I wish I had known this when I was camping about 50 years ago.

To make the medicine bottle better use teflon Plumbing tape and wrap the threads and it will not let water inside.

You brought up on your latest video about waterproof matches make your own, so I went looking how to & what do you know I found you showing how to make them. Your Great.🤩😍

Great video and suggestions, I recently went through the same thought process. In addition to modifying kitchen matches like this, I also purchased some fireplace matches. There is a lot more wood in these matches, which would most certainly be helpful in igniting less cooperative materials if necessary.
Thank you for sharing and proving the effectiveness of the procedure.

We will try that thanks, candle wax works but that looks better, also if you put the striker in with the matches make sure to secure them with cotton balls or something so they don't jostle around and strike as you walk or move, my brother had an experience with that situation and I learned my lesson from him

I'm not sure but candle wax if you're going to be camping in hot climates I'm afraid candle wax could melt? I'd hate to have my matches all melted together. Does anybody know about that during high temperature camping?

Hi, Jenny! 👋 Yes, the waterproof matches are laughably expensive! No way! I now have the stick matches, and will be making waterproof ones very soon! If you put folded saran wrap over the lid of the medicine bottle, that should help keep it more waterproof.
    Thank you!

I take some glue and a small bit of sandpaper and glue it to the inside of the cap of the container for a quick strike. Sandpaper is the same as a striker.

I have NEVER had any luck with green head matches. EVERY ONE I have struck has flared up on strike and promptly gone out. I bought 6 boxes about 5-6 years back. Tested some from each box with same results. Even bought a couple more boxes from another place with same results. Threw them all out and found (with difficulty) strike anywhere matches that work great. Have used both nail polish and wax with good test results. Found the strike anywhere matches at an Amish general store.

I did this and it totally worked! Thank you so very much. Don't hate me but instead of painting it on I did it the lazy way and just dunked them in the mail polishthen shoved them in the floral foam... I know, I'm just doing it the lazy way but it worked great!!! 😊 Thank you again and again!

Regarding gel polish you mentioned, that does not dry without a uv or led light so probably more hassle than worth. Plus gel polish is pricey. Stick with the cheap dollar tree stuff imho. Great tip, thank you!

Wouldn't it be easier to just dip the match inside the jar then paint it. I think it would be faster and definitely would be sure to cover all exposed parts. And why wouldn't you want to do the whole match all the way through to the bottom just in case the it exposed will get stamped and it seats up inside the painted area. Just my thoughts and opinions
