The greatest pleasure was to see this played in its entirety without a single interruption. Wish more reaction folks would follow your lead. Thank you. That aside... yes... this was the level of musical quality that was common throughout the 1970s. We didn't know how good we had it.

When this came out as a single in 1975 or '76, I stared at the radio in utter disbelief. Ive been in a lot of cover bands in my youth, and NOBODY ever had the guts to try to cover this song!
You may be interested to know that the song follows the classical rhapsody form. These guys were no joke!
One day, my first wife and I were listening to the album A Night at the Opera, which has this song. As you can imagine, the whole album is just as mind-blowing as this song. When the album was finished, my wife looked at me and said "I wonder if they realized they created such a masterpiece?"

another fun fact- Brian My did not use a traditional pick- he found they were too soft and pliable. One day he decided to try a coin and settled on a six pence coin. that was back during their very beginning. Oh, and people always remark on the great harmonies at the beginning of this video. they might be surprised to know that section is all Freddie.he had that wide of a range and such tone control. i'm sure you get annoyed sometimes as well when people fail to do a bit of research before posting reactions.....

Back in 1975 when this was released, my sister tells me if you were in high school, it was a right of passage to know the lyrics and sing along. While always out there, just about every 10 years, it finds its way back to be re-discovered officially. For $5K, a video changes rock for ever. What a thrilling accomplishment for Queen.

  • @sharonallforloveandpositiv5497

Written by Freddie Mercury. It became no.1 again upon the death of Freddie in November 1991. In 2018, the release of Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody brought the song renewed popularity and chart success worldwide. Proof positive that Queen remains bigger than ever, over 45 years after its release, the band's signature tune “Bohemian Rhapsody” has been officially certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) in March 2021. The award represents 10 million or more in sales and stream equivalents in the United States. All the harmonies at the beginning were actually all Freddie harmonising with himself. No easy feat for the 70s.

Rhapsody is a characteristic musical piece of romanticism composed of
different thematic parts freely united and without any relationship
between them. This song recreates the myth of "Faust" in four blocks.
The ballad, where he confesses a murder to his mother, and says goodbye
to her. The Opera buffa, where the judgment of his soul is recreated,
where angels and demons discuss condemnation or forgiveness. The Rock
part, where the Devil makes his plea, saying that he cannot escape his
sentence, nor live a life dedicated to evil, and then pretend to betray
him, with excuses such as that he has had an unjust life. And the final
section, where he reflects, and does not care about condemnation or
forgiveness, since he has always lived according to the circumstances or
how the wind turned ... (Leaving to free interpretation, according to
the lyrics or classical musical language, that Freddie knew a lot about
that, if he was convicted or saved)

Outstanding video, I love it every time. Thank you. Brian May is the guitar player for Queen and has been hailed as one of the best if not THE best rock guitar player of all time, he is just soooooo good, he is my favorite guitar player. He will never admit to being the best, he still holds several of the greats as better than himself but I for one think he is being too modest in that idea. Besides being really great at playing his guitar, he actually built his guitar with his father when he was a teenager, with stuff they had laying around the house. His guitar is unique and has a sound that no other guitar does or will. You can now buy a Brian May guitar, and it is close to this one but nothing sounds like Brian's own Red Special. Queen is a band that the more you listen to them, the more you understand that they just kept progressing, never doing the same thing twice. All four members wrote songs for the band and all had number one hits though each of them is musically very different from the others. Each member of this band is rated at the top in his instrument.

Welcome to Queen! Queen fans are extremely passionate and love to watch folks react to Queen, especially the deep cuts that are not as well known. I agree that Queen excels in their live performances but I always recommend listening to the studio version first and then checking out the live version. Unfortunately you will not find any liver performances of Queen after 1986 and you will have to either react to the lyric videos or music video (if one exists). You will also see that Queen cannot be easily categorized as a certain type of band that plays only one genre of music. The four members of Queen had different tastes in music and you will see that they did rock, southern rock, blues, rock operas, stadium rock, folk, etc…. Please include “Who Wants To Live Forever” in your lists of songs to react to. The 1986 performance from Budapest is fantastic but the one from Wembley is also very good. Thanks for checking out Queen! 👑👑👍😊

As a Brit you are born knowing this song. The Live Aid concert 1985, 80,000 people in the palm of his hand, playing his favourite instrument, the audience!! I had only seen one of your reactions (Zep) but so far back, I forgot your name... but saw it today and it rebounded (ie good choice to name your account). You're going to get a zillion Queen requests- all of them good- but I'm keyed to your comment about guitar... the ONLY GUY who can be talked about in the same breath as Jimi Hendrix is the blind blues/ soul/ jazzman Jeff Healey - As The Years Go Passing By: czcams.com/video/gIkOaTVu8uM/video.html . Cancer took his sight at 1, his eyes at 2, and his life at 41. But check out what stays with us! Greetings from Canada- peace and be safe.

I could sit all day and watch people react to hearing Freddie's voice and the musical genius of Queen all day long. Freddie's voice is on another plane. There is nothing like it. Nothing. Imagine you are a child who heard Motown and Rock and Roll then one day Queen comes out of the radio and you cannot believe your ears. That is truly what happens to everyone, no matter their background, who hears Queen for the first time. Transported.

This was popular music in the 70's. Not saying all songs were this epic but there was such freedom in the way bands and artists wrote and performed. Along with the late 60's, it generated the best and most creative music we've ever seen.

I was 14 and already a Queen fan in 1975 when this rock opera, Bohemian Rhapsody, was released. I fell in love with them when 'Killer Queen' charted in the UK in 1974 - That for me would be a good song to check out, if you're looking to watch more early Queen music.

As a longtime fan of Queen and Bohemian Rhapsody, I was just enjoying some reactions from channels I already subscribed to that somehow slipped under the radar. This led me to discover your channel. You are funny, engaging (and beautiful) and so, have a new subscriber. Cool how that works. What can be said about this iconic song. Nothing else like it. Freddie Mercury is coy about its meaning, but I believe its a coming out song of sorts for him. The ballad part near the beginning where he says he just killed a man, the man he killed was his old self. His conservative parents weren't thrilled, hence "Mama, didn't mean to make you cry."

  • @sharonbabyboomer3618

In their early years Queen only wore black or white on stage. The harmony at the beginning is actually all Freddie Mercury. He also enjoyed opera, therefore this style written into the mix. All the guys were well educated and so, so talented. But Freddie was an absolute genius in music. This song rocked my world in high school and continues to do so!

You can't go wrong with any Queen song. 2 or 3 songs in you'll realize that you've fallen down the Queen rabbit hole & won't be able to crawl out. 😁 Lots of great suggestions for songs in the comments, but don't forget Live Aid '85. Best live rock performance EVER!!
    Basics of the band:
Freddie Mercury - vocals, piano, guitar (died of AIDS in 1991)
Brian May - guitar, vocals, piano
Roger Taylor - Drums, vocals, guitar (but not on Queen material)
John Deacon - bass, guitar, piano, backing vocals (only in concert).
Each of the 4 have written #1 songs & all have been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
