I don't think those people are doing right things. This is not the right habitat for these ducks. You could see similar situation in the US, but the difference is in the US, these ducks usually live in a big park with very few people. They shouldn't release these ducks in such a harsh environment for them.

They absolutely should release those animals. Those are wild Ducks, they‘re supposed to live wherever they choose.

Wtf mandarin ducks moms don't care about their young.
There was a mallard duck mom with 8 duckies on a pond near my house and one of them fell down a huge drain (so huge you can walk in there with some climbing). Unfortunately it was almost dry so the duckling could not get up to the family.
The mother stayed there for a long time quacking for some help, she even came close to me as i was feeding swans and quacked at me like she wanted help.
I climbed there to get the duckling back to its mother. It took me 30min and she never tried to leave, she was there all the time waiting for its duckling.
But looking at this video the mandarin mom just walked away after almost all ducklings fell down the drain rofl

Oh...I just a heart attack when that baby bounced off ground. It makes me sad just to think about how many of them die in nature by getting stuck or falling into something 💔

Don't worry, this particular duck species is actually designed to fall of really tall cliffs and survive as babies!

Most of them make nest on the cliffs, and the chicks are forced to jump out, unfortunately only 30% survive the jumping.

She was not left behind. Too much pressure on the mother because of so many people following her. Even if you are a little far away...she realises that you could be watching her...and could harm her ducklikgs. So she tries to rush the migration. She confuses humans with predators...and had to leave to save the lives of the other ducklings.
