    Here we have linked repeaters that cover several citys/counties.

      You didn't say where "here" is, but yep, there's a ton of repeaters that are linked state to state. I imagine that would get confusing! Keeping 3 linked up throughout San Antonio is plenty.

      @FirstUnitedTactical  Před 18 dny +1

      @@OnAirVoice Is it true you can also talk to Atlanta? (South FL to Atl that is). Back home (Augusta, GA) they have a linked system that goes from Columbia, SC down to Augusta. That's about 80 miles. There is a guy that used to live here in SA, but moved to Ohio. Everynow and then he will link up his computer and talk to us like we are in his backyard!
      With our three repeaters, I can talk about 60-70 miles, but it's also bouncing from 1 repeater to the other and the other. That's also with a just a basic HT.

      @@FirstUnitedTactical new gmrs user , appreciate all your info and have a question, to cover more distance , can I use two overlapped repeaters at same time ? Even if they have different frequency? If yes, how to do it . Thanks

    • @FirstUnitedTactical
      @FirstUnitedTactical  Před 10 dny +1

      @@marvinrivas5415 The only way that would work is if the repeater owners have their repeaters linked up. Here in San Antonio, we have 3 or 4 that are all linked, so where ever we are, we talk to the closest repeater, and when it broadcast out, the other repeaters pick it up and then they are all broadcasting what our transmission is. So Yes, it's possible, but they have to be linked together. The only way to find out if your area is linked is to get on a local FB page if there is one, or, just start talking and ask the folks that are also on that same repeater. They will all know and tell you the specific information you are looking for.

    Hey there, good video. I’m curious what your thoughts are on the Ocean kg -Q10G radio. I will have to get that one, due to the radio having the most accessibility for blind individuals. Thanks for any assistance.

    • @FirstUnitedTactical
      @FirstUnitedTactical  Před 14 dny

      Well, I actually have a Wouxun Q10g and H. They are the most advanced radios under $250 you can buy. They come with GPS and will alert you with bad weather coming your way for one. The second top choice is that it is IP67 rated!
      I have talked on mine with stock antenna over 10 miles where others failed at 6 and 7 miles. It truly is a masterpiece. If you don't mind, use my link for BuyTwoWayRadios.com in the description.
      I am actually going to do a field test with mine this weekend with some new antennas arriving this week. There are plenty of videos out there that show off all of its characteristics, but I can tell you if you don't mind spending $229, it's well worth the investment.
      Stay tuned Monday for that video to be uploaded, as long as we have decent weather this weekend. You will truly see what the quality difference is between Wouxun and a budget $50 radio. It's night and day.

      @FirstUnitedTactical  Před 14 dny

      Sorry, but I missed the most important part of your question. Blind? That's a tough one. It is after all a radio, and I can tell you that it does not announce the channel numbers out loud if that's what you are looking for. I can tell you that it has Priority Scan, which means that if you go away from your normal (favorite) channel, and someone starts talking, it reverts back to that channel. That's a good quality. I'm sorry but I don't really know how else to describe it where someone blind would benefit.

    • @shaunteckno
      @shaunteckno Před 14 dny +1

      @@FirstUnitedTactical the q10G announces channel numbers, when you turn the channel knob. I’ve heard that demonstrated. You’re right. I don’t know of any radio that will announce the channel numbers, as it’s scanning. That would be nice if they came out with that. How do you take the stock antenna off of the Q10g, when it’s glued? Thanks for any input.

I’m selling a couple of HomePods, first generation, so I’ll be able to buy this. Again, can’t wait! This will be my first GMRS radio. I’ve been trying to explain to people the benefits of a GMRS radio over a cell phone, but I guess I’m asking, what would be your answer to the question: what are the benefits of a GMRS radio over a cell phone?

    • @FirstUnitedTactical
      @FirstUnitedTactical  Před 15 dny +1

      Hi. So with GMRS there is only one. It's always +5.000, and always on channels 23-30. You don't have to worry about the typical offsets and +/- like you do with HAM frequencies. It's simple with GMRS.
