      🤣🤣🤣🤣 I have heard that once or twice! I worked at Walmart once upon a time (not too long after Enchanted was released, actually), and as I was in the check stand working a woman YELLED across the lobby, "Hi, AMYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY ADAMSSSSS!!!!!" I think I looked tomato red for at least an hour after that. LOL!!!

    I use a hot ruler to iron my pressing lines. They are short but they are really easy to use.
    Thank you so much for your video. My sister added a grime guard to her Christmas wish list 2 weeks before our family Christmas.
    So. … thank you so much for your video. God bless you.

      I was at a Christmas party over a week ago and a woman received one of those as a gift! I hadn't seen it prior, but I added it to my list of notions I want to buy! It would be perfect for ironing this hem so easily!!

Now if I just had a grime guard that matched my project bag (wink wink) ;)) Catching up on your other videos I'm behind its been really nice out. This week not so much. TFS!! :))

    Christine, I had to stop your video to make this comment lest I forget by the end. Which I likely would have! I have been sewing for many years, but your tip about scoring the fold lines with that tool is something I have never done. I love it! I’ve seen those tools before but didn’t know what they were for. You can bet your sweet bippy I’ll be getting one! Thanks for this wonderful tutorial.

    Christine, I enjoy learning from your tutorials. I am glad I am not that picky because I would never get anything sewn. Tonight I was sewing and my thread broke when it was in a spot that you would notice. I just carried on. Oh well. Next time I will use your trade secret if its for a friend. But most of my stuff is for grandchildren who don’t look the close.
    Thanks for taking the time and care to share with all of us.

      Thank you, Joanne! I'm only that picky when I sew for others. Not so much for myself! There are some things we just don't have time for; and spending 20 minutes to tie off and bury knots for my own grime guards is not one of those things...LOL!!!!

      Oh, wow, Toni! What a compliment!! Thank you!! I think some of the bag-sewing techniques crossed over into other areas. I learned making those that you should try to never have back stitching shown in any of your top stitching, and so that just sort of bled out into other areas of sewing. I still have so much to learn, I know!!

    You are fantastic Christine, you explain everything so well. I made the cushion as you know now to try grime guards, no doubt you'll see it on Instagram and/or Facebook. Would you consider making a tutorial on how to make project bags? I'd love to be able to make my own as having to buy it and the cost of shipping to England is expensive xx

      @StitchALLTheThings  Před 6 lety +1

      Oh, thank you so much! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE your cushion too! I hope you love making these as well!! I would love to make a tutorial on those bags, but I can't because it's not my pattern. It's a pattern from byAnnie.com (it's actually called The Project Bag...for real!) I'm so sorry!!

    • @craftysal4615
      @craftysal4615 Před 6 lety

      Stitch ALL The Things I love my cushion too and it’s all thanks to you that I made that jump to make it. After I finished stitching the pattern I wasn’t sure what to do with it, I knew I didn’t want it on the wall so it was left in a plastic popper folder. Now I can look at it and appreciate it everyday. As for the grime guard I started last night after watch this at least 4-5 times I still made the mistake of cutting my fabric too short (seam allowance Sal 🙄 seriously LISTEN to Christine)! Anyway not all is lost I can make a smaller one with what I cut. Oh that’s such a shame about the project bags, I’ll take a look at the link you added. Maybe you could design your own 😉 anyway no worries. I hope you’re having fun with all the wonderful things you’re doing. Take care and I look forward to seeing your next video xx

    I've never actually used a grime guard since I use hoops and most I've seen are for qsnaps. Do the ones for hoops work well or is it harder to keep them in place ?

    • @StitchALLTheThings
      @StitchALLTheThings  Před 6 lety

      I haven't actually used one on a hoop... I don't know how well they'd work for that or not. I've heard of people buying steering wheel covers at the Dollar store to use for the round hoops, so maybe they stay on okay?? I'm sorry, I don't have an answer for you.

  • @aileenholmes3489
    @aileenholmes3489 Před 6 lety

    Hi. Thank you for the great video. Could you tell me is it the same process for making grime guards for hoops too? Thanks.

    • @StitchALLTheThings
      @StitchALLTheThings  Před 6 lety

      Hi, Aileen! I would think the same process would apply, but I would definitely cut down the width, since the hoop is not as thick as a QSnap. I'm not sure of the measurements, but I would start at 5", and see how that worked. If it was still too wide, then I'd try 4".

  • @lindaschindhelm1881
    @lindaschindhelm1881 Před 6 lety

    Great tutorial. Your attention to detail is commendable. I have seen a lot of sloppy sewing. I don’t know if people don’t care or if they just need to take a class from you. 😊 I love your labels. Where do you get them?

    • @StitchALLTheThings
      @StitchALLTheThings  Před 6 lety

      Thank you, Linda! I got the labels from CustomLabels4U. They are on Instagram and here is their website: www.customlabels4u.com/woven-labels-1.shtml The website seems overwhelming, but I emailed them to clarify certain things and make sure I understood the process (it's been a while since I ordered). They were fantastic to work with and their communication was excellent.

    @goatmama3818 Před 6 lety

    Great tutorial! Thanks. I'm wondering though about making grime gaurds for hoops. Would it pretty much go the same way? Because I don't like Q-snaps. I'm a hoop stitcher.

    • @StitchALLTheThings
      @StitchALLTheThings  Před 6 lety

      Thank you, Angi! I haven't made them for hoops, but I would think it would be the same process. I would definitely change the width though, since hoops aren't as thick as Q-snaps. Maybe start at 4" wide, iron the hems, wrap it around the edge of the hoop and then see if you need to reduce it more.

    • @StitchALLTheThings
      @StitchALLTheThings  Před 6 lety +1

      Thank you, Teri! I did make a pressing board to sit on my table. Unfortunately I didn't record a video when I made it. It was super quick to put together though, and very easy. I had a piece of wood cut to fit the table top (my husband cut it down for me, but Lowe's/Home Depot will cut it down as well). I cut a piece of cotton batting to fit the top of the wood. I cut a piece of Insul-Bright to the same size and placed it over the top (you can just use two layers of batting instead). Then I cut a piece of cotton duck fabric three inches larger (on all sides) than the piece of wood. I placed that on top, flipped the board over and used a staple gun to staple the fabric down. I cut a piece of batting and used some Aleene's Spray glue to adhere it to the back. That way it protects the table from the staples. Easy-peasy!
