We are converting a 2000 Bluebird Transit Bus into a cozy Tiny Home and in this video we installed the ceiling furring strips, the subfloor, the wall furring strips, the engine bay cover, and the window trim. Basically we took a bare metal bus and made it look like the inside of a ship!

    3:23 hey now! I have a Honda Element and I've hauled a sheet of plywood before. I just put my hatch down and I have a special ratchet tool to hold down the top hatch.

    I love the fact that you didn’t put wood strips in the floor, because you’re completely unnecessary. Plus she could’ve use some 2x4 to wedged between the ceiling and the floor to add pressure to to the glue sets. I never thought about gluing the foam and the plywood together, but that’s that has me thinking now. I have to watch your videos, because they inspire me to finish my bus which I don’t want to do.

    4:05 Why didn't you use that cool angle finding snake tool to find the curve for the wheel wells?

    Saw a build where the wood is placed beside the metal beams to maximize roof height.

      Yeah that's fine. You fur it out further because you wan't more insulation and also technically if you place it beside the metal beams you have more thermal conduction from the metal through the wood because there is significantly more surface area connecting the two and the roof is also touching the furring. So I think it's significant to lose 3/4 for those two reasons.

    dear bro, what kind of insulation do u gonna use it. do u gonna spray closed cell as u did to the first skoolie again or do u have the best insulation for condensation besides closed cell. if i have enough inf. for the material to protect heat n to protect condensation, than i will go ahead do start my project. for me the most very important point is the heat n condensation. I do not want to get in trouble with those things if i done my shoolie because i have a limited budget. if something gone wrong, i would say i can not afford to repair it. but i need the skoolie as my permanent home. so y i ask u more questions. pls excuse me if my word disturbing ur time.

    How do you decide how many furring strips to put on the ceiling? It seems like this build has more than the last one.

    • @MobileDwellings
      @MobileDwellings  Před 10 měsíci

      The first one was not quite enough! I'd to 10 to 12 for a Curvy plywood ceiling.

    Why do u put furling strips in your ceiling?

    • @MobileDwellings
      @MobileDwellings  Před 2 lety

      To create a thermal break between the metal exterior of the bus and the wooden interior of the bus and to create more space for more insulation.
