The Fantom Sports Network made our fifth stop on our Virginia High School Football Playoff Roadtrip at Willis Field in Roanoke, Virginia for the VISAA Division 2 State Championship Game between North Cross and Blue Ridge on Saturday.
The Raiders would welcome the Barons, VISAA’s highest scoring team to Willis Field with open arms and one goal in mind; proving that defense wins championships.
North Cross would do just that, holding the Blue Ridge offense to 0 points while returning an electric offensive showcase of their own. With talent shining bright on both sides of the ball, the North Cross Raiders would run through the VISAA DII State Championship Game with a final score of 35-7.
This historic win marks the first State Championship under first year Raiders Head Coach, Shannon Taylor (North Cross Defensive Coordinator for 13 seasons) and the first ever Back2Back State Football Championship for North Cross.
