Huh. That actually makes a lot of sense. In my life, I have had a lot of brain damage due to my chemotherapy, radiation treatments, and loss of oxygen due to heart failure. However, as I have been reading and reclaiming my witchcraft practice I do feel as if my brain function is improving. For example, I did a ritual with my friend the other week and when I cast the circle, I felt like something was missing. I hadn’t tried to cast a circle or lead a ritual since 2015. I figured out that I missed a lot of steps 😂 But once I realized what I did and didn’t do correctly, I was able to write a better way to cast a circle than I ever had. I did not know that new neurons could grow in our brain as we aged. I thought that in actuality we lost more neurons as we aged. Obviously, my thinking was not true. This is why I love your channel! You make me think about new and different things! I think I’ll go back to Jason Miller’s Protection and Reversal Magic and try at least one thing. Than, you for this video! 🌞🌞🌞

You are actually correct, there! We do lose neurons as we age and we definitely don't grow neurons as fast as we did when we were younger. But we can choose to speed up the growing process if we want to! Neurogenesis is so cool. You can also grow new neurons with physical exercise, intermittent fasting, and a couple other ways too. I'm so sorry you've had to go through so much in your life. You are definitely a tough human! ❤️

Look into Lucid Dreaming. There's misconceptions about it. It's simply the first layer of perception as you begin the process of stepping out of your body. It happens in NDE (near death experiences) when people see and interact with the world as their subconscious emotions expect it to be after death. It's also what people interact with "drunkenly" while tripping on hallucinogenic substances. In a Lucid Dream you see it clearly and can proactively take steps to control your experiences and interactions. After practicing Lucid Dreaming and facing your fears, you arrive at the next step within the process of a controlled true OBE (out of body experience aka astral projection). In this step you meet yourself - the subconscious architect of your dreams. This is a limited version of your higher spiritual mind. You can use its power, its.. energy to focus your human bodily functions towards completion of a particular task - like healing very quickly, for example, or for neurogenesis and growing new brain cells and neurons. It controls your bodily functions on a subconscious level, including your lymphatic system which has the interstitial nervous system's fluid within its control. This is what transfers spiritual energy into and throughout your body.
There's a second option. There are exercises within Nei Qi Gong taught by by Jiaoshi Andrea which can help you to learn how to control these processes without Lucid Dreaming. He is a chaos magick practitioner, but he is still unware of the fact that he is. We all have our own unique path, and that's as it should be. He cares not about his ego. He only cares about practical results, and he won't train someone who thinks they are god - too much ego. I recommend looking at qi demonstrations by Jiaoshi's teacher Shifu Zhou if you have concerns about the practical legitimacy of the training. His students learn at their own pace to achieve results, not just some silly pie in the sky nonsense. Many "masters" were previously sworn to secrecy and only revealed a portion of the information held by secretive Chinese Mystery Schools which focused on healing and medicine. Jiaoshi has been given special permission to teach westerners, but you'll have to meet him eventually at a seminar or arrange an in-person meeting somewhere to get permission to receive the final instruction of the practice and be fully initiated. Nevertheless, you can achieve practical results before you get to that point, and it takes months for most people - not a lifetime. I'd liken the exercises to tai chi. It's mostly a breathing and meditative practice that conditions your body into alignment to allow your chi/qi/ki/vril/spiritual-energy to be used intuitively, like muscle memory.

While I don't really have much experience specifically with chaos magic, as I am much more of an eclectic witch (currently anyway), I have had a bit of education on neuroplasticity and so what you're describing, these overlapping worlds, makes perfect sense. Especially considering, if I'm understanding correctly, that the various viewpoints and practices within chaos magic are so vastly different, oppositional even, and it's really the "error" message that happens in our brain when we're trying something new and we're not good at it, that creates the most plasticity. Exposure to new concepts, making lots of mistakes, etc.. forces our brain to get nimble and being unfamiliar with something becomes the familiarity. I'm not a big fan of being shitty at something but I absolutely recognize tenacity to move past that point, and to practice and continue trying new things has a immeasurable benefits in so many facets of life. Question-does chaos magic mess with your intuition at all? If you're making yourself believe something that does not inherently feel correct (at first), i'm not sure I understand how it doesn't short-circuit your intuition. Or does it just make it that much deeper and that's part of the practice? Hopefully this made at least a little bit of sense 😂

