3.9 inch (1240×1080) rotating OLED display, powerful Snapdragon 888 CPU, and full metal shell. Article I wrote for Retro Dodo about the device. retrododo.com/small-universe-...
The idea is for tate mode on arcade games, but yah isn't big enough to make it a worthy feature. Switch being widescreen makes tate mode in shmups sensible, but not here.
I know right? Go hold an a original gameboy color. It's so much more comfortable and ergonomic than any of these new handhelds. It's got curves that are designed around the human hand, not sharp right angles that will cut into your human hand.
@@samgee500While that is true, the gameboy pocket from just before the color is very flat and is generally well regarding for being very comfortable to hold. However, I feel like a device like the one in the video might still be uncomfortable simply because they're cramming so many controls in a small space.
Rotating would make sense if the screen was like 640x480 4:3 (even integer of most arcade games) for tate mode but is is almost square anyways. Decent idea now just need a screen that makes sense to do it.
They show it rotating while the screen is black, so you can't even tell the difference between the two rotation. Make the screen white, show what the difference is christ sake!
The idea of rotating the screen is completely useless if it has no effect on the overall size of the device. They could have just used the whole available front area instead of just using a part of it and making it turnable, with exactly the same end result. So this whole concept is completely useless. This device will be a failure.
Why does the screen rotate? It's square
8:7 screen maybe?
31:27, and at that resolution... WTF, absolutely pointless to rotate @@Pridetoons@mrkookoo
10:9 ratio. Bizarre.

Its not Square. See the Black borders on screen.
Okay that's...funky, and i'm intrigued haha
They should make the screen longer for dual screen gaming, I hope they release a 6 face button device in the near future.
It's a really well put together video, but just like the article says: there are a lot of questionable design decisions.
Controls look *really* awkward to use. Why do these minis not have built-in grips to not purposely give us early onset arthritis? XD

I have a feeling that the new Switch will be like this device.
There's no point in a screen rotating if it's square you could just change the orientation on settings 😅
exactly. It's completely useless.
Why is there no real d pad? Instantly turned off
Needs a proper DPad. Form over Function here
Slap a 3d display, lightfield screen if the tech is there , make a sugar cube 3d
Is it android?
DOA

This device is tryingto be innovative. All I see is a mechanism that is pointless and will break in the short term.
