As a really cool no-life with 2000+ hours among all consoles (1332 hours on PC no mods, 303 hours on TModloader, countless more on PlayStation 3 and 4) who is currently taking a break from Terraria, I can certify that one of the only reasons I came here was to flex how much I don't go outside and also reassure you that yes, my experience with Terraria was absolutely nothing like the video.
Also this video is awesome and I hope everyone's experience is like this instead of having to put up with terrible Terraria console controls D:

As a also really cool 1800+ plus hours on PC and Tmodloader, who is also taking a break from terraria (And losing all skill in the process) I can agree that one of the reasons I can to watch this was to flex the fact that grass is overrated and that my experience with terraria was partially like this video (But mostly not)
      Great video!

as a person who decided to suffer through 5k+ hours, most of the hours are on modded and few are on base game, both pc, i only play terraria if i decide to play new calamity updates, or the homies call for me to join their playthrough, very few random things i dont know, i hate the angler and lava baptize him every playthrough after wof for good luck to get titanium
i am technically under 250th on most terraria hours if i didnt have to acc migrate twice, losing hours logged on steam.

I'm an "old school" player by today's standards ig. My steam playtime is 1212 hours, but that isn't really accurate because it doesn't count mobile, which is where I started. It also doesn't really count any tmodloader time. Most of that was in 1.3, where I played Thorium and Calamity back when it was still pretty new. I also played Tremor, if anyone remembers that one! I feel like I've been through a lot of these phases, and I've kinda done both of the "branching paths" phase 6 by now. I now mostly just go on and off, but I also had that extreme 1% time as well.

    • @cinnamoncat8950
      @cinnamoncat8950 Před 7 měsíci +1

I originally played terraria starting at 1.1
then 1.2 came out and I fell in love with it, I did like 3 different playthroughs (vanilla) and 1 with friends.
I took a long break, then I decided to try an Expert Mode playthrough with friends recently (as I had used characters from older worlds to do expert mode when it first came out, but since I did it the hard way, I felt way more satisfied even when my laptop crashed on moon lord)
The game had so many changes from when I last played. The highest boss I fought had been Plantera, then I briefly got back into the game and beat Moon Lord, but then I had a long hiatus.
My friend told me to try out Calamity, and needless to say, I'm enjoying my calamity playthrough.
I wish I could tell more people to get into Terraria, but the base game is so inflated now, I'm scared that newcomers will be scared off by the long crafting trees or absurd amount of content!

I built a house inside the foliage of a huge tree out of glass and ropes and there were no back walls. During those first hours of the game, I did not encounter a single boss, so I was very surprised when I found out that they were in this game. (Even though I saw the twins on the cover of the game). I got around 300 hours on vanilla and 200-300 on tmod.
I haven't touched calamity but I did play thorium, however I really think it's only good for the classes it's adding rather than the vanilla classes, cuz most stuff that it adds for them kinda sucks compared to what vanilla has for them.
Orchid is also a very good mod that adds a few new classes as well and actually has some good additions for vanilla classes too.
But I like mods that add new content and moda that aim to improve vanilla classes.
My favourite is probably spear overhaul cuz it makes spears fun and viable, which is kinda cool considering how underwhelming spears are in vanilla.

I played on casual mode for my first character. Breezed through eye, brain, dungeon guardian and king slime. After killing the wall of flesh in the same gear I killed everyone else in (I believe ancient cobalt) I decided to make a new world on Master mode
20 hours of death and currently unable to progress (need to kill the dungeon guardian). I've tried to over gear myself and run around in the hellstone armor + minishark but I still can't beat him. Any tips? I tried getting the shark necklace, but after 5 bloodmoons and 15 money throughs I still can't get it for some reason

I'm at almost 2500 hours and the most modded I've played was back in 2012 when they announced the 1.2 update. I got so hyped for it that I finally bought the game on steam (before that a friend gave it to me on his USB) and I installed the Avalon mod, and played that all the way through. Since then the only mods I've really touched are the accessory item mod (just cuz being OP is fun) and a skyblock mod pack by Freedbot.
And speaking of skyblock, I've spent the last 300 or so hours just playing various skyblock maps and doing a bunch of glitch hunting trying to find the absolute minimum required to beat the game (spoilers: it can be beaten without the starting tools and with nothing in the world but a single leaf block).
Glitch hunting is my life right now, in the past like 10 days I've gotten 81 hours in the game doing basically nothing else.
Btw if anyone here is a fellow glitch hunter I'm interested to join new communities and learn new stuff! (can't promise I'll share all my secrets though, heh)

It's kinda more complicated in my case since I started on 1.0.4 and played every time new version came out. And I'm a type of player who do one playthrough playing literally whole days until the end instead of playing regularly for 2-4 hours a day/in free time. Also I can't make more than 1 playthrough per at least half a year. Now waiting for 1.4.5 to play again with friends since I don't want to get bored by playing it before, especially we've just finished 1.1. I remember those days when I was watching gameplays and reading wikipedia to the point I was walking knowledge about this game and every playthrough with friends we haven't need wikipedia. I WAS THE WIKIPEDIA. And still I am. Amazing journey.

