Have you ever visited Iceland, is it on your bucket list? Hubby and I were in Iceland for 5 days and I had a day and a half completely solo to explore Reykjavik, woo hoo! This was our first visit to Iceland, visiting in late spring, May 2022. Grab your raincoat, gloves, sunglasses and sunscreen for a lightning tour! Rainbow Street, Hallgrimskirkja church, the Grandi Mathöll harbour food hall, Bastard Brew for dinner, Reykjavik nightlife, jazz at Rúblan bókakaffi (bar and bookstore)! Thank you so much for sharing your travels! Now, that bookstore is on my bucket list. 🤣 Have wanted to visit Iceland for years.
Oh Diane! I love all of the experiences I get to see you have and feel like I am there too. Thanks for taking us along!
Magnificent! ❤
Amma is icelandic for grandmother thsnk you so much for sharing our culture❤️🇨🇦 I’m part of the world’s largest icelandic settlement in Canada 30,000 immigrated here between 1870 and 1910. This was lovely of you to share.
Reykjavik looks so lovely!
I lived there in the early 70's ... it was fantastic and am looking forward to vacationing there some day.
Looks wonderful!
Thanks Diane, great tour, what a beautiful place to visit
Tremendous experience!!!!
I love your travel posts, makes me feel like I’ve been away without leaving the comfort of our sofa! 🛫🌍🎟
Thank you for the tour and visit. I love that church. What an awesome piece of architecture! Safe travels! 🙂
What a fabulous time you had
What a fun day! So much to see! Thanks for taking us along!
Great video as always , so interesting. Love and hugs xx
Thanks for sharing your travels. 😁💐
Thankyou!!! Very beautiful.
Awesome travel tales! Thank you for sharing. Iceland is on my bucket list to experience. Loved the bookstore!! And there was the one building that was black and white and looked like it would belong in a colouring book. Thanks Diane! Be well. Stay safe!
Iceland looks fantastic and a really interesting place, thanks for sharing Diane 👍😊
Thank you for sharing your travels Diane! Iceland looks amazing! It’s now on my bucket list. 😊
Looks like a lovely and lively place to visit!
Oh that was a fantastic visit with you today! So lovely to see all the colourful buildings!! Beautiful xxx
You can practically smell the fresh air through the screen!. Gorgeous.💖
I love that you travel alone! Something I’ve never felt confident enough to do… you are so worldly Diane!! 💕
I was in Iceland with hubby (he's the one driving the car in the GullFoss Falls video czcams.com/video/SsjuNQ2YNkw/video.html ) but had a full day and a half on my own to explore 😍 I've travelled other places completely solo, I enjoy it!
@@DianeinDenmark That was a relief for me, because I really want you to have your BH with you during these wonderful adventures. It's a new life. Grab those precious minutes together.
Thank you for take us on your adventure. Loved all the colours and that book store with the live music was delightful
C'est super de pouvoir faire la découverte de cette ville avec toi, merci beaucoup 😃
Oh my goodness. How fun! Thank you for taking us along. So exciting. Did you get anything in the charity shop?
Thank you for bringing us along, Diane! I absolutely LOVED THIS! I hope you will show us more!!
Thanks, Kris! There will be another video coming but here's the playlist of what I've uploaded so far... czcams.com/play/PLxIYCyTLBED9q_vf2DVjqJ8m3evuFjG58.html
I can feel the fresh air...Beautiful video...Thank you for sharing...
Thanks for joining me, Yana!
I'm laughing out loud at the Cinco De Mayo menu! That's just great!
I, too, am thankful that you share your travels with us. This is my little way of seeing places that I probably will never be able to visit. That church was incredible!
Thanks, Lisa!
Thank you Diane. I think I have to return to this country that I love so much. Only 3h30 from Paris.
Very nice
Wow, this video made me so nostalgic! 5 years ago I went there with my son and his boychoir. He performed at many venues but my favorite was when my son sang the spiritual, Amazing Grace, as a solo in Hallgrímskirkja. Thank you for sharing your one day with us, and bringing this memory to mind.
