- I recently did a search to find this movie intro but was very SURPRISED to find that NOBODY posted it with the Survivor's Eye Of The Tiger song included?! I honestly wonder how anyone could possibly post this movie intro WITHOUT including the EYE OF THE TIGER song too? That is the best part of the intro....make that the "FULL MOVIE INTRO."
So here it is for the WORLD'S BENEFIT. Enjoy! I call this "Motivational ROCKET FUEL for the spirit!"
This also happens to be my very FIRST CZcams video upload ever. Yeah, I've been needing to get into it for a long time. Perhaps I picked a good video clip for it.
This intro has probably one of the best life lessons I’ve ever gotten from a movie: There’s always a Clubber Lang wanting what you have so you can never lose that eye of the tiger
Rocky 3 is my favorite of all the Rocky films. It has the best story and the best messages. Always strive to be the best you can be and don't lose your eye of the tiger.
Just remember when you want something so bad, there's always someone out there who just wants it a little more
@@gmonroy852 yes indeed!
Facts. Never get comfortable for where you rank because there’s always someone climbing to your spot.
We shouldn't lose the Eye of the Tiger,it's a force to stay alive.
I read somewhere, "If you look like food, you will be eaten"
the opening scene was like saying a goodbye to the 70's and hello to the 80's
Good observation
This.
What was the goodbye to the 80s and hello to the 90s?
@@vapordreams983 With all due respect, the change was from the sublime melancholy nature of the 70s and the first two Rocky movies evolving into the glitzy glam go go capitalism and enthusiasm of the 80s. Greed is good pined Gordon Gecko. In Rocky 2 he couldnt do a simple commercial to save his life. In the beginning of 3 hes doing commercials for American Express, and the Muppet show. So he either read the Gospel of Wealth, took acting lesssons, got greedy, or all of the above. Real life showed Jane Fonda in the 70s as a anti war activist criticizing America and possibly capitalism, to an about face in the 80s schlepping exercise videos and marrying Ted Turner....go figure.
@@dalemobius1378 I love the gritty nature of the '70s... feels so much more genuine
I must have heard Eye of the Tiger a million times in my life, but hearing it in its original context was like experiencing it for the first time again. What an intro.
The first time I heard it as a kid was during that scene in Robots(2005). My ears perked up and I was like yo this is so good😂. Second time was our PE teacher in elementary school blasting it on his speaker
I know what you mean. I already loved the song before I discovered the Rocky movies during Quarantine

This was the first one I got to go see in the theater :) I was 10. It made an impression.
I did -- opening day. Went with my mom. I was nine. I convinced her to see this instead of ON GOLDEN POND. She agreed reluctantly, but LOVED it. It was awesome.
With today's speaker systems they have would of been incredible
The transition from the original Rocky theme to Survivor's gives me chills everytime.
Probably the happiest time of Rockys life...dominating his sport, and FINALLY enjoying the rewards of all his sacrifices.
Then Clubber comes along and teaches him the extremely valuable lesson of not getting too comfortable at the top, because there is always someone as hungry as you that is coming for what you have! 🧐
Best intro to a movie ever, so much exposition and storytelling jam packed into 5 minutes, with a legendary soundtrack. Doesn’t get better than this.
Awesome intro.
Clubber lang looks so cool in that nike shirt.
You can’t find anything like it in todays crazy cinematic world
Shut up with that "best ever"-crap.
That still shot of rocky’s bloody face along with that emerging guitar rift is one of the most iconic moments in cinema history.

Best transition of all time!!!

