Been playing guitar for 30 years and I can assure y'all that CW is the most underrated guitarist on the planet.
There is serious genius innovation going on in terms of how he accompanies himself here. The comparison that comes to mind is Thelonious Monk in terms of how different these voicings are from what someone would normally play. And he's singing on top of it all, making it sound easy.
While I appreciate all of CW's music I keep hoping he'll do an album of old time jazzy stuff like this. Because while he normally keeps pace with his influences, here is transcending them.
People don’t understand how bizar his guitar playing is. His understanding of chords and melody is bottomless. What a great song. 🙏🏼
