Art Garfunkel has an angelic voice. He has made life sooo much more enjoyable for soo many. Genius! Beautiful! and soo talented. And what a genuine and nice man. Simply a great interview.
If I've ever seen inspiration shining in someone's eyes: Artie's eyes just sparkle when he sings as if he's seeing something heavenly in another dimension. He just pulls those golden threads and wafts them up and over me in gentleness, goodness and absolute greatness. His songs calm my spirit. I get inspired just watching him sing. And listening to him is really something else! Love you Artie! Shalom.
Really enjoy that his team reflects and harmonizes his style so beautifully. He shares the 'spotlight' of performance with them all. Love the 'stories' in his lyrics, and the messages in his songs; and that soft whispery sound, so gentle that it caresses, churns, and moves. Lovely sound, lovely artists. Lovely Art.
I'm looking at the other comments... and seeing that these are generally from many years ago. I had never seen an interview with Art, but am astounded by his intelligence as well as how eloquent and kind he was.
What an intelligent man. And one of the best voices ever to come out of a human. I feel very lucky to have been able to listen to Simon & Garfunkel's music.
Strange to think of those words from Bookends as 19 year old .How terribly strange to be seventy, from old friends. As I approach my 68th year ,how terribly strange.
Art, you are a complete mystery to me. From your amazing color changing eyes to your passion for singing and ability to sing with so many artists. I have enjoyed hearing you read the note to your younger self, to the interviews where we get a peek at your beautiful blue eyes and a nano second of your humor about hats. Your songs with Sweet Baby James I must admit was a favourite. I will be seventy on September twenty-fifth. I listen to your music (with and without Simon) everyday, for hours. It is a pleasure I look forward to but.....I dread that inevitable day and hope I take my turn first.
Oh yes, Art Garfunkle really is the very voice of the earth. Who could ever forget his role in Bridge Over Troubled Waters and the soothing, soul-reassurance sound he made. Then came Bright Eyes(full released version - not the half-baked version from the movie). For anyone who has not heard that, it is as wonderful a song as you can imagine. Written by Mike Batt, Art provides the most perfectly matched vocals.
This part has been rexorded in 2003. Just watching it and perceiving that TAB LAVEN already joined Art Garfunkel at that time! So good to see that Tab Laven is Art Garfunkels`s accompanier on guitar while Art has starting touring around the world again since an yeard and a half. Art Garfunkel was not able to sing due to vocal parasis but he did not leave the stage. From the time of 2010 he is rehearsing each day in order to get his voice back. Art does these rehearshal with TAB LAVEN. Last week they were to perform in Israel, Tel Aviv. A lot of wonderful videos has been made from that stadium-concert held on the 10th of June 2015. Unfortunately the voice did not recover: it is still vunerable but minding Art Garfunkel`s age now being 73rd now. Please forgive him. I will go to Antwerp next year in order to meet Art and Tab again! This year I saw them both performing in Haarlem, Holland and I was blown away by these two men: really! The concert was real magic I can assure you! Kind regards from Holland by a real Art and Tab lover (f)!
Amazing, I am going to be 65 in a couple of month's and have been listening to S & G from the summer between High School and First year of college. I love and admire a great number of Artist and types of music, but only three voices on this planet will make Me stop in my tracks no matter where I am or what I am doing and just listen. Art was the first My Wife's later and then Alison Krouse even latter. My Wife and I loved singing togather and spent many many weekends sing S&G songs . She started singing in GOD'S House two year's ago. Art's voice can even now bring tear's to my eye's no matter how many times I hear a song.. kevlutu
Art Garkunkel. Strong conviction in a poet songwriter... Strong poetry, by the way. Let's sing Garfunkel everywhere we go... Transition travelers.🎼🎶🎼🐇💧🐇😷🐝☄️🌟✨
This has been an absolutely Majestic performance.. Just breathtaking! Artie is a totally unique talent and such a wonderful person.. Thank you for this.. Lary
this is absolutely brilliant, with brilliant songs, gentle and profound. While listening I've had waves of tears and réalisations around the whole thing, music, life and so on. I felt that how they all play together, and the songs, the lyrics of them express something so strong and really precious, what I consider one of the greatest strength that one can express, which sadly we don't see often enough in such a world which has people close down and in a perpetual defensive state, that strength being vulnerability. And the songs have a lot of this vulnerability that I write about, you know, being stripped of all that keeps one safe and just freely opening up, humbly as they are, and I see this a lot in Art's music and it inspires me a lot and it reminds me of phases in which I easily open up which I want to back to
I feel much of the same mesmerization at this new music as I did the first time I heard "Sounds Of Silence". The beauty of the harmonies blend with the beauty of the lyrics which blend with the melodies. Absolutely Gorgeous!
His voice is like liquid velvet floating around in magic swirls, seducing the mind. For me he was Simon and Garfunkel as for me his voice was the thing most important to my ears.
Apart from your own sappy imagery, to suggest he was effectively what made Simon and Garfunkel is just silly. His career died. Paul Simon's flourished.
for years, I believed that "Simon & Garfunkel" was 80% Simon and 20% Garfunkel. I was never so wrong about a subject!! WOW!!! What beautiful harmonies without Simon!! Paul may have written the songs, but Artie was pretty well, "The Sound".
Frieda Adkins Please do a search for hearing and seeing Art Garfunkel and Tab Laven last week in Tel Aviv, Israel and I guess you might be blown away. Indeed: the difference of singing nowadays from these former partners is not to be compared with each other. Paul Simon found his own way touring with Sting and Art also at last found also his way by touring around the world with Tab Laven and - sometimes - his son James (Art) Garfunkel Jr.who also has a wonderful voice!
Well said. PS is a pretty amazing singer/song-writer, but he wouldn't ever have gained traction without Art, and his absolutely perfect vocal chops. AG's voice *sold* every song PS wrote.
I wish Art and Paul could have not allowed their egos to come between their making music together. Art needed to face the fact that Paul was the truly gifted writer, plain and simple. Paul needed to remind himself that Art's voice produced something so unique that no one else could have contributed, and that Paul's songs were better because of Art's additional vocals. Two egos clashing between them to the point they don't really communicate now. What a shame. I wonder how many other iconic songs would have been collaborated between them if they had just swallowed their egos a bit more and showed each other more respect. Near perfect harmony in singing , not much harmony outside of that.
Both of them are Blessed from Our Creator. Art was a student of Architecture at Columbia, Paul a gifted musician, etc. God found a way for them to be United to ...proclaim ..The Glory of The Lord! God is ALIVE !!! Thank God I AM American!
Art's book, "Still Water" is on my book shelf and I've read it through a couple times. Six years later he is still touring ... and I hope one day to see him live.
LoveAndPeaceOccurs I’ve been a lucky woman. I was in the gift shop at Victoria and Albert Museum in London and saw Artie. I spoke to him for a few minutes. He seemed very interested in my research at the V and A. He said he was in London working on the music for Watership Down movie. A few years later he passed through my town on tour and I went to hear him. He had his wife and son with him. I thought about how I had him all to myself for a few magic moments once in a gift shop buying postcards. His voice is so beautiful and he is a kind man.
Are the songs sung here on an album? They are absolutely incredible together on this program., fine, fine vocals and musicians playing guitars. Extremely impressed!
In my excitement, I didn't mention it's "The Kid" I'm speaking of. It holds even more meaning for me now, as i'm expecting my first grandchild, a boy. Lost in Art's voice, the story, the melodies.
Listening to this, I was thinking of Cry, Cry, Cry & then they do one of the songs Lucy covers on the album. Probably it was that song I was thinking of.
Much as I adore Art's magnificent, angelic voice, I really think some of his solo recordings just doesn't do justice to his beautiful voice. Probably the wrong songs? Then again, who am I... What do I know? I'm just an adoring fan for life.
This opened me up to a new perspective on Art (viewed in 2022). No disrespect to Paul, but the impression I had of the two was previously a bit one-side.
Paul Simon has flourished. His musical career has consistently been impactful. I'm glad they moved on. Garfunkel's continued presence would have made the sound dull and repetitive.
Nothing lasts forever. They were great together and I‘m happy to have seen them on their reunion tour. It’s more than 50 years ago that they split and I‘m pretty sure people would have gotten tired of 50 years of two voice harmony. The split would have come sooner or later. I think the fact that they had been working together only for a few years is what made them so precious. Nevertheless they had to move on. Paul continued to write music and for me songs like American Tune, Kodachrome and me and Julio were the perfect continuation of the S&G career. Paul has retired from touring but still is writing music.
Does anyone have any info on this music and whether it was recorded? I've looked online trying to find if this group goes under a name as a band or is it just Art Garfunkel and when I look up Art Garfunkel All I get is references to him and Paul Simon but nothing about this music.