I especially love the brief shots of Mickey just being part of the family, like a cranky and slightly insane but ultimately lovely Grandpa.
SYLVESTER STALLONE is definitely one of my personal heroes in life.
He wrote the screenplay for "ROCKY" while living on a shoe-string budget out of a one bedroom apartment, and (according to what I remember hearing) he was so poor that he could hardly afford to by food, and so he saved by eating raw eggs (or drinking them) just like Rocky did in the movie. So he was literally LIVING the life of his character in many ways. Then success exploded into his life, and suddenly he was playing the starring role of what ended up winning BEST PICTURE of the year. Sly Stallone IS 'ROCKY'...in real life, and he's a real inspiration to millions, including me.
Sherwin. I am also a big fan, Especially of the ROCKY series. Not sure if you know, But I read somewhere a long time ago that the original pick for theme for Rocky III was, Another One Bites The Dust by Queen. But U A was not able to secure the rights for it, So Eye Of The Tiger was chosen.

this is an absolute masterpiece, I love the contrast between Clubber Lang & Rocky. Rocky takes his eye off the ball, loses the "eye of the tiger" so to speak. In contrast Clubber Lang is laser-focused on becoming champion, he eats sleeps & fights, he has the eye of the tiger.
Rocky lost his focus because until Clubber Lang came along, none of his opponents had that killer instinct that Rocky had when he was a challenger. That combined with Rocky doing stuff that famous people do is why Clubber Lang wasn't impressed or pleased with him and honestly thought that Rocky was ducking him when in fact, Rocky's coach was putting select boxers against Rocky to protect him.
@@girlgarde They was hand picked!!!
Pretty much. The matches were legit and the challengers wanted to win but they lacked the killer instinct needed to win.
One of the great messages of this movie. No matter where you are and what you're doing, don't get complacent.
Paulie yelling "get up rocky" just sums up how much he really loves rock.
Yep he may have been a prick but he loved Rocky and was loyal, my favorite paulie moment was when he called Tommy Gunn out for being a piece of shit
Then, as was shown in this intro montage, Paulie started getting jealous of Rocky's success.
i feel Clubber's workout montage is greatly overlooked.
Very true
He was hard. 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Did you guys notice during the split scene how huge Clubber Lang's (Mr. T) freaking quads where while he was jogging? MR. T WAS A BEAST! I hate to be the bearer of bad news y'all but, Mr. T would've busted Stallone's azz from pilar to post in real life. Lol
MrTrashmetal13, or shud I say Mr. T?! Picture this if u will. Imagine u being a fighter, and u r the last guy to do that ring walk! U trained for 6mths. You are n excellent shape. And you come out jogging, looking like Mr. T was in the split scene. Man , your opponent would've bounced outta that ring like his mommy told him he'd better b on the front porch b4 those street lights came on! 😆
Stay away from him....
Stallone is such a beast.
His body transformation from Rocky 1 to 2, 2 to 3 and 3 to 4 epitomized the Rocky Balboa and brought him to life.
From being built like a journeyman boxer to looking like a world champion. Sly is a living legend and what he delivered with the Rocky franchise can't be understated.
They're a global, cultural icon and always will be.
ikr? he was already athletic in Rocky 1 and 2 but he finally got access to better coaches and proper training in 3 and 4. Maybe some roids too.
You also got busted for having HGH.
Steroids and doing Rambo sequels
@@wasabi5338 yep it symbolizes how he went from a regional boxer to a world champion who had a bunch of title defenses and beat the likes of Clubber slang and Ivan Drago, someone who was supposedly “1000 years ahead of time in training”.
@@brionpriest6735 there’s nothing wrong with HGH he just didn’t file the correct paperwork when he took it to Australia.
I swear to God i watch these clips when i feel hopeless and they just give me hope man. Sly really knew how to make a great movie.
This has to be the greatest intro to a Movie trilogy. I love how they display the 2 different contrast of the fighters especially at 05:18. Rocky got all comfortable in the fame and success he lost his edge while another rocky hungry with the eye of the tiger recognizing how weak rocky became so he's just pushing until he seizes his opportunity. It's my favorite rocky intro of all times and of any series movies
That is stallone real life popularity, and litteraly at his peak of his career
Tireur isolé The progression is also interesting. As at 3:24 or so, you see Rocky annihilate that guy and Clubber looks legitimately worried. Over time you see the two change, it's very well done.
This is so true! Sometimes success can be a downfall if you get too comfortable and relaxed. You have to stay intense and hungry and not lose your edge so you will not become soft.
@@Nuvendil no more like disgusted , like he already knew that guy was just above average good fighter , as Clubber states in public that Rocky did face only setups.
@@akbarlakhani7826 eh, I don't see much in the way of disgust. His facial expression is definitely softer than disgust.
Also, Rocky wasn't fighting setups. He was fighting high ranked contenders. Just ones he was a good matchup for.