How wonderful, Anne!
love Reykjavik, the city is small but not too small, and with enough to do (if the weather allows). The capital area is close to a quarter of a million, and interestingly has around 65% of the countries population (380.000)
I used to travel by my self also. Like going to daughters in another state.
Looks like a fun city to visit! Love the bookstore/bar. I would go nuts with the yarn shops! Did you go back to the charity shop? The best charity shop I've been in was the Salvation Army in Stavanger, Norway.
Diane, now I really understand routines. My husband is in the hospital and I’m just all confused without him around. Yesterday, I forgot to do my physical therapy exercise and my meditations.
We are more comfortable with routines and habits. Swipe and Swish really made me feel better today
I'm sorry to hear your husband is ill, Judy - take good care of yourself at this time! Sending good thoughts for his recovery!
@@DianeinDenmark thank you! He is back home today. Taking it easy.
How fun, and that weather!! I love the details you provide, I feel like I am right beside you( I wish)..thanks so much for sharing..was your hubs on business or did he do adventure by himself too? Much love from the desert AZ
I love that! Thanks for sharing. How far is Iceland from where you live?💜
Hi Lori! It's a flight of about 3 hours and 20 minutes. So quite close!
I am loving your videos here in America in Texas! You had mentioned in a previous video about a heated vest! Where did you get that, and what brand is it?
I got mine from Amazon Germany, google "heated vest", there are lots of different types! 🖐😍Here's the video where I show it! czcams.com/video/sBsp6rleRFg/video.html
Thanks doe sharing! My husband surfers from illness so we don't always travel the two of us. I olso like travelling on my one. I would go and take a nap to.😀Do you often take a nap?
Yes, I take a short nap daily! 😍
Your fellow Scotsman, Craig Ferguson used to quiz his guests on his late night show here in the States. And because he said it every night for about a year, I will always remember the capital of Iceland. He'd start every question with the same statement about Iceland followed by a non sequitur. "Iceland is in the North Atlantic. It's capital is Reykjavik. What is the name of the male lead character in the movie 'Titanic'?"
Thanks for showing us around the place. Love the buildings.
LOL! What a great story, Ellen!
Great wee video .I'm going to Reykjavik next week for 3 days on my own .First time away without my kids!
I've travelled a lot .I get the feeling Reykjavik is fairly safe for lone travellers ? Plus the weather won't bother me as I'm from N.Ireland 😅
Ha ha! Have a wonderful trip! 👋😁
Diane, you may have mentioned on FB or IG but I don't use either. Did you go here alone? It is a beautiful place! Though it does look pretty cold.
The weather changed every 5 minutes! LOL! I was in Iceland with hubby but had a full day and a half on my own. I've travelled solo before and enjoy it 😍
@@DianeinDenmark Very nice! Looks like you thoroughly enjoyed the day! Did you get back to the 2nd hand shop?
What a lovely day out you had, can I ask do you speak any Icelandic? 💕
I don't speak Icelandic but there are many similarities to Danish and Swedish so a lot I can understand/read it 😍
@@DianeinDenmark thank you for replying 💕
I call dibs on the yellow mug.
😅
did you go by yourself? My Mom often travels alone and doesn't mind it but I think I would feel awfully lonely 😮
Your Mum is awesome! I was in Iceland with hubby but had a full day and a half on my own. I've travelled solo before and enjoy it, though I wouldn't want to do more than a few days 😍
Can the Danish and Islandic people understand each other's languages to an extent since both come from Scandinavian languages?
Yes, some similarities.
But did you go to the thrift store? lol
Sadly it was closed due to staff shortages! 😄
@@DianeinDenmark That is SO sad!
Are you here by yourself???
I had a day and a half on my own while hubby was here on business, and then we did more sightseeing together 😀 I've travelled solo before and enjoy it! 😊
I was surprised at the amount of English.
