- Join me for a walk around the delightful and lively town centre of Kirkby Stephen, located in southernmost Cumbria on the northern tip of the Yorkshire Dales. Home to centuries of history from its earliest years as a major Viking settlement, Kirkby Stephen is a delightful place to walk around, and the site of some world-famous heritage too!
On our walk around Kirkby Stephen, we pass a number of interesting landmarks, including The Cloisters, Kirkby Stephen Market Square, Kirkby Stephen War Memorial, Kirkby Stephen Parish Church, Harrison Thompson Fountain, The Taggy Man pub, Upper Eden Visitor Centre, The Black Bull Hotel, Kirkby Stephen Evangelical Church, The Old Croft House, The Pennine Hotel, Ye Olde Fountain Inn, Frank's Bridge and the River Eden.

Been to Kirkby stephen about 6 times
And always visited the toilets ,which are just off the market place , but never knew what was down that pathway , but the next time I go , I will walk down that pathway , now I know that the river is there . Because it looks so picturesque
Ha ha it's a little hidden gem just on the side of a real gem of a town! The toilets are nice and convenient - but certainly a walk down the alley towards Frank's Bridge is just that little bit more special :)
Thank you so much for watching - I really hope you enjoyed the video!
Excellent video once again
Great history lesson
Ha ha thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed the video - Kirkby Stephen really is a fascinating place with thoroughly interesting history :)
Thank you so much for watching!
What a beautiful, scenic part of our 'green and pleasant land'! Anywhere with eerie goings on and hauntings gets my vote. I could imagine myself settling here. Another well presented, informative video, sir.
Ha ha I do like a local legend myself too, and the Taggy Man certainly is a good one to scare the children of Kirkby Stephen through the centuries :)
Thank you so much for watching and for your very kind words as always - I'm really glad you enjoyed the video!
@@LetsWalkUK ... When I was a kid the only threat for bad behaviour was Mam calling in the local bobby who was a jovial chap who really struggled with being stern around children, bless him. A scary legendary 'bad man' would've been more effective, haha.
Nice walk of the town I enjoyed it very much. Beautiful and historical also. Can't wait to see more tomorrow 😀
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video - stay tuned for more in the future :)
Such a charming video. Thank you.
What an interesting video ! My wife and I have visited here every Summer since 1992 . I will tell my Wife these interesting facts you have included throughout our oncoming trip. I look forward to watching more of your Northern walks . 👍
Ah! A very good plan indeed! Kirkby Stephen is a lovely place to visit, and those extra facts will certainly be the cherry on top of the cake for your next trip there :)
Thank you so much for watching - I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!
I enjoyed that very much. 😊
Many thanks. Subbed.
Nice video 😀
Thank you so much! I'm really glad you enjoyed it :)

Hey I'm only 10 mins away from there
You're very lucky to be! It's a wonderful part of the world - especially when the sun is shining so beautifully :)
Thank you so much for watching - I really hope you enjoyed the video!
@@LetsWalkUK I very much did! My grandad lives in that town and he is also very lucky, I learn alot from there since its quite an old town.
Yorkshire Dales ????
National Park, but these are the Westmorland Dales, and you're in Cumbria...or Westmorland if you prefer. Definitely not Yorkshire. I know very pedantic but imagine if you ascribed parts of Yorkshire to another county the White Rose would cry havoc and let loose the dogs of war ......🤣👍.(Ironic I opted for a Lancastrian there😉🤫)
One more didactical video by L´ Walk, showing innermost parts of England, hitherto known only by locals.
Thank you so much! Kirkby Stephen certainly is a hidden gem of England, nestled up on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, but it's certainly no less rich in history and sights than some of the country's more well-known spots :)
Thank you very much for watching and commenting as always - I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!