It is good music but is definitely missing that certain magical something that most of Paul’s songs have. I like it much better than Art’s other solo works. But in the end it is just a nice song without a deeper message. Nevertheless it is a pity that it failed the charts.
Art have you ever heard of Alabama Angels Among us ,by a Tim Foust and A Cappella and Chris Rupp on you tub if you havent could you please listen to then as I think theres boys will be right up your street.
Barf! These are Terrible songs. How can you compare these to the solo songs of Paul Simon? Like: Me and Julio Down By The Schoolyard, Late In The Evening, Mother And Child Reunion, 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover, Still Crazy After All These Years, You Can Call Me Al, Loves Me Like A Rock, Graceland, Diamonds On The Souls of Her Shoes, Kodachrome, Slip Sliding Away and My Little Town (which Paul wrote specifically for Art) The best thing for Paul was breaking up with Art because he would never have liked the above songs and would have given Paul a hard time about recording them. 😢
Sorry Ken Paulson, the jury came back a long time ago, the greatest pop duo , perhaps the greatest vocal duo of all time, is Don and Phil Everly. The ones who inspired Art and Paul.
Artists like these people exude humility. Utter 😊 delight.
Art Garfunkel has an angelic voice. He has made life sooo much more enjoyable for soo many. Genius! Beautiful! and soo talented. And what a genuine and nice man. Simply a great interview.