    • @IvyTheOccultist
      @IvyTheOccultist  Před rokem +12

I love what you said about neuroplasticity! Hmm... To answer your question, I really had to think about this for a while. Reflecting on my practice, I really do let my intuition guide me with whatever I do. And I actually find chaos magick to work well with an intuitive-based practice because it's about doing what works best for the magical practitioner and bending the rules in our favor. My intuition guides everything I do! Although, I will say... When I am paradigm shifting into something that feels uncomfortable for me, I acknowledge that its going to feel uncomfortable for a short period of time. And during that phase of discomfort, I am able to "fake it until I make it." I suppose that could interfere with someone's intuition but I don't find that it really affects me that much. Maybe I'm just so used to discomfort now that it doesn't phase me 😂 I need to think about this for a while longer!

My IQ was 58 as a child meaning I had some mental retardation and considerable learning disabilities. Struggled all my life with school, having to take tutoring throughout school and also in the university.
Took test again at 26 got 60. At 31 tested again got 59. Took IQ test again last week at 40 years old and got 120 which is considered above average or intelligent and bright individual. I felt a change in my brain in a way like you. I exposed myself to academics and philosophy which pushes the use of reflection, logic, analysis of complex systems and ideas and different view points or viewing the same thing through different lenses. At this time I had also made a spell using quantum magic, mixed with some other things and the activation of a Solomon seal to acquire understanding which is the essence of learning. Afterwards I took action. I exposed myself to hardcore academics. It took 3 years of not understanding most of what I was reading or watching. At 36 I felt a change in processing speed and understanding. Could study complex things and understand most of it. I took deep into philosophy and ideas and Jungian psychoanalysis into practice. I went through a few massive existential crisis that transformed me. I also took Amanita Muscaria to speed Neuro connections and neurogenesis which set my brain on steroids. I researched deeply about the sacred mushroom Amanita as I also did researching the science of learning from a neuroscience perspective. The Father of AI Geoffrey Hiton created AI through trying to lear how the brain learns🌼

This is simply amazing. You've put into words something I've felt at my core ever since I was a child. I used to get into arguments with my mother at a very young age because I questioned everyone and everything, including her religious and spiritual practices. I always found things that were contradictory intriguing and strive to understand the differences and similarities. I feel there is soooo much we can learn from every avenue and walk of life. And while I wouldn't have called it chaos magick at the time, as I wasn't using it for an intended working but rather pure curiosity and some visceral drive to learn, I've done this my whole life. The paradigm shifting and jumping. Shape-shifting in particular always fascinated me. Now that I am a practitioner of various forms of magick, it only felt natural to explore everything. Recently, I was diagnosed with ADHD, so I attributed a lot of it to that. I'm not sure about the neuroscience of that possible connection, just worth mentioning as this is a common theme I've noticed in that community. And I did reach a point as a teenager where I realized I learned *how* to learn and how I learn the best way for me. It was a powerful moment and since then have experienced what you described, that comfort in unfamiliarity and increase in creativity and out-of-the-box thinking. I just found it incredible that you were able to name something that's always been there for me but could never really put a finger on! Thank you! 😄

It sounds to me that what you are talking about is unbidled creativity coupled with awakening. Magick is a path of self discovery and leveraging creativity, visualization, and trance to achieve achemy within (theurgy) and without (thaumaturgy).
I have noticed that my magickal practice has blossomed over the last 3 months or so. I can visualize so much better, and I have achieved great results. I never get bored with the formulae because I can use my minds eyes to plumb anything and anywhere I can imagine.

I’ve noticed that for the last several years I have been having a difficult time expressing my thoughts (and also completely losing my train of thought) when having a conversation with someone. The example you gave about a “sedentary” lifestyle really hit the nail on the head for me. I’ve always been pretty shy and introverted, but I would try and force myself into jobs where I had to interact with people all day (I.e retail). I was also in school full time so I was constantly reading, learning and interacting. Over the last several years my life has taken a total turn- it’s become more sedentary in the sense that I work from home, i have a very “autopilot “ job, and Im in a new city where I don’t know many people. I feel like I’ve gotten… dumb?? 😅 I’ve been trying to read more, and continue to learn and interact b/c that is definitely one of the ways we keep our brains happy and nourished.

