  • Join me on an exciting journey as I level up my work van with a game-changing addition: a microwave purchased from Walmart. The day begins with eager anticipation as I install the microwave, envisioning the convenience it will bring to my on-the-go lifestyle.
But as I dive into the installation process, my plans are momentarily interrupted by a service call for a 100 horsepower triple pass fire tube steam boiler. The boiler is making concerning noises, and upon inspection, I discover leaking tubes that are causing the boiler to lock out. With swift action, I address the issue, resolving the problem and restoring functionality to the boiler.
As the day progresses, I finally have the chance to put my new work van microwave to the test. With excitement bubbling, I prepare my first meal, reveling in the convenience of having hot food on hand during long workdays. But the testing doesn't stop there-I also take the opportunity to test the Dewalt battery charger connected to the inverter, ensuring that my tools are always powered and ready for action.
Through innovation and problem-solving, I've transformed my work van into a haven of productivity and convenience. Join me on this journey of upgrades and advancements, where every addition brings new possibilities and every challenge is met with determination and skill in the world of HVAC.

I would actually put a rubber or plastic grommet around the sharp edges of the hole you passed the power plugs through.

Yeah should carry a 100' roll of the segmented grommet beats replacing the cord or shorting !

retired trucker here...we have microwaves in our trucks and if you find yourself and old clean pillow that you can stuff in the oven when not in use....it will keep the glass plate in it's proper place and not rattle around while driving

oh hell, a new cheap pillow would do too, but that's a good idea! I was wondering how to go about that.

Just scrolled down to the comments to write this exact thing! Had a micro in an old van and shoved a pillow in it to protect the glass plate. My hack was to shove it in a plastic bag so you can swap the bag out on occasion to keep the food gunk down and off your pillow.

if the inverter is behind your seat, you can just leave the remote where it is and override it while you are driving turning the inverter switch to 1 to have it on and to 2 to have it off but remotely switchable from the remote. If I am not wrong that inverter has a 3 position power switch, 1 for on, 2 for remote and 0 for off. If so I think it should work.

Rubber grommet where you threaded cable through hole and it looks like you blocked the vent holes on microwave?? Are they on the side up against metal??
BTW that "meal" looked disgusting LOL

Is the inverter connected to a 2nd battery, which is another one than the engine starter battery ? If yes, then the best is to have a device between the two batteries which charges the 2nd battery when the engine is running and disconnects it when the engine is not running. This avoids unexpectedly emptying out the engine starter battery.

He’s going to kill the starter battery and alternator. Neither are rated for a 1000 watt load, that’s around 90-100 amps continuous. Most inverters have low voltage protection and shuts off. Imagine the voltage drop when it kicks on😮