Wow 🤩! A beautiful comment !.... indeed !👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Love Arty. Lovely new songs with your new fellow musicians xox
I've been wanting to see Art sing this live for EVER. Perfection. I love this man, for the hours of joy he's given through his music.

breathtaking ...stillness... motionless. How i would love to see this man and any of these musicians in concert.
Janewomanpower If only..
This man. Art Garfunkel is the whole package. Love him always.
So interesting watching Artie's eyes, the way he looks around him, very present.
I'm looking at the other comments... and seeing that these are generally from many years ago. I had never seen an interview with Art, but am astounded by his intelligence as well as how eloquent and kind he was.
Where's the music like this in 2022 for my 10yo child to be carried off by? So beautiful
Two great Songs..Thanks for sharing!
It has that same beautiful feel simon and garfunkel had... I love it!

Maggie, I enjoyed your comment. You've captured in a sentence a sound of silence. Just wanted to say I appreciated it.
Hey Maggie are you still with us? Hope so and hope you're still listening.
Okay. That was weird.
I have to agree. One of my favourite songs by Artie is Scissors Cut
I do think Maggie Reeves's with us still, Today I also like to listen to Garfunkel his songs even more!
As very good music. Simon and Garfunkel music has always been great. I feel lucky to have found this on You Tube.
What a gift..an acidental discovery,, a brilliant re-connection with the awesome soulful voice of Art Garfunkel.
Perfect

Simply superb, thank you, Mr. Garfunkel, and company....
OMG this is beautiful. You truly are the master at weaving magical sounds to bathe our hearts and souls. This must be what heaven sounds like!
One word 'Magnificent' and he has always been so since the early 60s when I first heard him (them). Thanks
I love Art Garfunkel.
Beautiful harmonies. I’d somehow missed this album and this interview brought me to it. Great interview and an even better album!!!!
They are LOVED from Above. God is Alive! Come On People, wake up and see the Light. The Children of David and Our Lord, are Blessed!

Again, Art spins gold with a "Perfect Song".
Love it.
Art Garkunkel.

