TikTok draft up Contracts for Artist then make up outside rules about not getting paid for views unless your songs are being played by a company or a business. I had 9 million streams & never got dime from them the Contract they presented never stipulated any of these Clauses.

I can not show any information due to privacy [ cant you read ].. that is a excerpt from the contract I had with tik tok. @@MrBait362 I made 9 million views on 1 song & I got paid basically nothing about $50, so when i asked about it they replied saying my song wasn't played by a Business or any Company like Nike ect so i wasn't getting paid. This was never written down in the terms i signed.
TikTok doesn’t NEED UMG. UMG needs TikTok. TikTok is the new radio and music discovery. They are the platform to break new artists. UMG is trying to monopolize the industry by forcing DSPs like TikTok to adopt their artist model like Spotify and Deezer is doing, choking the life of the upcoming indie artists.
I don't think UMG needs TikTok that much as UMG is a powerhouse of famous artists already that don't benefit much from TikTok, except for older songs. The real problem here are the new artists that could see a lot of success.

Keep in mind that UMG's revenue soared because TikTok not only was able to provide UMG data they needed to sign new acts, but they also unlocked value from their old legacy catalog that was sitting for years. TikTok was able to revive those catalogs and make them popular again. Unless UMG builds their own viral platform like TikTok, they will have a hard time tapping into the resources of user generated data that TikTok provides.
@Reema-tz9ek pretty sure regardless of what tiktok paid the artist weren't gonna get more money, the label would of kept all the additional profit. It's kinda like how spotify gets blamed for not paying the artist enough when the real culprit are the labels. Who just keeps most of the profit. The funny thing is that spotify doesn't even pay per stream, their payouts are based on percentage.

This directly hurt us… we’re an independent artist under the UMG distribution umbrella. All our songs on TikTok were muted.
Revenue for most artist should be not a place forward after this controversy.