This intro is everything. Recap of the ending of the last movie to warm the audience up, an awesome song that would be etched into the minds of everyone, Rocky beating people up and becoming more popular while clubber lang silently watches, clubber's montage and him knocking out boxer after boxer to show how much of a threat he is while Rocky becomes more of public figure rather than a boxer. This is SHOWING, not TELLING and I really like that.
Love how he hugs the German champ afterwards..thats a real sportsman. Id do that too.
@@actuary33 Same here provided my foe was good and respectful to me before and during the match. He can fight hard and smart to win, just no cheap moves.
I was impressed by how brutal and tough Clubber Lang was. It's too bad he was such a rotten jerk and was the cause of the death of Rocky's coach.
@@girlgarde mick was right he was a wrecking machine
@@actuary33 Yes, Clubber Lang was basically a bulldozer that destroyed everyone in his path.
Very few intros have such a fitting soundtrack done inspired on the film like this one
One of the reasons I love this franchise is not just because it's a great underdog to champion storyline but that it was never afraid to have the main protagonist of the franchise lose.....it was soo vital to have this character learn to overcome different obstacles thrown at him even when he was on top
No matter how hard life hits you no matter what it takes from you you should never loose hope and always keep moving forward that's the thing you can learn from these movies
This film was pretty much a parallel to Stallone's own rise to stardom in the late 1970’s to the early 1980's.
Screaming Mimi's - Late 70's as the first Rocky movie was made in 1976 which catapulted Stallone into fame and fortune. Before that he was a struggling working actor and was at one point homeless living in a bus shelter as well as having to sell his dog so he could eat.
No, his rise to fame was the late 70’s.
Rocky (1976) was his breakthrough role, then Rocky II (1979) continued his accent, and finally by 1982 which saw the release of Rocky III and First Blood he had reached the upper echelons of Hollywood.
@@Dangerous2099 SMH...the intro IS SET in the late 70's. You just have to apply logic. What the OP is saying is that the ROCKY TIMELINE parallels what Sly went through. He wins the rematch against Apollo in November 1976 and defends the title 10 times up until August 15th, 1981. We know that's the date of the first Lang fight because that's the date of Mickey's death on his tomb. That time frame is how you see him meeting Presidents Ford, Carter, and Reagan in the montage. So based on this, Clubber first comes on the radar around 1978 and rises as Rocky is beating these lesser fighters during that three years. Which is why he says, "you made me wait three years!" in the first fight against Rocky.
@Screaming Mimi's The MOVIES aren't set in the same timeline as the fucking release dates of the film. You're so busy trying to contradict someone else, you didn't even bother to research anything. The first fight is set in January 1976 and the rematch is Thanksgiving 1976 even though the movie was released in 1979. The period of the montage covers late 1976 to 1981, the period of time Rocky is champion. Or...EXACTLY what the OP said, the late 70's to the early 80's.
“ℛ𝑜𝒸𝓀𝓎" 𝒶𝓃𝒹 "ℛ𝑜𝒸𝓀𝓎 3" are the best ones! But I like the 5th one as well.
this intro gives you much motivation to not lose your potentials.
The transition from Rocky's montage to Clubber's in this song was genius.
5:31 Rocky's getting all lovey dovey while Clubbers trying his utmost to kill someone lol

