For future projects; just sand and prime the door and masking tape won't cause any chipping also your hard work will stay there until you decide to sand it down again.
Hack with the tape: wait for paint to be 100% dry then stick it to your clothes a few times (eg: put it on your shirt the take it off -repeat 2ish times) then it makes the tape less sticky so it won’t pull off paint! 🎨 ❤ hope this helps (although being late)

Tip for painter’s tape: do a layer of clear paint when you put down the tape-it seals the gaps and allows for a much cleaner line!
