  • It’s frustrating when the cable breaks on a Lego Power Functions motor, since they are permanently attached there is no easy way to replace them. But if you have a soldering iron it’s actually not that hard to repair it. Here is an easy step-by-step instruction on how to repair a Lego Power Functions M-motor 8883. I am by no means a soldering expert, so if I can do it, you can too!

    Worked perfectly fine! Though, the clips were so hard to push in that the motor almost falls apart without the screw now😅

    Thank you so much. First time using a soldiering iron with my 8 year old, great learning experience!

    Great vid, thanks! But what if the opposite end of the wire has to be repaired?

      @Mr.Engine993 Před rokem +1

      You could repair it with an extension wire but better buy a new motor, it will not be more expensive. If it was an L, XL or Buggy motor it would be worth repairing like this

    What type of lubricating oil do you use?

    is it possible to wire up a servo motor to work with power functions?

    • @BuilderBasti
      @BuilderBasti Před měsícem

      Probably yes, but there is a Lego servo motor (power functions) as well. If the Lego one is too large for your build though, there's likely a way to connect a power functions plug to a cheap small servo, although it would require chopping either an extension cable or motor cable, soldering and knowledge on how to connect the wires properly

      @@BuilderBasti apparently you can't, since a servo motor needs a pwm control so you can't just easily connect wires to a servo

    What is the technical specs of the wires. Mine have become brittle and broken so need to replace it.

    • @BuilderBasti
      @BuilderBasti Před měsícem

      You can just use basically any flexible enough wire, but it's likely cheaper to buy new Lego-compatible motors if you don't have some wire laying around

    Do you know how strong that polyfuse is?

    • @BuilderBasti
      @BuilderBasti Před měsícem

      It probably says it on the fuse itself

    • @Einheit101
      @Einheit101 Před měsícem

      @@BuilderBasti nope. But i solved my issue by just removing that thing, its not needed if you take care that the motor doesnt get blocked.

    is there anywhere I could get 3 spare Lego M motor gears? (inside pieces) lol... i lost them before watching the vidio... is there anywhere i could but theese? (i have a 3D printer if there are any models)

    • @raphi01
      @raphi01 Před 2 lety

      Well, there must be 3 gears remaining and you could just create a model by measuring everything and counting the teeth etc., but i don't think that you are gonna find a model on the internet. So maybe searching for the gears on the floor takes less long than creating a model of them ;)

    • @Mr.Engine993
      @Mr.Engine993 Před 2 lety +1

      If you find at least one of the gears you can make the motor work. But if you find one, you can 3D-scan it and print copies. Without at least ONE of the gears, you do not have many chances of repairing it. Better give 5-7$ for a brand new motor