Yes. In one of your previous videos you talked about endless ideas . I too am afflicted with endless ideas and analysis paralysis of them. I will execute three or more projects simultaneously and 12 other things in my life then hit a block then shift again. I used to think this was a personality trait due to numerology and / or astrology. Then I noticed that the more abstract I became with my astral work and the spirit work in general , the quicker it was to shift out of “ blocks” which weren’t in my ideas just stagnancy in flow cause…. I was adding my new ideas on to the running ones and constantly tweaking and adjusting .
Mental flexibility in creativity is in my opinion an integral tread if not an eventual result in chaos magik period.
So yeah , I get it I’ve felt it and I think your personal gnosis is pretty spot on . There is a theory that the oversoul divides itself into a wealth of perspectives ( souls) to expand its experiences and know itself. If we are the divine within and without then I guess on a microcosmic level we do the same . No? Why not?

I love all the scientific stuff. As a med student, this is how it goes, as far as I know: Neurogenesis is a thing, however the ratio at which it occurs doesn't compensate the amount of lost neurons in general, far less dedicate to creating new pathways. So what's the difference between having an active mind and doing mental exercise and be braindead in front of the TV all day? We all know that's real bad for you. See, new neurons aren't created that often, what you're doing is really about 'exercising' your existent ones. So to make this short I'll go straight to the point, neurons can be covered by myelin, which basicvally speeds up significantly the transmission of impulses. When a neuron isn't often stimulated, it doesn't develop a myelin layer, however, when a pathway is often used it develops myelin, basically making it faster and more efficient. So, what we're doing when exercising the mind is not really generating more neurons, but rather making the ones we have more agile and efficient, and at that yup, boy do I think chaos magic is one of the things that breaks my mind (in a good way tho) the most lol🤪

I think you really might be on to something here. I was diagnosed w/ MS in 2022, but since my spiritual awakening under a year ago, I've already had profound & magical changes in my abstraction, creativity, artistic abilities, & even physical coordination. I don't identify as a Chaos Magician, but have always sort of recognized a very similar flavor to the sort of eclectic & intuitive-perennialist take on Classical pagan mysticism that I towards. That said, I am usually honored to perform a spiritual ritual from almost any tradition, as long as it's done w/ positive intentions. Instead of "shifting" my perspective, necessarily, I'm just constantly trying to expand it enough to be able to immediately recognize how a differing-often seemingly opposing-metaphysical &/or spiritual tradition, can always be interpreted in a way that fits right into my overall worldview. Good video.

Okay, so I was never stupid as kid, just slow to catch on. Somewhere in my mid teenage years I found out about all kinds of mysticism, spiritual practices, religious, everything esoteric, and it fascinated me. That lead me to psychology and philosophy, and I kept going down rabbit holes. It was like the more I opened up and let my imagination run wild and embrace things to try to get a new perspective, the easier it was for me to learn. I started looking at things from so many different angles. Things I learned out of pure curiosity that I thought would have no value, I find coming back to me in useful ways in my 30’s. I’m now able to either teach myself skills or learn very easily. Once I started adopting different practices into my life I noticed more changes. I never actually believed in anything occult or witchcraft related, yet found myself and still find myself doing all of this stuff. Have an awesome alter that I’m still adding to, all kinds of tools, charms, stones, talismans…Idk it’s like here in 3d mundane life it has zero effect directly, but it’s like I believe it on a subconscious spiritual level and tapping into that energy or whatever gives me a certain clarity to help navigate through this physical realm. Its a contradiction in a way. I believe in ghosts and the paranormal and stuff, I’ve had weird experiences. I known there are layers to reality, but idk how they’re connected and I do nothing but research and educate myself in hopes I’ll learn more. I dont think I’ll ever actually have the answer, but the more I learn, the more clear every layer of reality becomes. Idk if any of that makes sense. I just came out about my beliefs to my wife (hence the alter building/adding). She accepts and embraces it and is trying to learn. I never actually realized how far I’ve come on this journey until I actually tried explaining things to another person for the first time. I dont even know where to begin. She’s trying, she doesn’t get it all , but she sees how passionate I am about this and how it positively effects my life and is encouraging me to keep diving head first into it. I started doing it openly now and I finally understand a lot of what I’ve been doing is chaos magic. I always just called it being into the occult and spiritualism and avoiding organized religions of Any kind as I grew up Catholic and part of the church. If it was anything but their brand of catholicism, it must be the devil. In think that’s what pushed me down this route. Turns out the “devil/satan” stuff I was warned about was far more eye opening and open minded. Like I sleep with a magic wand. Do I believe it actually does anything? No. But if I put myself in the right mindset it does, and who can realistically prove me wrong? The only way to fond out is by doing.

