tanks were full. Next stop is a Constellation Alpha and the rudder pedals.

I have the throttle and panel1 along with the left/right Alpha sticks. I love them. The software is a learning curve but the complexity is worth it as once you learn the options, the software does quite a bit. On panel 2 I dont care for the white knob on the landing gear control. I wish they mimic'ed the flap slider on the throttle unit. Otherwise I love Virpil

Not because it's not good, in fact its smoothness is impressive, it's just that I've been using the the Real Simulator R3L and side grip instead. Planning to buy the Virpil Constellation Alpha Prime to use as WSO hand controllers when the F-15E comes to DCS.

Just found your channel and subscribed straight away due to the production quality. Hoping you'll make some lengthy content in the future.
Question - do you know if Virpil use buttons and switches which are readily available? It'd be great to add extra controls on an additional panel for use with different aircraft types without building an aircraft specific sim-pit.
    Keep those videos coming.

Hello mate. Thanks for your kind comments. Yea the main toggle twitches seem to be if a standard type however the square clear plastic state switches that glow, I’ve never seen them before in any type of electrical shop.

  • @Warkip

I have been using my CM3 throttle and warbrd base for a while now and love nearly everything about them, and they have excelend software that you use once to set up, and then dont need to run in the background after that. Only thing I do not like about them both, is that some of the hats (especially the left one T50CM2 stick) are really tricky to be pushed in consistently in the way you want, and would have liked them to be slotted so you would not have that problem.

    • @g-locmedia
      @g-locmedia  Před rokem +1

What I’ve seen so far the quality is unmatched to anything I’ve ever used. I can only imaging what the throttle and stick are like. Only got it set up on the rig yesterday so putting it through its paces now.

My setup I have triple 1440p 32 inch gigabyte but wish I’d gone bigger. You have a crazy powerful PC. If I had a pc like that I’d be thinking about triple 4K. If your only on flight sim I’d be thinking about triple 4k tvs around the 50” size. Triple Ark g9s would be a dream but wow they are expensive. I’ve been on a system that runs triple 4ks and I’ll tell you it’s quite something. It’s was delivering just over 60fps too on flight simulator on Medium-high settings. Also don’t count out VR. You have the PC to handle it. Something like the varjo aero.

@@Aizazell if you’ve got a PC that. An run a high resolution VR Headset Flight Simulator and DCS will be amazing! It’s the depth perception. But you need to spend a fair amount of $$$’s. Only drawback is that you can’t see your controls and you will rely a lot on muscle memory. I would see if you can try a VR setup somewhere first to see if you like it. I can make some people feel sick.

I just purchased a Asus ROG Raptor AXE 16000 6E quad band router. So I'm serious about achieving a high quality of the DCS "simulation experience" that being said I'm not rich just save my money until I was sure it was worth it. The last computer I built was Asus Sabertooth board, with AMD 8350 CPU, Corsair 850 PSU, (2) Asus Radeon 7850 GPUs crossfire's, with 32 Gbs of DDR3 RAM. Just gave that system to my Son, next I am Running, in the new system, Corsair Vengeance DDR-5 6000 MHz C36. Should I push more RAM or is it enough? Is it enough if I decide to go VR?
