The first mako that is what you call a real mako folahaka lelei ngali faiva matai faiva haka ngali tangata faiva teki faiva faiva like modern Tongan warriors
This is awesome! But it would be even better if you guys did this without any modern instruments (guitar, ukulele, etc.) just straight up native instuments and voices. I'm from Hawai'i and in our hula kahiko (ancient form of hula) we only use native instruments and of course the oli (chant) and mele (song). You can feel the mana of your ancestors when you're dancing. Anyway you guys still did a great job and please don't take my comment as something negative. I have nothing but love for my Polynesian 'ohana.. Aloha nui to my Tongan cousins.
On point! we should use our voices and native instruments because its more beautiful. Dont worry about William who replied below he's a....lol. Viliami its not nice to be rude. At least he's being honest, and we should use more of our selves rather than modern day instruments. Oua kohu siana hahaha
What does that have to do with anything? Unlike Tongans we kanaka maoli have to fight all the time to keep our culture and traditions alive because we were taken over by many of the worlds super powers back in the day. Ultimately by the USA, the biggest of them all. Our language was outlawed for many many years and my people died off by the thousands because of the various diseases that the foreigners brought to our shores. It's amazing that we are still here at all. I have nothing but aloha for all of my Polynesian ohana. We look to places like Tonga for inspiration. My people will continue to fight forever to keep our culture from disappearing. Aloha nui

hamajangz In my books I still regard Hawaii a nation on it's own. Damn the idiots who took over our ancestral home grounds. Respect to you.
