I got mine initially at my friends' house, and she tried to explain to me how to use a tampon. I literally started crying because I was so confused. Her mom went and got me one of her pads instead and I used those ever since. I more recently started using a cup instead and it has been such a money saver. No more panic attacks, lol

Don't use tampons. They can cause TSS, or more commonly dry vagina amongst other issues.
I'd suggest sticking to a menstrual disk or cup. They're saftee for you body, no mess, you can swim with it in and it should be 0 leakage.
Cheaper in the long run too. I used to use pads but I switched to a cup and I NEVER go anywhere without my cup, when I go on trips etc. Literally a godsend

Its not blood clots… a period is when your uterus starts shedding the lining it has built up over the last 28 days.
After your period is over, the lining of your uterus starts to build up again to become a thick and spongy 'nest' in preparation for a possible pregnancy.
I appreciate you accurately describing what happens I just want to randomly point out that for some reason referring to it as a "nest" made me shudder lol

Just shove it up there if it's just in a package, the type she's using in the video though has something called an applicator which you'd also put up there, but you'd push that little stick thing by the strings down to release it. The reason for using an applicator is so that the fabric of the tampon won't stick on the way in.
Now the tampons themselves... they're like a pad but it stops the flow directly. The string is there so that when it's time to change your tampon you can pull it out. It will say how long you can keep it in on the box, but you should change more frequently if your flow is heavy
Personally, I stick with pads. When you're sexually inactive, you get tighter, and I'm a non-masturbating virgin, so tampons and menstrual cups don't fit. With both pads and menstrual cups, you shouldn't be uncomfortable with the feeling of them, and you shouldn't continue using them if you can't get them to fit comfortably.

ive always used pads, just thinking about using a tampon scares me 😭
The 1st time I got my period I was at my friend's house. She gave me a tampon and tried to explain how to use it and I broke down crying because I couldn't figure it out. She got her mom who gave me one of her pads and I used those since until a few years ago.
I discovered menstrual cups and they have been the biggest money saver ever! You just sanitize and reuse them. They are weird at first but the directions walk you through how to use it. You can tell when you've used it correctly because you don't feel it at all.
Purchasing menstrual products cost an average of $18,000 over our lifetime. Breaking it down it costs roughly $200-$300 just for pads per year but a cup is about $30 and lasts for several years. Of course, it's a great option to consider if you are able to use one

This made me realise that I, a 22 year old cis female, actually don't really know how to put in a tampon. I've always just used pads and so has my mum so nobody ever showed me...
I once used my moms tampons to clean off poop that fell on the floor. Since I didnt want anyone knowing and there was no toilet paper I cleaned it off with my moms tampon and sprayed it off with alcohol... I then threw it out at the top window which leads to nowhere and its just been sitting there for years and no one in my family knows. PS: I was 10 at the time

This is the main reason why I wear pads 😭 no matter how much people want me to swim in water, I'm still not gonna do it and I rather swim after my period
You can't make me cause wearing pad panties is more comfortable and convenient
I showed my husband how they work i also told him the good brands and all that. I told him as soon as i found out i was pregnant with my daughter. I also told him dark chocolate can make cramps worse so get light chocolates. If anything ever happens to me or if im not home when my daughter is old enough to get her first period, he will be all set to help her.

I don’t get how people can stand pads tho. I hate how I can always feel and sometimes hear them. The first time I put a tampon in it hurt a bit and was a little uncomfortable but tbf I also put it in wrong lol cause I was too dumb to read the directions. The second time, I put it in and did not feel a thing. I also notice less of a smell when I use a tampon. Prob different for everyone but I personally didn’t ever rlly feel nervous abt the thought of a tampon. Idk tampons are just way less noticeable and pads kinda feel like mini diapers to me😭
Im a girl and when I discovered my moms tampons in a drawer when I was 7 I was so much more confused than this I was terrified when the plastic expanded and the spikey parts spread out I had a new respect for older women that day
