      Yes, unexpectedly snowy indeed! Though it doesn't snow here every year anymore, we are still prepared and able to deal with it, but still we had a few days of chaos when we got some half a meter of snow within 24 hours.

    I love your videos so much and this one was no exception! I would love to see you make a video on what wild animals you can see in Yakutia during winter (or any other time of the year) and how they survive this climate - it seems like even your dog was fine! Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from California ❤️

    I live in East Texas and right now we are experiencing the worst ice storm on record. Tonight it’s supposed to get as low as 1°F. So it’s very unusual for us right now. People are losing electricity, and many people don’t have a fireplace, and we are having to be extra careful to try to prevent pipes from bursting. Most winters we are lucky to even see snow, and if it does snow it usually only lasts for about a day and then it’s gone within 24-48 hours. Freezing temps aren’t unheard of here but if we get freezing temps it’s not very much below freezing and typically happens at night time and only lasts for a few days, if that long, and then it’ll get above freezing during the day. We just got about 6 inches of snow last night. Roads are nearly impossible to travel because we just don’t have the resources to deal with it here because it’s so unusual. Respect to you and the people to live where you do who can survive such extreme conditions. You seem like a kind soul.

      It was -66° with the windchill in the NWT 🇨🇦 the other week. Luckily I was in the warm south of Alberta with a balmy -40°.

    • @JesusFriedChrist
      @JesusFriedChrist Před 3 lety +1

      Colder than -20° is fairly uncomfortable, but everything past -30° just feels the same: brutally painful on your skin. Like a million needles stinging every square inch of exposed skin, and if you stay out for long enough then covered parts of your body start feeling that too. Your face, fingers, and toes get the worst of it, and even if you bundle up it’s only a matter of time before you start getting frostnip and frostbite. The colder it gets, the more dangerous it is, so you really have to be careful and moderate your exposure time outside. Around -50 or so it can take less than a minute to start getting frostbite, so yeah, I guarantee this when this video was made, they were definitely taking breaks to go inside and warm up. The cold sucks, but you adapt and learn how to live in the conditions, just like you do with snow.