my first world that i ever played on in terraria was on master mode and i tried to make it even harder for myself by not using things like wiki to learn things. i did look up some basics though like how to beat the game (how to spawn all the bosses) that way i actually finish the game. when i got to around mid game i pretty much mastered the game just like any other. it took me roughly 150 hours to finish my first world. then my 2nd world was Calamity Infernum mode, i'm still trying to finish it as i recently got back to the game, it's pretty fun (cries inside while saying it's pretty fun). i will try to finish it in less than 150 hours

Steam says I have ~400 hours in Vanilla Terraria, and ~330 hours in tModLoader, and that's just the past year or two.
I've been playing Terraria since 2013, so I likely have ~2000 hours total, though I've only actually gotten decently good at the game in the last 700 of which, where I was playing in Expert mode.
I think my favorite playthrough so far was the True Melee playthrough I recently finished. It opened my eyes to the beauty of Tank builds.
Though if I remember correctly, in my first successful boss fight in my Terraria career (I've fought and died to Skeletron multiple times before this), I defeated Eye of Cthulhu with a Trident, no buffs, 200 HP (the highest I could get in that version), and whatever armor I happened to have on me

It was because im way better at the game than i was in classic mode, i knew what accessories i needed etc, but my first classic experience was way harder than the expert mode after. No bosses took me more than 5 tries, didnt really have trouble with anything. So right now im thinking about playing calamity, since the base game doesnt feel that challenging (+ i wanna be cool too)

170 hours, over 60 of that in pre-hardmode
Got most of achievements (except some like getting all npcs, 200 fishing quests, etc)

He was already end game and I never had to play the start or see any bosses, I even thought “hard mode” was like some exclusive mod type thing. When I first played on my 3DS (this was probably 7 years ago atp) I only knew of one weapon that I wanted to get and how to get it, everything else like armor, other weapons, and ESPECIALLY potions I had no idea of how to get. I have just a little over 500 hours into the game. When I baught it I convinced 2 friends to buy it soon after. We wanted to complete the game together and I set a rule to myself to not go further then where we are in our multiplayer world. Only problem I do play a lot more and on our multiplayer world we made it to just before the wall of flesh. Then we all took a giant break from playing together. I still liked the game. I played on master mode and I got like 4 playtroughs just did everything untill the WoF. Then one time we hung out again but it was like 7 months since we last did (we only played multiplayer if we where irl together, so thats why it took so long. They live in a different city and every other time we met I didnt had my laptop or they didnt etc etc.) anyways we started a new world on Master difficulty (also because a new update that added shimmer, and I wanted to switch our multiplayer world to master) we played very mutch and we hung out like a few times a month with fun sleep overs and great gaming sessions. We made it to the mech bosses on our miltiplayer servers. I still try to hold on to not progress further then the mech bosses. I think I know like 90% pre hardmode and I have good skills. Like movement and I know what I am doing. I have played basically 500 hours pre hardmode but now hardmode is so much fun. I know so little yet so much. I cant wait till we beat the game all together for the first time. I do know whats coming because I have watched guides and lets plays etc etc. just never done it. Where as my 2 friends have 0 clue. I cant wait for the next session and one of my friends is going to find the planterra bulb. She likes to collect flowers. I know whats going to happen but they dont haha (even tho I have never faught it)

I'm at the moment of posting this 44 hours away from getting 1000 hours on terraria! (most of that time was spent on tmod). I was inspired to get the game after watching my dad play it and watching some vids on yt. and for the 5 euros I got it for, it's the best value game I think I'll ever buy in my life. But after all that time, I kind of miss the feeling of doing a playthrough for the first, second or third time, getting some friends to play with me kind of helped relive that, but my first playthrough of the game was just amazing. I remember struggling on the mech bosses and seeing a video where they use the megashark against the twins, so I ended up killing the destroyer with my dad, he was using a magic dagger and I was using a yoyo... something I'd almost never do these days unless it's for a challenge. (small fun fact: I have by now almost triple the time on terraria as my dad does and he's had the game for way longer than I've had it. Maybe I'm a little adicted, who knows)

And then started a single player master mode world (I decided that I want to beat the game on master mode for my first time). then later made a world with some other people and made it to moon load but haven’t beat him yet. Whats funny is I have 1000+ hours if you combine vanilla and modded and I STILL have yet to ever beat or even play a Normal difficulty Terraria world. I started when my two friends got me into it in 1.3 and even from the start we played Expert mode. Of course me being new I died a lot, but I feel like I also learned FASTER as a result. Now as someone who plays Master/Infernum I could literally never imagine going back to a vanilla Normal world.
