one day I will be as good as dr pez leave a comment/like if you want me to do any more medley type things (and which game/s), or if you want me to play a dragonforce song
Goooood Morning HalfDuck! I am very grateful for your response to the OOT Medley comment!!! I am here to give you my ramblings while I go on this journey of nostalgic resonance or something whatever sounds cool :b Very happy start! Intro goes from aetherial/dancy to chuggy and headbangy, I wonder if this is an accurate tone-setter for the overall vibe of the medley! I love the weird spacey synth, the bass tapping, and then the effective tempo change (I am not confident enough to call it a time sig change in case I'm just dumb lol) The Eruption ref is very cool! I love the reduction when it gets like.. walky, routey, idk what to call that at the Outset Island part, I was tempted to refer to it as Waltzy ahahaha, the lil solo there is cute! I don't think I've ever played through windwaker, but I love what little music I've heard over the years from it (same with OOT, I dunno how I missed out on Zelda as a kid, I got into emulation in HS and really only got into the franchise with Breath of the Wild- )- - - I really don't type fast enough to keep up with my thoughts, the build up at 5:30 is crazy epic, so far the title is very accurate, good lord I love the tapping, and the sound you have for it there is very through the fire and flames aaahhh- I'm gonna take a break from the attempted stream of consciousness bit and get immersed for the end, I'll say somethin more if I feel the need to haha Holy crap whatever you have going on throughout minute 7 is just wild to me- I feel like I'm pretending to judge something I'm not an expert on so all I really want to write down on my scoreboard is 'YES' ahahaha the spooky wibbly wobblies at 8:40ish are very fun! (YES) AHAHAHA the transition at 9:15 and Link's face are magnificent, he really looks like 'wait a minutes, I smell some BS around here' xD sorry that was a bit unhinged, back to the fun high energy stuff- lots of sounds and riffs inspired by Dragonforce and other .. idk if it was a particular decade, of rock and metal back in 'the day' xD I wish I was perhaps more knowledgeable- aww, it ended so quickly- I feel like I blinked and it was all gone :( hmm Overall, very fun, very consistent! I love the overall theme and vibe, lots and lots of power-metal-y energy (I think that's the genre, aha) I don't think you asked, but just in case you want to know what le random stranger think, You play and write well enough in the moment (at least.. six months ago I suppose lol) I would consider those things to be of the same quality or 'tier' as the Dr. Pez works that I've heard so far! My only personal artistic critique if I were to forcibly compare you two, is that Dr. Pez arranges the overall experience in a way that (to ME) feels more grand and majestic, more.. tied into itself? I try to do that when I make playlists of other people's music to have the vibes and feelings of each track be part of the story yk yk- at least through my interpretation so far I don't get the same sense that your medleys (only the two I've heard so farrr mind you) have as.. masterful or graceful an overarching story to tell? Maybe I missed it, I'll def be listening to this for years to come though so I'll let you know if I change my stance on that! You do transitions very well and you either emulate or of your own accord do a very good job of vibe-hopping (imagine if I were a scientist coining all these new terms, mwahaha) I love when you move from exciting shreddy chunky to like, restarting the engine and building back up again- I would think, assuming I'm right in my abstract assessment here (artistic opinion, very subjective!) That I'd want to see you use that skill of navigating between style and feeling in the music to more deliberately convey a story! I think the OOT medley did that more coherently but I'm not sure if that was because it was inspired by the Dr. Pez OOT medley or not, and really the only reason i feel that way is because you use that calm piano part at the end, and Dr. Pez is really good at using that 'bringing it back' thing at the end of like.. a .. music paragraph? If the metaphor is that navigating between 'tracks' to convey a message or story, is like a larger more complex version of 'talking' with musical 'sentences' yk yk? Iirc in this windwaker piece you did revisit a motif, it was more in the middle, and that's cool, I just didn't get the sensation that it was a callback or to emphasize something that was musically said 🤔Then again, that could just be me so far, I'm just a random guy, I can only dream of dedicating the time to be as good as you at both playing guitar and writing the music- Truly, if there is any specific take-away from this that should be taken without salt, or whatever the phrase is- it's that I enjoy your work and am very excited to see what you have been up to since this, and what you'll be up to next
How am I just discovering this now and HOW DOES IT HAVE SO FEW VIEWS?!?!? Prog metal of my all time favorite LoZ game, I hope to see a full medley in the future
Heya! Yeah this was originally planned to be part 1 of multiple Wind Waker medleys, but the viewership didn't quite convince me to follow through with it yet haha. I think I need to make each part 20+ minutes long for it to get recommended to many people
@@HalfDuck damn the algo is nasty sometimes. I recently went through a ton of game OST mixes (including some dr pez) while hammering out some college stuff and it only came across my recommendations today. I look forward to seeing more prog/metal medleys in the future if you do post more!
@@DannyQ00024 VGM medleys are definitely still on my mind, I'm gonna try a Sonic Adventure one, but keep it more acoustic-focused (so it won't take as long as a full band prog metal one)
I've considered this actually, it would be nice to see it in better video quality. The only problem would be that people are nostalgic about the original, so any changes are gonna have people saying they liked the original more lol
@@HalfDuck Noooo, the original is fire 🔥. But the quality is just lacking thats all. I would really love if you improve it as I listen to your Soulless 5 cover when i am at the GYM

I love your covers bro, you should do a medley of the Super Mario 64 soundtrack, it would be great!!
final fantasy medeley
As much as I love Dr. Pez I appreciate someone filling the gaping hole they’ve left from not creating more Zelda medleys 😢
Yeahh shame that he doesn't have as much time to do more now
it's our job now, to take up the mantle, to rise up as a generation and write some sick music 😩
I'm not familiar with wind waker's OST, but I like this one even more than the OOT medley. Can't wait for the next part!
That's a good sign! The orchestral vst's I used here are probably preferable to the N64 soundfont I was using before

Awesome work! Watched both your OOT and Wind Waker videos back to back. Would love an OSRS medley!
Yes
I was already thinking of doing one! I'd start an iron man and make it a musical journey from tutorial island to dragon slayer
I am strongly looking forward to that!🫧
I will never complain about one of your CH charts if you make it
Another epic musical journey in a game I've never played but that for some reason sounds familiar. Amazing job!
Ty! I've seen various CZcamsrs use Wind Waker music in their background before, you might have subconsciously heard it there haha
My favourite zelda thx :D
It's one of the best
This is great!! Fingers crossed for a Part 2 where hopefully we get to see what you do with the Great Sea theme!
That's what I had planned haha
you actually are my favorite guitarist, love your content
Wind waker is my fav zelda, this was insane. Adding request for a yoshis island snes medley
