  • A different approach to the music lately, and a damn good one too! I went back through my notes and found this one hiding in the pages. It was a request a while ago so I'm here to get it done! Amazing vocals and musicianship as usual! Great song! I can't wait to check out more of them!

I recommend this band to many reactors but they don't usually do reaction. I quess its becouse of wievs. Becouse band isn't so known many don't watch reaction. Well they are quite popular here in Europe. But if you allways think just how many likes and wievs you can have with your reaction you will miss out many good band. Thank you for this reaction 💕😍

No problem I'm sorry I took so long to get to it. Views come and go with every video so you can't focus on that. I'm always looking for new music and it's great to have people from around the world recommend different bands that I wouldn't normally hear about. I try to get to every song that is suggested but obviously it takes some time. I hope you guys just enjoy it and come along on the ride with me

While The Bee is definitely a great piece from them, I always thought Amongst Stars was the gem from the Queen of Time album. Adding Anneke van Giersbergen's guest vocals just works so well with their soundscape.

You're in for a really nice surprise with Amorphis Man, they are masters in their own territory, imagine this: Finland is the most metal country in the world and they are one of the top 5 bands there, take your time and savour their music, some times it's takes time to adjust but if your hooked since the beginning then you just found another treasure 🤘🤘🤘
    Just like Orbit Culture 😉😎🤘

Thank you for your reaction! You just gotta love Amorphis! There is no bad music from them. Their latest singer Tomi Joutsen just nails it. Another great song for driving would be their Bad Blood. Their lyrics are written by a poet. Kalevala inspired Tolkien when he wrote his Lord of the Rings. This album is pure gold if you want a proof listen to one of its bonus songs Brother and Sister. Which too bad you'll only get in some of the album versions.

Yes, Bad Blood for driving! Brother and Sister too :) Also Heart Of Giant, Dark Path, Under The Red Cloud, Towards And Against (especially live version from Oulu show)…For sleepy mornings - White Night or The Way (old song with different singer). Though Amorphis is my favorite band, I’d like to suggest my absolute number one driving song (imaginary, cause I don’t drive ha ha) by another great band from Finland Omnium Gatherum - Living In Me. So much energy!

One thing to know about Amorphis is that their sound is not easy to identify with just a few songs. Similar to how Nightwish changes things up a lot, Amorphis has a variety of tempos and style changes that can turn people off if they listen to the wrong song(s) first. If I had to pick just from their last two albums, a few songs to recommend I would say:
    1. Death of a King - a common recommendation, catchy song (Under the Red Cloud, music vid) czcams.com/video/Kc-gEds3eTM/video.html
    2. Pyres on the Coast - heavy but slower, album closer (Queen of Time, audio only) czcams.com/video/bHG7Dp00rsY/video.html
    3. Come the Spring - fast with 100% clean vocals, uplifting feeling (Under the Red Cloud) czcams.com/video/IkA9hzepWbg/video.html
    4. Dark Path - fast and heavy, really flexes Tomi's vocals with two different growl styles and difficult clean vocals (Under the Red Cloud, audio only) czcams.com/video/jfNNdIP4HbI/video.html
    5. Wrong Direction - 99% clean vocals, good hook (Queen of Time, music vid) czcams.com/video/Bz9uAOM4DHo/video.html
I would say that if you have a favorable opinion of those 5 songs you'd probably like a decent amount of Amorphis' music.
Also, I have to ask: What's with the corn starch and caulk on the shelf behind you? 🤣

    • @CodyLamReacts
      @CodyLamReacts  Před 3 lety

Lol thanks for the list! And as far as the shelf items go, I have gotten into making fishing lures and apparently you can mix the 2 items (corn starch & silicone) to create a mold. I bought them to try it. I understand it's kind of a strange background lol.

Amorphis is one of my favourite bands! But I recommend looking into some older stuff - the songs Sampo or Skyforger are FANTASTIC. My husband's band opened for them in Calgary and Edmonton back in 2017, and seeing them back to back nights, and how consistent they were live just shows their level of professionalism and experience

Hey there, thank you for your reaction. Amorphis is definitely one of the bands who are the most meaningful to me.
Maybe something you find interesting regarding bees: One of the heroes of the Kalevala is a man called Lemminkäinen.
From Wikipedia: "The original, mythological Lemminkäinen is a shamanistic figure. In the Kalevala, he has been blended together with epic war-heroes Kaukomieli/Kaukamoinen and Ahti Saarelainen. In one myth, he drowns in the river of Tuonela (the underworld) in trying to capture or kill the swan that lives there as part of an attempt, as Ilmarinen once made, to win a daughter of Louhi as his wife. In a tale somewhat reminiscent of Isis' search for Osiris, Lemminkäinen's mother searches heaven and earth to find her son. Finally, she learns of his fate and asks Ilmarinen to fashion her a rake of copper with which to dredge her son's body from the river of Tuonela. Thus equipped, she descends into the underworld in search of her son. On the banks of the river of the underworld, she rakes up first Lemminkäinen's tunic and shoes, and then, his maimed and broken body. Unrelenting, she continues her work until every piece of Lemminkäinen's body is recovered. Sewing the parts together and offering prayers to the gods, the mother tries to restore Lemminkäinen to life, but while she succeeds in remaking his body, his life is still absent. Then, she entreats a bee to ascend to the halls of the over-god Ukko and fetch from there a drop of honey as ointment that would bring Lemminkäinen back to life. Only with such a potent remedy is the hero finally restored."
Amorphis' album Silent Waters is completely based on Lemminkäinen and the lyrics are English translations of Finnish poems written by poet Pekka Kainulainen.
The songs Silent Waters and Shaman are specifically about Lemminkäinen's mother's quest to find her son and bring him back to life. Those songs especially hit me deep, as they depict, how strong a mother's love can be to take on many hardships to save her child.

I'm pretty sure there's a Live version they did in the past 6 weeks.. was it Albatross? Not sure, but it's easy to find on YT.
Pretty damn good Live... I'd definitely pay to see them.
Those loooong growls... the only way I can approach it is a baritone fry-scream, which is probably not too good for my voice long term.
Hah, who am I fooling... I'm never gonna record anything, so I may as well blaze away.

It's a fun song that hits hard at first. But it gets stale fast. Atleast it did to me. It's just so one-dimensional.
"Sky Is Mine" is where it's at. Their singular best song in my not so humble opinion. "Under the Red Cloud" and "Shades of Gray" are also nice picks if you ever follow up.
