  • Since 2009 Royal Enfield has introduced electronic fuel injected motorcycles. They have Keihin ECU that gets input from various sensors in the motorcycle. ECU controls fuel to air ratio and ignition timing providing excellent engine management.

    Excellent video about the ECU. No other details was left. Good job.

    RE ECU is made by Keihin which is a global supplier of electronic and other parts to motorcycle and auto industry. Keihin is very experienced, highly skilled in what they do. This is their proprietary ECU system, which is locked cannot be changed.

    Hello, is there any aftermarket EFI conversion kit for the 350cc engine? I was told it was extremely difficult to get the 500cc EFI and ECU to properly work in the 350cc.

    Hello
    Could you tell me how to change the temperature sensor ( Classic 500 Mod. 2018 )
    Thank you!!

    RE has a MIL light that blinks long and short codes if ECU detects engine, sensor or electrical problems.
    RE Chennai sells software for more detailed analysis of ECU data, but hardly anybody buys it as it is very expensive.

    Hi, do you know if this type of ECU can be adapted to other motorcycles? With different engine size (ie: 300cc) and different cranck position sensor (just one tab on the flywheel). In other words, if the ECU can have it's parameters changed by software. Thanks in advance.

    • @singh5g
      @singh5g  Před 5 lety +2

      The parameters of ECU cannot be changed by software. However, a power commander can be connected to it which can alter the signal going to the fuel injector and other components. If you watch my other videos for increasing engine performance and designing café racer these aspects have been mentioned. It involves a lot of work and also a dyno to optimize settings for power commander. Then there could be issues of sensor input into ECU, which may or may not be compatible. The alternative would be to fit a complete Royal Enfield ECU engine into the other motorcycle - just as a hybrid motorcycle called Triton was made of Triumph engine in a Norton frame ! Gracias.

    Hi, I have classic 500 efi........my bike is giving mild missing problem sometimes when i open up my throttle from zero. Also there is pick up issue and black smoke coming out from exhaust. The problem is that this is very irregular. My spark plugs have got lot of carbon deposits on it except tip. Its 1 month old bike and still in running period. I have showed it to RE workshop but they were not able to figure it out. Those idiots know nothing about ECU bikes. Seems like sometime my bike is running rich n sometimes very lean . Any idea that what can be the reason for it?

      I have same problem, miss was very was intermittent when new. got progressively worse. plug now fowls with black fluffy carbon within 20km . Still under warranty RE workshop has tried to fix 3 times, they now have no idea, not intermittent any more. now spend my nights trawling the internet looking for ways to fix

    singh5g Is it necessary for me to remap my ECU I changed my exhaust from stock one to a free flow ?

    • @singh5g
      @singh5g  Před 9 lety +1

      Jubin varghese :
      If the engine shows new symptoms such as it is hard to start, or stalls or backfires through exhaust or has knocking / pinging sound then the ECU map is not matched with the free flowing exhaust. ..
      If the engine is running fine without any unusual noises or changes in its performance that means ECU map is able to handle the new exhaust.

    • @Jubin_V

      singh5g How do i remap the ecu on my own ?
      The guys @Re service centre seems to know nothing about it !

    • @singh5g
      @singh5g  Před 9 lety +2

      Jubin varghese :You cannot remap ECU on your own. It is a locked system. .......To overcome that hurdle, Dynojet sells Power Commander V for Royal Enfield motorcycles. The power commander alters the signals from sensors, so ECU response is changed. ECU map is not in any way changed, it only picks different numbers from its stored maps. ..... .... These Power Commanders are made for ECU of US/European models of RE. These export models have oxygen sensors which are not present in Indian models. The mapping of our ECUs are somewhat different from Indian ECUs. Contact DynjojetResearch in US and ask them if the Power Commander would be suitable or could be made suitable for Indian ECU bikes......

  • @mystrywrx5396
    @mystrywrx5396 Před 9 lety

    is that an export model ??? because the model we get here doesn't have any O2 sensor connected to exhaust pipe...

    • @singh5g
      @singh5g  Před 9 lety

      The models sold in US and most European countries have oxygen sensor. Not all export models have it. Depends on the country and its regulations for exhaust emissions.

    • @mystrywrx5396
      @mystrywrx5396 Před 9 lety

      I'm from India and we don't have that here so the 500efi we get has issues from birth cuz of missing O2 sensor causing malfunction in ECU/ECM which leads to lean mixture running motorcycle

    • @singh5g
      @singh5g  Před 9 lety

      Chintan Gajjar Oxygen sensor is a secondary sensor and plays minor role. The main reason for lean fuel mixture is the primary fuel map loaded on ECU.
