Who underrates Mortensen? He is well known, and known to do his acting really well. If some movies are not in top-10 of hollywood showing list....well thats usually just a good sign.
I remember thinking that Tom locking the front door and forcing his brother to lower his weapon to look for his keys was so simple and yet realistic to disarm him. Most of the action in the movie is believable and realistic making all the more intense.
This was a great film, much better than i was expecting at the time... If you're a fan of movies like Taken, John Wick & Nobody then this film is for you. It follows a similar template, but delivers a far more grounded and realistic story and characters that are each consistently intriguing and captivating throughout. It's a shame this film was released prior to the rise in revenge movies as it missed the recognition it deserved... On the other hand however, I'm grateful they never ruined it by forcing it into a franchise, too

They didn't think he was weak. They recognized him from him disarming and killing two armed robbers singlehandedly. They wanted revenge for some unfinished business from back in the day.
I don't know how I never saw this movie. It's definitely in my wheelhouse. I had forgotten Vigo and Ed Harris were both in the movie "Appaloosa". A great western btw.

RIP to William Hurt, who was rightly (and should've won) nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role. Ed Harris was also scary af in this as well.

On top of which, there was obviously no need to shoot anybody in that store in the first place. Yes they've eliminated witnesses to their robbery but they've made themselves a drastically higher priority for capture so the net result is much more risk to them.

Check out the way Viggo morphs back to "Joey" in the front yard. His walk changes, his face goes calm and cool and his eyes reveal his intensity. The guy is a remarkable actor. He is on my top list. Viggo, Denzell, Butler, Penn, Hardy and Statham.

I met a couple of guys once like the two dudes who mean no good at the beginning of this movie. It was in South Park at a small cafe and they were especially friendly to me as I was by myself. When they asked me what I was up to, and I said I was headed to a shooting range, their demeanor changed and they weren't so interested in me. They made a good choice not to eff with me. These types are out there and real. So be careful when strangers are strangly nice to you.

This was an excellent movie! It's a good reminder that in most organized crime syndicates (throughout history), there is truth to the "blood in, blood out" way of thinking.

I was like 14-15, and my mom had this on DVD. I watched it after she went to sleep one night, instantly one of my favorite movies and it still is.
"Weak" is not the word I would use to describe Tom/Joey. More like mild-mannered, unassuming, but definitely not weak. lol
