Back in the day when I used Zoroark to disguise as it as a Conk and KO whatever poor psychic type would switch in. It was fun to use.

I did this as well. The overlap in movepool (Sludge Bomb, U-turn, Dark Pulse, etc.) makes it one of the most optimal choices to keep the opponent in the dark as long as possible.

The mind games u can play with that, holy shit. My guy u could send shedinja out first and have them cry over whether to CC or not, could honestly be a free swords dance, and that’s just because zoroark is on the team, u don’t even have to use it.
comfey is one of my favourite niche pokemon to use in ou, having an interesting ability and not needing any speed to revenge kill dangerous threats like urshifu and kommo-o and other dragon types
Zoroark disguised as Gengar is super fun, because Nasty Plot + Sludge Bomb is kind of just expected from a Gengar. Also, they try using dark or psychic moves on you and they fail miserably.
Also, you have Gengar on the team so you can scarf trick walls like Pex and Mandi

QOTD: I find it really funny to disguise as something like Hippowdon or something that the opponent would want to set up their own rocks/spikes on, then just encore them and nasty plot lol

It was pretty funny to disguise it as Greninja, with your Specs Dark Pulse you could hide the fact that you were running Expert Belt Protean Greninja

@@LuizFelipe-tm2yi But the second you use a coverage move it will blow up your cover since Protean wouldn't activate. And actually it would instantly say your are Zoroark cause Protean activates on Dark Pulse making Gren pure dark type.
@@echogaia1708 Ash-Greninja dosn't use Protean! It uses Battle Bond. And the greninja version that usually uses specs is Ash-Greninja!

I used to lead specs Zoro in RU with a Vileploom in the back. They switch in a xatu or a bronzong on a specs dark pulse.

I always try to disguise Zoroark as Heracross to try to bait in Clefable, (or any other fairy type) then sludge bomb it to death. It works 2% of the time but it’s a fun occasional bait.
i really like disguising with toxicroak, it makes the opponent want to go for psychic moves which zoroark is immune to
My favorite moment with Zoroark was in ORAS and it wasnt even with its illusion. It was the last mon on my team vs his last mon; a mega scizor. Only I was running Focus sash and Counter. Obliterating a Mega Scizor with an undisguised Zoroark is up there with obliterating a Mega Ray with Wobbuffet and beating Arceus with a Raticate for me.
I used to disguise it as scarf heracross.
Lol, that's my favorite too. You can run one of them as Scarf (Moxie Hera) and the other as Flame Orb (Fling Zoro/Guts Hera) and both work really well w/ the respective opposite item teammate.
I did almost the same just switch scarf for life orb
Weedletwineedle did the same AND gave zoroark flame orb which somehow makes the opponent think it's guts heracross but it's actually scarf moxie

@Art Thou Dull If you were to disguise Zoroark as a Pokemon like Blastoise, Night Daze would blow your cover instantly, but since Blastoise gets Dark Pulse, Dark Pulse wouldn't blow your cover.

This was an amazing showcase of Zoroark. I got fooled by him just yesterday and he certainly plays a big role in mind games. Good to see you utilizing his potential so well. For me he outplayed me by showing me jirachi when it was Zoroark, I switched into my magnet pull zone and he switched out. It certainly left me with questions, I thought that was Zoroark but then he summons the actual jirachi after a double switch and fire punched me to death.
This was definitely one of my favorite teams of yours in a while. So fun!
I love hiding my zoroark as Toxicroak bc they suspect nothing when you swords dance while switching to their psychic type

I think i would try to run him with either something that he will resist when they attack it, or some that uses his coverage moves and disguises well, like a scarf arcanine with flamethrower.

Heracross + zoroark is a deadly duo in the current UU meta. Hera invites in walls like weezing and skarm, which get rocked by a specs extrasensory and flamethrower, respectively. I personally run scarf hera with moxie to attempt boosting on weakened mons that switch into zoroark.

I really think that zoroark's amazing speed special attack coverage and access to nasty plot is enough to warrant it as a solid niche ou pick, illusion isn't even needed but is super useful as well! Great video as always champ!🙂
The bigger problem is the 60/60/60 defenses. You need pheromosa offenses or something around there to cut it in ou
I remember that back in like XY when I got into comp battling, I always disguised my Zoruark as Gengar :D people were so likely to use fighting type moves, so Gengar was a really nice disguise.

