  • An eternal question in sim racing. Will this equipment suit me or should I spend more to get better? Even if I spend more will I ever see the benefit? The T300RS and the Fanatec CSL have always been part of this battle.
Hopefully, this video will help you out choosing.

If i recommend the mechanix? Yeah. They are pretty great. But from personal experience sweating depends on the body response to insulation. Some bodies only allow for cotton gloves. Others are ok with everything. Mechanix is an abrasion resistance worglove, so it'll have a lot of synthetic that can make you sweat a lot. I used to use another set of mechanix, the regular fastfit, and i use to sweat a lot in them. the fast multicam are slightly thicker but help more somewhat.
I mean considering the price, of a mechanix glove, it's not a huge waste of money. And considering they are work gloves, if you cant use them for simracing, you might use them in the car or in the garden (( like I use them too)
goddamn it, Is ound like a mechanix sales rep

Not going to lie i am shocked i fell for these youtube vids. Got the Fanatec becasue of all the hype. Got bad news for everyone The T300 is practically the TS PC and both of them feel and are practically the same as the Fanatec. I only noticed a big difference going from a TMX to the T300 then hardly any difference going from T300 to TS PC to the Fanatec, if your wheel is not smooth then something is wrong with your T300 or was not set up properly. I think the T300 was the most fun upgrade.

Thank you for this comparison, it is something I have been looking out for. One thing you could have mentioned is that a cheap way to improve the feel of the brake of the T3PA pedals you can put in the Conical Brake mod which greatly reduces brake locking, a common problem with potentiometer pedals. The T3PA can also have the Load Cell mod, but the Conical Brake mod is easier to do. Also I have a T300RS & an OSW Direct Drive wheel. Of course the OSW is much more powerful & gives more accurate steering feel, but the T300RS is still a very competent wheelbase. One thing is for sure, you will not become an alien by going from belt drive to direct drive. Its all about driving skill. It took me some time to get used to the OSW before I could put lap times a bit better than the T300RS.

I can give my opinion because I have both.
There is no way around. The CSL is better. Feels and drives better. It is also a lot more expensive and every time you want an upgrade, it will cost you. A lot.
The T300 I have is the Ferrari 599XX Alcantara Edition (When I bought they were offering the the manual shifts). It is a around 150€ more expensive than the normal version but worth it.
It brings a bigger and just awesome rim and the T3PA pedals. I.have to say... pound for pound I think this T300 version is the best solution on market.
Of course. If money isn't an issue. Go Fanatec. You never go wrong there.

This is what I needed to hear, honestly. I've been trying to get out of the Logitech ecosystem because they discontinued support for the G27 without fixing some awful driver bugs. I have to literally reinstall the drivers every time I want to use the wheel. I've been looking at Fanatec, because I'm investing in high quality controllers for my space sim experience. But honestly I don't do much sim racing, and the other driving games I play are truck sims and farming sims, so I don't really need a strong sim racing setup. I've got issues with some of Thrustmaster's stuff, but the 300RS GT looks like a pretty good fit for now. Then, if I get more into sim racing, I can sell it and upgrade.

Great overview. I'm new to sim racing and wanted a good starter wheel. I was between the t150 (tmx), g920 (g29), t300rs (tx) and fanactec CSL. I'm in my last year of a surgical residency so at the moment I don't make much, but will later. That in mind I ended up going with the T300rs. My reasoning is that in that most reviews compare the t150 to the g29, although in this covid-19 era, the t150 is about $200 and the g29 is close to $350. Almost every review that I could find, recommend the t300 over the g29 when cost isn't a factor. At this point their equal in price, and the t300 has a whole support system of pedals and wheels to grow into. The CSL has an even larger system to grow into, but I'd rather try out the $300 wheel, get some extra pedals, and when I'm ready to really comit in a year or so... I'll get a direct drive setup.

I had the t300 but returned it because the pedals it came with broke in about 1 month. The t300 base I thought was impressive for the price. But I went to the CSL F1 ps4 pack and never looked back. Fanatec is worth the extra money hands down. If you ever want to expand rim collection, upgrade pedals, add shifters, and eventually upgrade the motor base, the fanatec ecosystem works seamlessly between products.
I’d call thrustmaster consumer, and I’d call fanatec prosumer. the price is worth it though.

From experience, I got the T300 RS GT wheel and pedals combo and while the pedals might be better than the standard ones they are still absolute trash. I quickly decided to go the extra mile and get proper pedals in the Elite Load cell ones from Fanatec. If I were to do it again, I'd buy the standard T300 and get the fanatec pedals right away, saving some money. The Thrustmaster wheel is fine, and the CSL wheel doesn't offer the benefits the price gap suggest and still the biggest differentiator between the two combos is the pedals.
And if you have the T300 already and you're planning to upgrade the wheel, then just go for something really hardcore instead of just a small step towards a very similar wheelbase.

@@rafaelmtoledo I have sold my Driving Force GT and bought a T300 RS GT. Steering resolution is better when smooth driving and while making small steering corrections, GT pedals is really nice but also it is possible to make DIY upgrade on DFGT brake pedal. I have found a good discount (was similar price as a second hand one) so i took it. But at the end, if you enjoy driving with DFGT, i believe it is still worthy to keep it.

Hi! Thanks for the review! I'm thinking about buying the T300rs, but I have a quick question : do you think it will compatible with the PS5? I know Logitech wheels probably won't, just like the G27 and G25 when the PS4 came out, but since Thrustmaster is an "official" Playstation partner, is there any chance the T300rs will be compatible?
    Thank you very much!

Ive had my fanatec setup for about 1.5 years and I love it.... However I've had nothing but issues and I've only put about 200 hours of use on the equipment. Steering wheel constantly going out of calibration, shifter is misshifting (I'll shift to 5th and it will register it as reverse), my ebrake is constantly atleast 40% engaged at all times and will sometimes get stuck at full engagement. My accelerator pedal sometimes has issue with sensor. Fanatec is willing to help with these issues, but I'm going to have to pay out the ass and lord knows how long I'll be without all my equipment. I spent the extra money on fanatec for quality and reliability.... But I feel like I got a luxury car that requires expensive maintenance. My toy-like logitech g29 never had any issues
