  • St. John's, Newfoundland is a unique and very scenic port with epic views and panoramas. In this walking tour, I film the cruising in and out of the narrows. The walking tour starts in Old Town, walking past the brightly colored wooden buildings, going up Signal Hill to Cabot Tower.

Then, I hike the North Head Trail with epic views of the Labrador Sea and The Narrows. This includes taking the narrow part of the trail with a chain for dear life. Finally, it ends in the walk through the Battery and a walk on Water Street for a seafood dinner and Iceberg Beer. Perfect Day!
As the capital of Newfoundland and Labrador, it’s one of the oldest and most easterly towns in North America. For centuries, St. John’s was the center of the Newfoundland salt cod trade. The blend of English, Irish cultures with Victorian architecture bring a unique atmosphere. It has steep hills and colorful row houses, mostly built after the Great Fire in 1892.
Perhaps, the headlands and entrance to the harbour through the “The Narrows” is the most fascinating thing about St. John’s. This is the passage from the Atlantic Ocean to the harbour, going through steep rock walls on both sides. It’s an iconic water route, referred to as “threading the eye of the needle.” The Narrows also served as an important part of defense for St. John’s. The south side’s Fort Amherst Lighthouse guided vessels into the harbour. The northern side is Signal Hill, with a battery and Cabot Tower, where the first trans-Atlantic wireless signal happened in 1901. Arriving by St. John’s by boat or ship is the best way to discover it!

People in St. John's love to see the cruise ships coming! As a kid, we would hear about a ship coming and sometimes head to the narrows to wave goodbye to the ships as they left. Watching your video made me a little homesick for the colorful houses, beautiful hikes and people "back home"! Thanks for sharing!!

That's fine, can't please everyone! There are plenty of other channels that talk less or play music.
