If you want to switch amp or cab sim on or off, you need to hold the switch while powering up, and the choose.

The Room settings on both pedals are not meant to be a reverb (even though they are technically a reverb). They’re just meant to convey the sound of a real guitar amp in a real room. Both would still require reverb pedals.

It's definitely you or the device itself. I've just purchased the lion today and I'm blown away over how good it sounds. I knew it would because I've already got the dream 65. If I can get it sounding great I have no idea how you couldn't. As others have already stated, the lion room setting represents room mics, not reverb.
Also, you don't need the app. I haven't used it at all. You can do everything from the pedal. Pair it with the Ox stomp for the ultimate direct tone. There isn't anything that comes close in my opinion and I've pretty much tried them all.
This video was like watching Laurel and Hardy trying to move a piano. 😂
Just a thought. When I first got the Dream 65, I couldn't get that to sound anything like what I was expecting. I did a factory reset just to see and it fixed the issue.

Turn the gain down! Every video on CZcams has people going straight to Van Halen. If you use the Super Bass with MID GAIN and my Gretsch you get a stunning Malcolm Young tone. That’s how those sound. Also don’t crank channel 2. That is the Mud channel.

Perhaps not having the UAFX Lion in constant bypass mode (at minute 22 and forward) will make it sound better.. but, what do i know!

I don't believe you, playing my thousands of dollars worth pedals all at once in true bypass mode straight into my interface is the best tone heard by any human alive

Definitely prefer the Strymon: the ONLY thing you need an app for (which is super super important!) is to load in the IRs you like for each amp. From there it's really easy to make sound great, plus you have several convincing flavors of each amp model when you turn the drive up past 1-2 o'clock. In my world it's important to get good sounds quickly, so IMO the strymon wins on the workflow alone. I've also found some really fun uses for it that make it worth keeping at the end of the board all the time, even if it's winter and I'm not on the road at all.

The UAFX Lion sounds excellent through my studio monitors. It sounds horrible in to the effects loop. I genuinely don’t know how you’ve got it to sound so horrible! I’ve got a lot of gear to compare it to. There’s really something amiss here!

Just got a Tonex one...Trying to get this thing set up has been an absolute nightmare!!! The software for it is truly a convoluted mess. It is a powerful platform that promises a lot. I just hope it ends up delivering eventually because right now I'm just plain frustrated. For what it's worth, I really enjoy using the UAFX "amp" pedals for recording.

Got the simplifier X … last 3 days … not going back to modelling pedals. Owned the first 3 UA amp algos in a box for £399
Lost an arm and leg when I sold them on … UA profiteers selling digital like it’s analogue for a decade ..
p.s love the honest approach on this channel.. keep it up,

I did exactly the opposite to you. Got rid of my Simplifier and invested in UA. UA beats it hands down in my opinion. I've never had a better tone. My recordings using the Dream 65 and the Ox stomp are better than my mic'd up deluxe. Horses for courses I guess.

@@ChrisJones-ht9zn cheers Chris . I play slide and lapsteel… not that that’s important or crazy different . I guess for some people it’s tone. For others it’s feel. The UA are not crap at all in any way. neither is the modeller of choice I still keep for practise and travel. Horses for courses like you say. The simplifier feels like an amp or even an acoustic if I want real direct feel and TONE. all modellers digital feel like a movie, special effects or a photograph. I think once you feel it it hard to see it differently. Much like flat earth or chem trails I’m told … :) 2024 ✌️

I read in comments here that you go to ox stomp, why you do that if output is already cab and room simulated? is it to have more choices or does Ox do cab sim better and you don't use Lion's one at all?

  • @jakestewartmusic
    @jakestewartmusic Před 23 dny +1

I was hoping for a decent comparison, but this isn't helpful at all.
These guys (mostly the Tele guy) clearly don't understand how to use the pedals, what the actual features of the pedals even are, how to dial in a Marshall, or how to tune a guitar.

Guys.. it doesn't take that long to actually research these pedals a bit so you don't spend wasted time messing with things that are easily fixed..... the Iridium has been out a long time... from the beginning it has been known that the reverb in there is just more for a bit of feel.... it isn't a true effect... y'all did manage to make the Lion sound awful where most people don't.... so, congrats?
