- In today’s episode of the Times Now prime time debate show, the anchor Madhavdas has been discussing Rahul Gandhi's emergence as a key opposition voice. Now, Parliament has a common Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, marking his fifth consecutive term as a Member of Parliament. Times Now decodes Rahul Gandhi's resurgence as leader of the opposition.

"The government is not concerned about the future of the kids. Why can't the government, in a civilized manner, agree to hold a discussion on this matter?" said Renu Mittal.
"Certain MPs who raise certain issues get disqualified," noted Saba Naqvi.
"The BJP had 272+ seats in 2014, 300+ in 2019, and 240 in 2024, so if we compare Rahul Gandhi with the BJP, he still has a lot of catching up to do. Rahul Gandhi has improved, but not enough against the BJP," commented Tushar Gupta.

He has outlived his time and should have handed over the baton to a younger member of the party. He wanted to run the state through an outsider who couldn't stab him in the back. The result is for all to see. Had Gogoi stepped aside for Hemanto Biswa Sharma, the Congress would have been alive and kicking in Assam. Priya Ranjan Das Munshi didn't let Mamta in. Kamal Nath wouldn't share power with Jyotiraditya Scindia. Gehlot isn't ready for any compromise with Sachin Pilot. Siddaramiah wouldn't settle for any power sharing formula with DK. All of them, including Modi and Amit Shah, are megalomaniacs. They want to rule until the last day of their breath. They are totally blind to their shortcomings. Raga is no different. Both the sides are responsible for the ruckus in parliament. BJP is arrogant in its approach towards the opposition and doesn't want a parliamentary debate. The opposition, especially the Congress, suffers from a hangover of having been in a power for long. Ruckus is not new to parliament. BJP had once brought parliament to a halt over Bofors. For the past one decade, BJP had brutal majority and rode roughshod over the opposition. They would speak to the opposition without the least respect. The language that Smruti Irani would use was straight out of her serials. Just take the example of the Agricultural reforms of the government. It introduced three revolutionary changes without any discussion in the parliament citing COVID as an excuse. The bill could have been enacted before or after the pandemic. A discussion was essential for the people to understand what the bill envisaged. There are supporters as well as opponents for the bill. Hence the need for debate and modifications. Modi and Amit Shah should take a leaf out of Nitin Gadkari's book. He is efficient as well as good-natured. No state ruled by the opposition has any problem with him. Nor does he discriminate. The speaker has a great role to play in the running of the house. He should not be partisan. Om Birla is blatantly partial. Sumitra Mahajan was a BJP speaker, but she never tread on the corns of the opposition. When Raga complains that his Mike is switched off, (maybe it is childish), it is a matter of courtesy for the speaker to find out what has happened. To retort that he doesn't have the switch is thuggish and can serve only to raise the tempers.
Your response seems to suggest that there was no progress in the country before 2014. Don't forget DAE, NPCIL, NTPC, ISRO, green revolution, white revolution, industrial policies, AIIMS, IIMs, IITs etc. BJP is building on the revolution laid by the previous governments. Liberalisation and IT revolution were ushered in by PVN and MMS. Give the devil his due and extend civility to your adversaryies. Everything will be fine.
