The Lindy hop is a 1930s swing dance, often called the 'jitterbug'.
Some people will be amazed, even annoyed, that I devote such little effort to teaching the footwork. This being a video, you can of course copy it simply by watching what we do, and then doing the same. Importantly, though, you should understand that it isn't terribly important what you do with your feet with this sort of move. I give my partner direction and timing, and she dances in that direction her way, using whatever footworks she likes.
When exactly do you start the push the lead the turn? Usually about the start of the fourth beat - F of 'four', if you like. An alternative timing is 'whenever you like'.
This video was shot with the help of Laura Halttunen of The Jazz Factory, Helsinki's primary dance studio for the swing dances.

I built a sound-baffle around the camera, which blocked out most of the echo from the large room, but blocking it all out was impossible.

Ah, the old tuck turn. I'm pretty sure that this "dance" was originally an evasive movement learned by 16c infantrymen to lessen the chance of being hit by over-sized double-bitted axes, fire arrows, highly poisonous swords which killed instantly, the arrows from ineffective mounted archers and even the charge of a berserker....sadly the infantrymen could never avoid the flaming Spandau's!!!

At intermediate level, you're following the rules as they're written. At advanced, you've learned when and how to break the rules for creative flavour or a personal touch.

Maybe you could also explain from the follower's perspective? For example, during the turn, follower should follow their elbow to increase comfort and connection, but more importantly minimise shoulder injury.

Lindy i gotta be honest mate- i really like the fact you're enjoying Lindy Hop enough to want to push it to a wider audience, but you should set up another channel for this- i really wanna see more history videos mate- as you are to me like the awesome History teacher I never had and the reason I have a renewed interest in History. hope this doesn't come across the wrong way. all the best Ben

I'm a Lindy Hop fanatic. Most of the things I watch on CZcams are dance. But I agree 100% with BenniboiBadman. Just my opinion but Lindy fans and History fans would both be better served by separate channels. I'd still watch both.

Lloyd clearly labeled all his dance videos so I don't see a problem with them being on this channel. He also puts up rants that have nothing to do with history.

Lindy do you think maybe you could make a video on your favourite music/bands/genres? if you like music that is...
It would be an interesting yet not to intrusive glimpse into your personal life and your mind you can tell alot about someone by the music they listen to :) just a thought