I think I'd like to add to your thinking a little, because when we're talking neurons, it's not just about the number of new cells, but about axon/dendrite connections. When we have new thoughts, we create new connections, and with more complex connectivity, our brains become more efficient. At least that's how i think of it!

I'm not a chaos magician, but I completely relate to what you're saying. I have always been super interested in witchcraft, but I didn't start practicing until three years ago. At the same time, I've always been very logical in my thinking, very scientific. I'm very much a person two type, I love learning and thinking and have always been super creative in my approach to problem solving, too. I also always dismissed my sensory experiences of things because they weren't scientifically verifiable. When I started to practice witchcraft, learning was easy but recently I've felt myself like... Kind of like you described, like my brain was on fire with creativity, ideas and solutions. Practicing witchcraft and trusting my sensory experiences has led me to believe in things I would have dismissed previously, and it feels like the more I trust my experiences along with my ability to like learn, or understand... idk, the more personal gnosis I experience, the more that I feel like my cerebral way of being is expanding.. if that makes any kind of sense. Great little video, Ivy! Your excitement is contagious. I have had such a similar experience with Chaos Magick, but I never knew how to verbalize it. I felt what you were describing when I first threw myself into occult study and practice. After some time I fell out of regular practice and sorta gave up on my magickal pursuits. Later down the line I decided to challenge myself by learning something I thought I could never ever understand, basic Electronics and circuit design. I went full stream into it and came a long way past my goals. During that time I felt this same feeling I had in my brain that I did with chaos magick. At the time it was just a fleeting thought but watching this brought back a flood of memories and general excitement. I think you are spot on about neurogensis! I've tried to describe it before and gotten funny looks. So its just great to hear your story and feel some validation. :)

Ever since, my vibration is definitely higher. I have always been extremely creative, when my gears in my brain start going, they don’t stop. And I come up with brilliant ideas. (Not trying to toot my own horn, just expressing what I experience.) this has amplified since learning at those classes. This makes a lot of sense.

I was taught how to crochet by my co worker, back in 2019 and within a few months I was putting out quite a few lap blankets, since then I've made different things. But my point is, I have always been slow to learn new things in the past. But, not so much now. I've had jobs where I had to learn a whole new set of skills, and I was surprised at myself as well as my new boss, how well I adapted to all my new tasks. I am currently in school, to change my career. And while I have moments of difficulty, cause I'm going about it alone, and on line. Yeah, you just described what happens to your brain when you assume different world views or learn something new. Your brain changes all the time. By assuming different world views or personas, these changes are accelerated tremendously. That‘s why - in my opinion - it‘s super important to take one step at a time in this craft and have certain measures in place to assure you don‘t fry your brain along the way. In a way, that‘s what all that protective Magick is for, when you look at it from a psychological and neurological point of view: Keeping the ‚dark Demons’ away has a lot to do with mental illnesses. Mind you, thinking about protection all the time can also cause anxiety and paranoia, which, in turn are basically these shadows creeping in. It all comes back to keeping a good balance and taking not more on than you can carry. Know your boundaries and limitations.
But yes. This neurological perspective makes for a gigantic portion of what we can scientifically explain about Magick. Well observed.
    Love your videos! 🍀

I've experienced this. You know how Edward Cullen from twilight is able to catch the apple when it falls? I've gotten pretty proficient at moving past the initial "oh shit and scramble" part and just start to catch things mid fall. I can organize things so meticulously it might even rival Marie condo tbh. Be careful though, my word of caution, neuro genesis can become like how some Huskies who just "understand" a little too much and end up having to be put down because the go kinda loopy. I read somewhere once "the more we understand the universe the more the brain is gonna try to destroy itself." Ona similar tangent, in Lucy movie when she starts to unlock the capacity of the brain "at 15% barriers are broken down and the brain capacity just starts to add up naturally". When you start speaking directly to your midichlorians, the very cells that make up your body, the atoms that make up those cells and smaller, watch out for organ sentience. My stomach talks sometimes. Certain regions of the brain, I've spent years reminding them that they may be of my body but I'm the one who's living this life, without me they are dead. It started as funny thoughts when I would edit youtube videos. I dont do mean now.

