- the 2030 Service Boot. built on the 2030 last, is Viberg's most popular boot model for good reason. This Canadian made boot brand takes their construction out of the American PNW boot playbook. They are built tough. Rugged and yet Refined. They have a classy, sleek, stylish, timeless look without too many frills. Viberg essentially brought the heritage/service boot style back into demand in the early 2010s and it continues today.
I initially thought they would be too dressy for me but their large fan base took my curiosity to the next level. I had to see if they lived up to their great reputation and they do. A great, strong, comfortable boot. Although mine were bought slightly used, I could tell they were finished flawlessly.. with a quality control level that White's only wishes they had to that high standard.
The price of these is a little bit overbearing I must admit. Still,, I had to see why they are considered the quintessential 'service boot'.. I also compare them with my White's MP boots.

I like you video. Last October I went nuts and 4 pairs of Viberg's and a fifth pair I bought in December. One is an olive green in a maryam horsebutt leather with a ridgeway sole and plain toe, the other 4 are in each of the chrome excel colours. The natural, brown, and black cxl I bought through Brooklyn clothing and thus come with a plain cap toe. The colour 8 I bought through Rivet and Hide and is plain toe.
Viberg custom makes their chrome excel 2030 boots for Brooklyn and the only real change is that they put a plain cap toe on them and brogue cap toe on the colour 8. Also the colour 8 comes with a black tongue as well if you get them through brooklyn. I like the cap toe
A quick question what do you mean by a gusseted tongue?
A gussetted tongue is usually on work boots like PNW style White's boots.. it's connected all the way across the top

Initially it was made in thee 2040 and the 2030 last with thee 2040 having a brogue cap toe but when I came around to buying them they only had the 2030 plain toe or in other words no cap toe. Initially I was going to buy the olive chrome pack but when I held the olive chrome pack in my hands I didn't like. I didn't like the feel of the leather. But the horse but leather is really nice.

It's difficult to listen to this on headphones because of the stereo audio and your voice not being centered. My left ear is getting most of the sound. Might be better to just make the audio mono at that point.

@EDHBlvd i do like the flat toe more visually.. the Rancher is a soft toe and will probably flatten out more in time,,
the 310 is crazy bumped! lol,, i do have Julians Bowery boots,, I'm gonna go release a video on soon.. thats definitely a bump toe i like though.. idk,, I'm just picky i guess.. i do like the 2040 and 1035 all the same though. i def want 1 more pair of Vibergs somewhere down the road. i got Shinki Lofgrens engineers coming today, they cost me n arm and a leg so i need to chill out at some point here lol,,

That’s an older model, older last. The stitches are bigger, the heel has more of a ledge, and it’s more narrow. The sock liner should have the old logo too. Good find, some people like the bigger stitches, more rugged. The new ones use a black bottom stitch on the outsole too. That and it’s teacore, the new black cxl is dyed all the way through, it’s whack. The black will wear off over a loooong time though, on both of those boots. I have the newer 2030 btw, in brown cxl.

The older last has a very almond toe I thought.. this one is pretty rounded I feel.. I'd love another pair.. something brown, tan, or color 8.. and definitely on the 2020.. think I'll like that last even better.. thanks for watching!
@@toneohm yup, definitely the older model. I think there was an overlapping period where they incorporated the newer last, but still had the lower stitch count and everything I mentioned. Though yeah, that’s def older. Compare the stitchdown stitches to the new one, look at the heel profile, sock liner, new ones are black all the way through, the white sole stitching, the heel profile, etc. It’s as clear as day, that’s an OG model. As far as black cxl goes, I consider these more desirable.
@@Coleone139 thanks, I just watched Dale's video to see what they looked liked years n years ago.., it does seem mine are in some kind of in between period.. the inside tag looks more like the new ones.. but says Viberg Boots.. instead of just 'Viberg' ..., and it doesn't have the VB logo.. sounds like the new sock liner is ideal. cause that's my main con for these.. higher stitch count is something I like in the newer style,, but the number they put in these is also impressive.. slightly more than my Wesco's SPI,, the perfect service boot to me, would be if I could combine elements of this 2030 and my 5050 MPs.., like if I could have the 2030 last, but the with MP styling,, 2030 height n stitching.. lol idk, its hard to explain.. always looking for the perfect blend of style/class and ruggedness
@@toneohm the higher spi is overrated man, and it’ll make resoles an absolute nightmare. You did good with this pair, don’t stress it. There’s tons of brands that do that now btw, the high spi. Viberg isn’t really the end of the road, it’s an accessible introduction to high quality. I’m just saying, cause it sounds like you desire that spi lol, but you don’t have to get another Viberg to get something like that. Also yeah, the last shape looks like mine, but it’s hard to tell in videos. I’m on IG with the same name btw
