Lawrence Wilkerson's last positions in government were as Secretary of State Colin Powell's Chief of Staff (2002-05), Associate Director of the State Department's Policy Planning staff under the directorship of Ambassador Richard N. Haass, and member of that staff responsible for East Asia and the Pacific, political-military and legislative affairs (2001-02).

Before serving at the State Department, Wilkerson served 31 years in the U.S. Army. During that time, he was a member of the faculty of the U.S. Naval War College (1987 to 1989), Special Assistant to General Powell when he was Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff (1989-93), and Director and Deputy Director of the U.S. Marine Corps War College at Quantico, Virginia (1993-97). Wilkerson retired in 1997 and began work as an advisor to General Powell. He has also taught national security affairs at the George Washington University.

I remember that, I forget the date but it was early Obama first term, I think, that there appeared to be a certainty that America would attack Iran at Nethanyahu's goading. Both Russia and China warned America against such an enterprise. China went so far as to say "WW III would be worth it over Iran. America backed off, much to Nethanyahu's disappointment. Physical American participation would certainly invite Russian and Chinese reaction. Also, the Islamic countries of the region would physically react to what they see as an American attack. The situation would not look pretty for America. Certainly not for Israel.

The locals say Iron Dome missiles drop on the Golan Heights most days. They mainly fall on uninhabited areas but sometimes they do a lot of damage & kill people. There are many videos of the vapor trails of these Iron Dome missiles flying around & falling on the hilltops around the village.
Iron Dome missiles are designed to explode the maximum amount of shrapnel, over the widest area possible, to be most effective in bringing down planes & missiles. When they fall on a group of people they cause death to many by shards of shrapnel flying everywhere, but leave no impact crater in the ground - just as happened in this latest incident.