There is a lot to unpack here. It might be beneficial to look into getting a spiritual coach to work through some of the deep brainwashing from religious trauma. It can be really tough. ❤️ Speaking from personal experience, it's tough! There is a lot of "fear-based" beliefs in Abrahamic religions and I find that's the first thing to deconstruct. We are taught to fear spirits, to fear the thought of going to hell, to fear the wrath of God. My first question is... Why do you even want to banish spirits in the first place? In my experience, most spirits I have interacted with have no interest in humans anyways. Most of them are lovely to have around. Sometimes I'll get a trickster here and there that likes to misplace my keys. But other than that, in all the years I have been working with spirits, I have only maybe ever had 1 or 2 bad interactions. And that was because I stepped into their territory. I think many people are taught to fear all spirits but most of them don't even care about us boring humans anyways 😂

From my limited knowledge on the topic of spirits, I do not see why it couldn’t be possible, but at the same time then why are there not more people walking around claiming to be deific avatars?

Hahaha I suppose I might be one of those people that thinks they can be a vessel for god-like energy, but I don't think I am the same as those obnoxious people you are referring to 😂 I think we can all be vessels for god-like energy but I don't think one human can contain an entire god's essence. The whole "I am Jesus for Odin" thing basically insinuates that no one else can be Odin's Jesus because they are the chosen one. This mentality of being the "chosen one" gets really old... But if we are talking about the ability for anyone to invoke god-like power, then I am all for it!

I gotta say, loved the video, but when you talk about neurogenesis, i fear you mean simple brain function. Neurons are really complex cells, and the idea that we do not grow new ones is justified. During growth, we do produce more, but as we age, neuron genesis drops right next to zero. Simple intellectual exercise can manifest in the ways you mentioned. That's my only point. Thank you for the video!

Thank you for this! I always want to make sure I am giving accurate information. The topic of neurogenesis (and us being able to grow new neurons as an adult) seems to be a very controversial topic among scientists because it's hard to quantify. We used to believe that there was no possible way adult brains could grow new neurons, but some more recent studies have been really promising! I pinned a comment with a link to an article from the National Institute of Neurological Disorders that discusses neurogenesis a bit further. I don't think we have all the answers yet but it certainly looks like a possibility!

It's seems to be that you are crying out for attention. Your brainwaves are confused and I am guessing your looking to solve your confusion by trying to impress those who you can influence on CZcams. Chaos is infact the lack of a understanding any given probllem. The lack of understanding or putting forward a reasonable explanation. This creates confusion not to those who understand but who don't. Creating chaos by lack of understanding would and is only amoung those that are ignorant of such facts and want in on something , or by those wishing to sound cleaver by parroting on as if they already know something. Experience of the dark arts magic and other matters is experienced and the language for those experiences can be very difficult to verbulise. I do think you have read to many books.

There are so many other ways you could have worded this to give constructive criticism. I would have gladly been open to a discussion. I am not so attached to my own ego that I am unwilling to consider if/when I am wrong. A discussion between the two of us on our differing opinions would have been great. But instead of opening up a dialogue, you decided to be condescending and rude. How is this a cry for attention exactly? And oh yes, I'm sure you have all the answers for how chaos works as well. You are the authority figure here, correct? 😂 Take your trolling somewhere else.

I don't recommend chaos Magick to anyone under twenty five bc the brain is still developing. My numbers aren't exact so don't be a grammar Nazi to ignore this point. Especially if your family has a history of mental illness be careful. One love✌️❤️😎

Not a chaos magician, in fact I consider myself pretty far from it. I have experienced this and feel as though I am experiencing this right now. I do believe that magic is good for the brain when done properly and I think you can get this benefit through various approaches to magic.

Explained well. If you discover that try and layer it into your timeline and find the spiritual blueprint. That way you can break cycles and aid your spiritual twins worldwide.
