- Today, I will take you to bit of a time machine. I was at the Volvo Museum in Gothenburg and wanted to see what they have in there. To my surprise, It was the 60th anniversary of the model P1800. It was really cool seeing how everything had started for Volvo and evolved with each car.
I would strongly recommend you to visit this place If you have the opportunity and thanks to @volvomuseum8741 for keeping the cars in a really good state.

The Volvo museum is awesome, but of the cars, there were 2 missing, 1) 1977,1979 242 GT, and 2) a stretch limo based on either the 240 or 260 that has 6 doors, very rare, constructed for dignitaries and important people, also Volvo built engines for boats " Volvo Penta".
Really nice hearing from a Volvo fan! I think the limo that you are talking about is Volvo 264TE, right? I haven't seen it in the museum but maybe I missed it. And there were lots of engines that I could see that were powering really interesting vehicles 😊
Thanks for visiting the channel, cheers!
@@swedenwalk yes, I just happen to see a video where there was one, in a place where they would fix Volvos, there were 142,144,164,240,265,P1800, and some other models, also there was an ambulance, based on the 145, that is how I got to see the TE version, among many other cars.
@@daw7563 You mean "Bertone" ? I think it was designed by an Italian company named Bertone and still produced by Volvo hence the name "TE" Top Executive. But I might be wrong.
@@daw7563 Good to know! Always cool to discuss these topics with fans! 👋
The display of various 1800 SPORTS Coupes and SPORTS Estates is particularly nice!
A very pleasant film! I hadn't noticed, particularly, before, but Volvo have had nice colours!
Music is good too!
Owned 3 240 a 360 and my last car a 960 all in either AUSTRALIA or NEW ZEALAND and worked in 2 parts dealerships .

My dad had a Volvo, I use to love that car! New supporter here. Thanks for sharing!
They really are special! Thanks for visiting, appreciate it 🙏
When you see your daily driver in a museum it may be time to think about buying something newer! lol
Missing are the 99 and the 900 models, from SAAB.
Why was there no time given to the 1800ES variant at 8:00? It appears to be one with an alternate roofline, one I'd never seen before - and I've seen a buttload! Also, very little time, and NO back shots, of the 480ES at 3:35.
You are totally right that I have missed to film the prototype version of 1800ES more carefully. And it has a really interesting rear design as well! If it helps any, you can see the rear part of that car at 7:04 mark (top left corner) It was fascinating to be around all these classic cars which made it harder to catch all interesting shots. Thanks for your comment! 🙂
I WOULD LOVE TO VISIT THERE AND WORK THERE AS A PAINTER
Haha! I am glad you enjoyed the video :) You mean working as a car painter?
Is the Volvo tower still there?, also what about the crash tests.
No PV544's? Blasphemy.
Did not the swedes drive on the British side until the 1960s so why are the cars on the opposite side for the driving wheel ?
Thanks for visiting the channel!
Really interesting question :) Even though Sweden had right-hand traffic until 1967, most of the cars that were on the road had the wheel on the left. I think this was one of the reasons to switch to left-hand traffic.
Where are the122 S aka Amazon ?
262C first luxury coupé, what about 142GL from 1973, much the same just not Bertone reimagined.
You know what, you might be right! I took the naming "first luxury coupé" from their marketing text, and I think It was meant for US customers :)
Sounds like you know your Volvos! 💯 Have a great day! ☀️
@@swedenwalk not particularly but my father bought a gold ‘73 GL instead of the 1800ES that cost the same. Wasn’t quiet what I had imagined when he fist promised I could borrow the new car to drive my date to our high school grad!
great looking cars until they began making bodies resembling shoe boxes.
I agree that Volvo started changing its design a lot lately. I loved XC70 design from their modern line-up which is not getting produced anymore. What do you think of the design of new S60 and XC90?
Anything Volvo built after the PV, 120, 1800 series looks like garbage. The company took a wrong turn with the introduction of the 140 series and it kept getting worse. Now the Chinese own the company! The only way it could be worse is with Russian ownership.
I also love p1800! It is such an original car. Moving some production to China and Chinese owners probably was not a good idea but I guess they struggled with the profitability. I personally loved the XC70 Cross Country series as well. Unfortunate that they discontinued it. Thanks for your comment!