I really love Comfey but damn pairing it with Zoroark is great, when I played through black version for the first time I had access to the event zoroark, I like to discuise it as a poison types or bug/Poison if I can, usually something like Scolipede or Amoongus
Oh I love this question of the day and that's an easy answer for me, Zoroark was one of the first mon I tried to build competitively and I would disguise it as Weezing because they both share some moves like flamethrower or dark pulse which will confuse your opponent even more.
Back in gen7, not that far ago, I had an Uber team with Zoroark and I would disguise it as Naganadel (for the same reasons as Weezing)
and also because your opponent will send out psychic mons to revenge kill the Weezing/Naganadel (or psychic moves) which will give Zoroark some free turns to do more shenanigans unless you get their HP messed up or do stuff that makes the illusion very easy to notice.
uh but naganadel has beast boost if u killed one with zoroark they would know. ause u didnt get boost so they wouldnt revenge with psychic unless ur sub 1200 or lower?
@@2anz611 It's just for one surprise kill, ofc I'd reveal the info after that but it doesn't really matter if I still managed to take down a potential threat from my opponent's team (or at least deal enough damage to it)
I wasn't at 1200 but tbf I wasn't that high as well since I usually don't play in the Ubers tier, definitely not above 1400 though since y'know, people start to predict a lot more by that point especially if you have Zoroark and since that mon is really frail I'd just get one kill at best and then I'd be forced to sac it at some point after

There was a time Toxicroak + Zoroark was a thing (gen 6 uu) and I apreciate the organisation of the moves you have on your pokemon like stab first, coverage second, status move last

ayyy zoroark is one of my all time favs 🖤 i used to disguise it as gengar most frequently (used SD so i could deal with stuff like ttar & chansey better) but i found the best results with mega medicham (used specs). it often felt like they had one turn to guess correctly and doing like 60% to normal medicham responses like zapdos/lando could really impact the flow of the game

This zoroark comfey combo works surprisingly well!
Lesser known heat set that I use is physical scarf zoroark with knock off, u-turn, trick, and low kick/flamethrower for coverage. Can easily gimp fast ghost types like dragapult, or 2 hit ko aegislash shield form. U- turn helps momentum and confuses opponents even more. Trick gimps walls by giving them a scarf, and coverage move for whatever meta there is. STAB knock off with over 500 speed is just too good.

Toxicroak and zoroark are super fun, they also pass off as each other since they have similar move pools (swords dance, plot, pulse, sludge bomb)

My favorite is to disguise Zoroark as Gengar. Immune to fighting moves and both can Nasty Plot; so without entry hazards it can be hard to tell which one is on the field.
I ran it with Thundurus-T back in 5th gen because 3 potential nasty plotters with 3 different immunities and volt turn was so much fun to abuse.
Necrostevo up to gen 6 that was such a strat, but now I feel its even better because both take same percentage

Would be cool to see this with a Swords Dance bluff since Zoroark can be physical too
Also be careful about Rhyperior against volc as it can have giga drain and a surprising amount of people have it on volc to help it deal with chipped down bulky waters
Gengar had excellent disguise synergy with zoaroark back in the day. I guess its neat both have nasty plot
I find zoroark’s best disguises to be mons that share a similar movepool as well as covering up zoroarks immunities. Gengar and Crobat are two of my favorites.

I loved using Illusion with Tapu Lele last gen because most people would send in ghost or steel type mons which Zoroark could easily handle with dark moves and fire type coverage :)

Conkeldurr was my favorite back when i used Zoroark in gen 5. That's when i was first learning competitive pokemon, and honestly its probably the smartest combo on my team at the time lol.
Since then, my favorite strats involve disguising myself as pokemon that look like they should get the moves my zoroark has, but they dont actually. Like a pokemon that looks like it should get nasty plot, but doesnt. Etc. It's entertaining to leave those little breadcrumbs that experienced players will either pick up on or make them second guess their knowledge.
A friend disguised its Zoroark as a Flame Orb Heracross. But its Heracross was scarf lol
I love it as conk. Trick the flame orb on to anyone you want and they'll never see it coming.