Great bunch of musicians. Joy to hear them.
One of da best singers in the world 🌎👏👏👏👍👍👍
There’s a reason why Paul Simon was the writer and composer of the duo and Art Garfunkel was always just a singer next to Paul Simon!
I first heard Art and Paul in 1965 and flipped out. It was too beautiful to be real but it was.
Amazing performance!! Wow, now I desperately need to hear the album!!
Beautiful singing!😊
What an amazing treat! and to think i am not a fan of the WWW.... not this time.... tears streaming... thank you.

Art has a fabulous voice!
We’ve got some great guitar pickers here
Listening to this, I was thinking of Cry, Cry, Cry & then they do one of the songs Lucy covers on the album. Probably it was that song I was thinking of.
Awesome music.
Beautiful, a pleasure, and inspiring. Anyone combining poetry and music - to me, that's... (I'm a little biased when it comes to that)
Très beau ❤❤
Gallagher and Lyle worth mentioning.. 15 summers and others.
Wow, Buddy sounds like Paul Simon when talking

Is the title of the 2nd song they sing here, "Everything waits to be noticed"? It is so beautiful. Thank You to All for the songs here.
This is music
8:45 perfect moment in time
All of these songs sound /just like S&G which is a good thing.
Wow...

This opened me up to a new perspective on Art (viewed in 2022). No disrespect to Paul, but the impression I had of the two was previously a bit one-side.
this is nice. but i'm leaning towards Rumble because youtube stopped putting the date on.
I sure wish Simon and Garfunkle had never broken up. Their songs were so much better.
Paul Simon has flourished. His musical career has consistently been impactful. I'm glad they moved on. Garfunkel's continued presence would have made the sound dull and repetitive.

What's the album called? Is it Still Within the Sound of My Voice ?
I believe it's "Everything Waits To Be Noticed", from 2002. This must be an old clip.
Does anyone have any info on this music and whether it was recorded? I've looked online trying to find if this group goes under a name as a band or is it just Art Garfunkel and when I look up Art Garfunkel All I get is references to him and Paul Simon but nothing about this music.
try clicking the "learn more" link in the description below the video. I haven't but its probably a good start.
Which year ?........2003 .
Anyone know the guitar tuning ?
Hi! I'm just an amateur and to me it looked like he was not playing in any special open tuning, although I might be wrong. It seemed he was playing in standard tuning in the key of C, yet it seemed long ago with my terrible attempt to sing "Kathy's Song" it was written in the key of D only I play by ear and that was many years ago... so I might be wrong and it was written in C. Beautiful guitar playing too and feel they should have introduced him too.
In a way it's a shame it took Art Garfunkel so long to take up songwriting. His stuff is good.
Paul Simon lives on in these songs.
No. Paul Simon lives on in HIS SONGS.
It is good music but is definitely missing that certain magical something that most of Paul’s songs have. I like it much better than Art’s other solo works. But in the end it is just a nice song without a deeper message. Nevertheless it is a pity that it failed the charts.

Two people are walking around without a soul...?
beautiful but all songs sound the same , with simon never happen , every song had his own personality , i prefer garfunkel is nicer anyway as a person
A far better group today with a strong S&G vibe is Darlingside.
Why is the sound out of phase? Makes listening very nerve krecking.
Barf! These are
Terrible songs.
How can you compare these to the solo songs of Paul Simon? Like:
Me and Julio Down By The Schoolyard, Late In The Evening, Mother And Child Reunion, 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover, Still Crazy After All These Years, You Can Call Me Al, Loves Me Like A Rock, Graceland, Diamonds On The Souls of Her Shoes, Kodachrome, Slip Sliding Away and My Little Town (which Paul wrote specifically for Art)
The best thing for Paul was breaking up with Art because he would never have liked the above songs and would have given Paul a hard time about recording them.
😢
sounds like Paul Simon's songs, but nothing to do with them
Yes, and no
Nope. Garfunkel is shallow, cliche and sentimental.
Sorry Ken Paulson, the jury came back a long time ago, the greatest pop duo , perhaps the greatest vocal duo of all time, is Don and Phil Everly. The ones who inspired Art and Paul.