Amazing
I wanna work like that too
One of the best sequel intros ever. How it opens with the upbeat fanfare to quickly get you reminiscing of Rocky's victory in the second one, then it quickly suspends that, putting you right in the seat of the climax of the second movie to let you relive the struggle Rocky had to face to win the belt, the victory. Then that smooth transition to one of the coolest, most lyrically appropriate songs of any movie (given that they wrote it specifically for the movie) covering Rocky's continued victory in pretty safely maintaining his championship status in a really great parallel to Stallone's own rise from upmost struggle and poverty to stardom and worldwide recognition. Quickly it reveals Clubber, the new tiger, hungry, eyeing up Rock with disdain and immediately you can tell he sees something not yet made known to us. Before we're told any more, Clubber goes through a training montage of Rocky proportions that makes him ready to release that destructive momentum through the contenders ranks in brutal fashion. We then come to see what Clubber sees, what antagonises him so much, that Rocky in holding the belt against good fighters, not killers (as Micky tells us later on), he's lost that tiger, the killer in himself, comfortably living the life he never had at the sacrifice of the edge he needed to go 15 rounds with Apollo and subsequently beat him, in order to obtain the belt. That same belt that he's now propping up which he unknowingly sacrificed his animal instinct for by Micky's safeguarding, has led him to become civilised, a celebrity. Clubber continues to rise to through the ranks to the top of the contenders list, knowingly turning to Micky in the audience to declare his intent to come after Rocky, despite Micky's best efforts for Rock to avoid a true killer to protect his eye, his health, knowing that the Rocky that would be able to take down Clubber is gone, making way for the civilised, content Rocky who has conquered the struggle that made him who he was in order to claim the belt, that same struggle that Clubber is raging to overcome by taking Rocky's civilised head off. Amazing opening, to give us so much information in the first 5 minutes through a big flashback, mostly visuals and only very occasional dialogue with a score that is a household name to this day. So good.
The ending of rocky 2 into the beginning of rocky 3 totally awesome am a huge rocky fan binge watch when it comes on tv 😀
It's the little details that get me. In the first two Rocky movies, Rocky's a poor man, a talented boxer, but a terrible actor, almost a nobody trying to make ends meet. Then, he winds up in back-to-back matches against Apollo Creed, and he soon builds up enough strength against him to dethrone as the heavyweight boxing champion of the world. In III, Rocky gradually transforms from a scrappy boxer to a national celebrity. The guy's selling out Caesar's Palace and Radio City Music Hall. His name is plastered on Gatorade, t-shirts, magazines, glassware, snacks and billboards. He's even guest starring on The Muppet Show. THE FREAKING MUPPET SHOW!
One of the best film intros ever.
My favorite one for sure
No! The best movie intro ever

Rocky getting humbled by Clubber was the best thing that ever happened to him. Because of that, Apollo showed him how important it is to have the ”Eye of the Tiger” and to always stay hungry.

Rocky went from rags to riches in this movie
I remember reluctantly seeing this in theatres. 11yrs old, not really in to dramatic movies. When those fireworks went off & “Eye of the Tiger” started playing I was mesmerized. It pulled me in completely. Not only did it solidify my love for these movies it was also the reason I asked for my first record player. I absolutely wore out that 45 single. Just the best.
I remember opening night for Rocky III at the sold out theater. People cheered at this opening and again at, “Yo Adrian, I did it!”. Then the opening montage with the now immortal, “Eye of the Tiger”. I remember thinking, “they must have made this great song just for this film because the drums and guitar perfectly matched the punches”. People were whooping at the screen watching Rocky go through all the opponents and silence when Clubber Lang destroyed his. I and the audience were terrified of Clubber. What a great time! Clubber truly represented what Rocky was before he became champ. Only difference is Rocky was given his shot by Apollo whereas Clubber climbed the rankings through hardwork, discipline, and determination. I wouldn't have called him a villain but rather a more vicious and brutal version of Rocky who wanted to be the champion and was willing to put all the work and effort in to achieve it. Rocky beat Clubber the second time around with the help of Apollo and that's when Clubber knew he was back to his old self before winning the belt from Apollo and knew that beating Rocky again was going to be more difficult the second time.
