    When I had my 370Z dyno tuned it turned out that the stock ECU was programmed to run very lean below 3K rpm and rich at the top end. I could see any flow improvements on the VQ engine exacerbating the lean condition at low to mid rpms and causing a decrease in torque. I'm of the opinion that any decrease in backpressure is a good thing, as long as a good fuel/air ratio can be maintained across the rev range. In the old days, I used t do things like rejetting or drilling out the jets in the carbs to tune the engines but today it's all about the computers.

    I belive one of the most limiting parts of the VQ's power is the exhaust system so if you want more power, exhaust is the way to go

    According to Fast Intentions, deleting or going with the shorter than standard resonator lengths on their cat back systems doesn't increase power appreciably but mostly increases noise levels. This makes sense to me, as the resonators are basically straight pipes with just pipe perforations that are not going to influence gas flow that much, as opposed to a baffled muffler system.
    BTW: the muffler delete on the Q50 does sound good, and for a good price.

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  Před rokem

      That's right. As long as you aren't using resonators in your system like Cherry Bombs that have the louvers inside, you shouldn't see a difference in performance from small to large resonators.

    Nice on the VR30DDTT, I have full 3 inch downpipes and MBRP 3inch exhaust and it sounds horrible. I completely agree keep the resonators.

    I left my exhaust stock other than an aftermarket Y pipe. Got some nice power gain and ZERO extra sound for those not wanting to increase volume.

    Muffler delete, one of the first things I did on my G37 coupe. Did it so fast not sure what I lost, but it doesn’t feel as peppy off the line for sure. I’m considering putting Vibrant resonators on it and calling it a day. But may be too much free flow once again. If someone has the same setup, I’d like to hear it.

    • @ace77755
      @ace77755 Před rokem +6

      muffler delete doesn’t affect it in anyway, i don’t understand why people think this.. it’s only placebo effect because you sound like you should be faster than what you’re used to not hearing!

    When I first got my 2012 g37 sedan I did a muffler delete sounded great, then I threw on berk hfc still sounded pretty good. After that I did an isr y pipe and let me tell you after that it sounded like complete dog shit lol. So I went with a borla resonator single 3 inch in to a dual 2.5 inch out no muffler and it sounds fire 🔥 zero rasp does have some drone but I love how it sounds!

      3” isn’t necessary on the 3.7. It’ll result in a lower torque number.

    Just got the borla pro xs midpipe installed on my g35x sedan. Didn’t notice much of a difference would you recommend the flow fx or a muffler delete and than continue with your recommended tips. Would appreciate your expertise. I want a clean non raspy sound.

    • @SpeedCultureStudios
      @SpeedCultureStudios  Před rokem

      You wouldn't notice a difference if you kept your factory muffler. My boral setup is a complete catback designed for cars with test pipes. If you have stock cats or keep your factory muffler, adding the borla or other resonators will just make it quieter. Since you've already installed it, I would just do a muffler delete now. Do you still have stock cats?
